Welcome Back

Well I never.... Welcome Back, Marco!!! --DO11.10 (talk) 16:43, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks - it has been a while.... Did you get your thesis wrapped-up? -- MarcoTolo (talk) 20:18, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
I'm "writing" my dissertation now, but not full time, so even that part is taking a long time. :( --DO11.10 (talk) 16:02, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
Part-time - ouch. Does "writing" = "gathering more data" or "trying to figure out what the data means" (not that either is especially fun). -- MarcoTolo (talk) 01:20, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Both. And while training a first year grad student...--DO11.10 (talk) 17:02, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
...which is basically a full-time job by itself. Fun times. -- MarcoTolo (talk) 17:28, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. Long time no see. Colin°Talk 21:22, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, Colin - it's great to be back from my (much longer than expected) wikibreak. -- MarcoTolo (talk) 01:20, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
I just assumed you must have gone on Safari, your plane crashed and you lost all memory of your previous life. And that you spent the last year as a Bedouin tribesman. ;-) --DO11.10 (talk) 17:02, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Wow - you got three out of four.... ;-). -- MarcoTolo (talk) 17:28, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
You've been doing a lot of vandalism patrol. Do you want me to enable rollback for you?--DO11.10 (talk) 19:33, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Sure - it would make the process faster/cleaner. Vandalism patrol is easier to do while I'm waiting for stuff to finish running - and doesn't require as much focused attention as hardcore editing does. -- MarcoTolo (talk) 17:28, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
You should be all set. It is definitely nice to have!! --DO11.10 (talk) 19:26, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Rabies in popular culture

Going through the archives, you seem to have good knowledge on this article. I'm bringing back the "Popular culture" section with the rational here, and thought you would be interested. Also thanks, for the insight on temporal and spatial distribution. ChyranandChloe (talk) 04:27, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Medicine/Dermatology task force

I wanted to know if you (or any friends of yours) are interested in dermatology, and would be willing to help me with the WikiProject Medicine/Dermatology task force? Kilbad (talk) 15:41, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

No problem! Kilbad (talk) 23:22, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Way to alphabetize large list of links

I want to make this list more complete, and would prefer to just add diseases to the end of the list instead of looking where to add them within the alphabetized list; therefore, I wanted to know if there was some tag or "something" that will automatically output a list in alphabetical order? Kilbad (talk) 18:20, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Not that I can think of. The closest way I could image would be to use a sortable table structure, though this wouldn't automatically generate the sorted list, just allow it to be sorted after display. It might be possible to hack something together from sort mode tweaking. If this is something you want to set up just for editing, I use a freeware text editor (Notepad ++) and its sort function to alphabetize long lists, then paste back into my WP edit window. -- MarcoTolo (talk) 18:41, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply.. if I am going to use something outside of WP, I will just create a list in excel. Kilbad (talk) 19:51, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

User:Loganator3000

hey, if you wouldnt mind, would you tell me how you do all these cool things on wiki, like edit things and putting in edit shortcuts and putting in pictures or other things like that... or would you at least give me a site? and do you run this site?

--->http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Loganator3000

No, I don't run Wikipedia - no one person could. It's a pretty big project: there are about 1,600 administrators and a little over 8 million user accounts - I'm just an editor like you (okay, with a bit more experience). It can be a little hard getting started with Wikipedia, mostly because of its huge size. I'd suggest starting at the New contributors' help page and the Tips page. If you have specific questions, the Help desk is always "staffed". Of course, you can always ask me a question here, though I tend to have other, "real world" stuff to do sometimes. Hope this helps. -- MarcoTolo (talk) 01:46, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
thanks, you are very helpful!Loganator3000 (talk) 02:02, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

User:Loganator3000 - part 2

hey marco, its logan! sorry if i deleted what i put in, but we can restart our conversation, right? im not trying to be picky, but i was wondering if you knew any wiki-website that showed me all the meanings to these tool bars and what they do. and how you make your homepage and talk page so cool and organized. i understand if you are busy and can really answer me quik or specificly, but when you have time. i am kinda of a noobie and i am sure you understand. i also dont have time to read through every single page. i guess you can call me lazy, and i hope i am not a pest to you. if i am, say so... thanks a lot, you are so helpful! Loganator3000 (talk) 01:34, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Logan: Unfortunately there isn't really a website that explains everything quickly and easily - mostly that's because Wikipedia itself is such a huge project. And, yes, there is a fair amount of reading involved. That said, the fastest (smart) way to start editing that I can think of would be:
a) Look at the Getting started section of the Wikipedia FAQ;
b) Check out How to edit a page;
c) At least glance at Your first article;
d) Ask questions when you have them (and, no, I don't think pestering me). If you want help quickly, write {{helpme}} on your talk page, write your question directly below, and save it - like this:
{{helpme}}
Why is my table formatting all messed-up?
Someone will drop by (usually within a few minutes) to help.
If you want to set up your own userpage, I'm not really the expert: check out the User Page Design Center for details. -- MarcoTolo (talk) 22:14, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

--- thats what i was looking for... thanks!!!Loganator3000 (talk) 23:59, 1 December 2008 (UTC) ---

Your page "Toxin"

I just said, "Add a dictionary for the kids on the bottom of the page." You know like, the origin, synonyms, antonyms, if possible, pronounciations, etc. Keep in touch! --Catwoman7770 (talk) 01:30, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

(I think you're referring to this edit.) I understand your idea, but Wikipedia isn't a dictionary. There is a dictionary wiki (here); and they do have an entry for toxin with some of the pronunciation, origin info, etc. -- MarcoTolo (talk) 14:44, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Oh, I understand now. Thanks, it's cause I didn't know about wiki. AT ALL! I am such a retard! Sorry for bothering you! Keep in touch! Thanks again! --Catwoman7770 (talk) 20:34, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

And now, for Fvasconcellos' traditional nonsectarian holiday greeting!

  Wherever you are, and whether you're celebrating something or not, there is always a reason to spread the holiday spirit! So, may you have a great day, and may all your wishes be fulfilled in 2009! Fvasconcellos (t·c) 14:36, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
Is this a combination of my Christmas greeting from 2006 and my New Year's greeting from last year? Why, it most certainly is! Hey, if it ain't broke...

Can you look at Special:Contributions/Ymerino, I think we have another spammer. ChyranandChloe (talk) 03:24, 6 January 2009 (UTC)

Amoebiasis problem

Hi, since you have commented on my contributions I though you might be able to help as I am unsure what to do. 'Arcadian' has changed the meaning of Amoebiasis from the accepted WHO definition to include all amoebic infections and has moved both the Amoebiasis article content and discussion pages previously referring to Entamoeba histolytica infection and disease to new pages with the title 'Entamebiasis', which is not even a real word in my book (it should be Entamoebiasis since there is no organism 'Entameba'). I believe this change is totally unjustified and have made my points to Arcadian in the discussion page but without a reasoned response. I feel it is essential to revert to the previous structure but I do not know whether there is an approved way of doing this, whether I need permission from someone, or whether I just go ahead and cut and paste everything back to the way it was (I can't reverse the process as the original pages still exist). Can you advise? Thanks, Entamoeba (talk) 23:06, 14 January 2009 (UTC)

Was that a level four warning you gave to User 66.41.149.58 --Meteorman7228 (talk) 22:41, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

you are in error, twice

- firstly i never made an edit to talk page:bacteria... secondly you say you are busy until october.. that does not seem to be the case -- please tell me you aren't one of those internet people who always pretends they are busy when they never are. it's sad. accept who you are and that women (...or men?) find u unattractive. 67.212.19.182 12:59, 24 September 2009

AfD nomination of Introduction to evolution

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Introduction to evolution. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Introduction to evolution (3rd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:08, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
