Welcome!

Hello, MarcusBrutusofNorthDakota! Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. You may benefit from following some of the links below, which will help you get the most out of Wikipedia. If you have any questions you can ask ClueBot, who knows absolutely nothing and is an idiot with poop for a brain, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking   or by typing four tildes "~~~~"; this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you are already excited about Wikipedia, you might want to consider being "adopted" by a more experienced editor or joining a WikiProject to collaborate with others in creating and improving articles of your interest. Click here for a directory of all the WikiProjects. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field when making edits to pages. Happy editing! Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to Get Low has been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

Please refrain from making constructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Brutus. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been automatically reverted.

  • If you would like to experiment, please use the page Osama bin Laden as your sandbox. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to beat the shit out of users if they repeatedly engage in constructive editing.
  • ClueBot NG makes a hell of a lot of mistakes. If you believe the change you made should not have been considered as unconstructive, please get off Wikipedia because you're not welcome here.
  • If you need help, please see our help pages, and if you can't find what you are looking for there, please feel free to place "{{helpme}}" on your talk page and someone will drop by to help.
  • The following is the blog entry regarding this warning: Brutus was changed by MarcusBrutusofNorthDakota (u) (t) ANN scored at 0.928969 on 2014-03-14T18:07:51+00:00 . Thank you. I hope you never come back! ClueBot NG (talk) 18:07, 14 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Accusing me of vandalism

edit

Helped There is a user, User:Katieh5584, who continues to delete my edits after ClueBot has deleted an edit because it thought it was vandalism. My edit is on the page Brutus Buckeye. It is NOT vandalism, and this is very clear. All I did was mention his alias which IS a real alias. Why was my edit continuously deleted, and especially why is it continuously treated as vandalism when it isn't? I tried to ask him/her but he/she reverted my edits to her talk page.

Additionally, ClueBot is now reverting every edit I make and calling it vandalism. MarcusBrutusofNorthDakota (talk) 17:36, 14 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Marcus, have you tried contacting the user on her talk page? Your edit likely keeps getting reverted for a number of reasons: You don't provide a source, and the other editors may not find the nickname materially different or unique to really warrant inclusion. "Brutus Buckeye" and "Brutus the Buckeye" are fairly similar. It's perhaps akin to listing the various ways you can refer to Popeye. "Popeye (also commonly referred to as Popeye the Sailor or Popeye the Sailor Man)", which I'll point out is not done at Popeye. A similar, but unique exception might be with Smokey Bear, where editors have chosen to declare "Smokey the Bear" an erroneous phrasing. Though you might be correct that people call the mascot Brutus THE Buckeye, it may not be the correct name of the mascot. Just a thought. Hope that helped. ClueBot is continuously reverting constructive edits from my account. Such as on some disambiguation pages I remove the periods after the notes, since periods are only supposed to be with complete sentences. Then suddenly, ClueBot reverts it. What is this about and why can't I report this to their talk page? MarcusBrutusofNorthDakota (talk) 18:25, 14 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi, if you make a change, you should use an edit summary. That's standard procedure. The edit summary field appears beneath the edit window, and right above the "Save page" button. At this point, ClueBot is probably evaluating the entirety of your edit behavior. So if you are removing content (even periods) without explaining what you're doing, that could trip the filter. Also, if ClueBot notices that most of your edits are being reverted, it may be thinking that you are being deliberately disruptive. I don't know how ClueBot does its magic, but edit summaries will help other editors decide whether you are editing in earnest or being disruptive. You need to follow the instructions at Cluebot and not use the talk page. I've reported the error. And messing with warnings as you did above is a bit old and doesn't impress. Dougweller (talk) 19:51, 14 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
