Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), such as at Wikipedia:Teahouse, please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button   located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 14:35, 23 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

I appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but it is best if featured articles are nominated by people who have worked closely on them. In this way, they can give reasoned replies to reviewers and be familiar enough with the sources to act on suggested improvements. Someone who has not worked on the article can not provide this input, so the nomination may continue until opposition to it becomes so overwhelming that the article is failed; this takes away time from reviewers. While the Cricket article is of reasonable quality, it is not yet of featured quality, and principal contributors must be consulted before a nomination, as required in the featured article candidate instructions. --Laser brain (talk) 13:04, 24 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Good Article Process

edit

Hi and thanks for your nomination of Cricket as a Good Article. I have noticed that you have clicked and started the review page a couple of times. It is important that you not do this otherwise it looks like the article is being reviewed and so another reviewer won't pick it up for true review (and obviously you can't review for GA your own submission). The Good Articles page is currently backlogged and so there's a good chance you might have to wait a bit for a review (on average sports articles are currently waiting about 60 days). If you have questions about this, or the GA process, please ping me or leave a message on my talk page and I would be happy to do my best to try and answer them. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 15:57, 29 May 2018 (UTC)Reply

Map Collector, there is something even more fundamental to the GA process: if you wish to nominate an article to be a Good Article but you have not been one of the significant contributors to the article, the Good Article nomination instructions page says that you should first consult with these significant contributors—generally by posting on the article's talk page and allowing at least seven days for responses from people who know the article well and would know whether it was in fact ready to meet the GA criteria—before nominating them.
We greatly appreciate the enthusiasm of new editors to Wikipedia. We do strongly recommend that you get acquainted with how Wikipedia works and edit some articles to get used to writing content and understanding the various levels of quality of these articles and what standards are involved for Good Articles, Featured Articles, and others. Given that you have not done the proper consultation on the articles you have been nominating, I will be reverting these nominations at this time. Please do not make any additional nominations without fully following the instructions. Thank you very much. As is Barkeep49 above, I am happy to answer any questions you may have. Being a GA reviewer

edit

Hi, I see you're fairly new to GAN. I'm happy to advise on conducting the review, but basically if you do it fairly informally, keeping to the six criteria and asking for whatever small fixes you want (I'll respond promptly), you won't go far wrong. The process should not take more than a week at most. Do ask if you feel unsure about anything. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 12:11, 15 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

I'm not sure if you are intending to go ahead with this review, given the lack of response and indeed lack of editing activity. If it's too much - and it's a major article - there's no stigma in dropping the review - we can just ask (BlueMoonset) for it to be put straight back in the queue to await another reviewer. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 07:39, 20 June 2018 (UTC)Reply
Map Collector, though as I noted last month your enthusiasm for the GA process is admirable, it is very clear, based on your nomination of Bus Driver above, that you just don't understand what actually makes a Good Article. Even after I explained things above, you still have no true conception of how the Good Article process works or, more importantly, how to apply the GA criteria. (Worse, you didn't even follow what I told you above, which is that you need to get a consensus to nominate an article you haven't worked on first; with Bus Driver, you nominated first and asked second, which resulted in a wasted review: the article was miles away from being ready for GA, and had two templates on it noting serious deficiencies in verifiability and sourcing.
In Agriculture, you have taken on a very long and complex article with over 200 source citations and 7000 words. To do so as your first actual review is simply unrealistic: even the most experienced GA reviewers think twice before taking on such a massive challenge. Based on your inability to judge Bus Driver, which is less than a tenth the size of Agriculture, there is no chance that the review can be adequate to the task.
While I regret having to do so, I'm going to ask you to stay away from the Good Article process for the next several months at least. You need to gain a lot more experience on editing articles here at Wikpedia and how to judge their quality before you will be ready to try again either as a nominator or a reviewer. I hope you are not too disappointed; there are plenty of other ways in which you can contribute.
As Chiswick Chap suggested, I am arranging to have the review page deleted—there isn't any actual review text there yet—and put back into the pool of nominations awaiting a reviewer. Please do not attempt to reopen it. Thank you for your understanding. BlueMoonset (talk) 14:19, 20 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of World Quiz Simulator

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on World Quiz Simulator requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 13:10, 25 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Granny (Game)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Granny (Game), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
