Speedy deletion nomination of Manish Privet

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Manish Privet requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Writing about yourself

edit

It's something that is strongly not recommended on Wikipedia. If you are editing things on the encyclopaedia, you can use your user page (as you have done) to tell us a bit about yourself, but don't put in links to your sites, or your phone number, or your email address. Those can be picked up by spammers and others up to no good. To have an article here, a person must pass WP:BIO, with reliable independent sources WP:RS to prove the notability. In WP:AUTOBIO it explains that you are best not to write about yourself. Being harmless is not a reason for an article to exist. Failing WP:COPYVIO is a very good reason for an article not to exist, but passing that policy is not a reason for an article to exist unless the notability policy is passed. The same applies to other policies - failing WP:SPAM is a reason for deletion, but passing it isn't a reason for keeping. It's like a set of AND gates in logic - to have an article, you must pass BIO and RS AND the article must pass COPYVIO AND SPAM. Some day, you might pass BIO AND RS. If you do, you'll probably find someone has written about you already. Peridon (talk) 14:41, 27 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Aurora (Festival)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Aurora (Festival), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. • Manishprivet, Ritchie333 is an administrator, and saved the article from speedy deletion by cutting the advertising content from it and removing the tag. In addition, whether or not you have permission to use the college's wording, copyvio is a very serious thing on Wikipedia and the article could be deleted for that reason, too. (In any case, using the same wording as the college itself does is the reason the article was written inappropriately for Wikipedia; articles here are encyclopedia entries, not promotion, so they need to be written neutrally and usually much more briefly than by the organization itself. Summarize it in your own words in neutral language and it will be much more acceptable. Reverting an admin who fixed the problems that caused the article to be tagged for speedy deletion was not wise, and you actually reinstated the tag! So I did a quick save by basically reverting to Ritchie's version.
I see above that you've been having problems with your work getting speedy deleted. One way to avoid this is to write briefly and neutrally as I say above. But you might also consider submitting articles via Articles for Creation, which is a process where you create the article as a draft (usually either in your "sandbox" or by typing Draft: before the title when you first create it) and experienced Wikipedians then advise you on how to make it acceptable; it becomes a "live" article visible to readers only when it's judged to be ready, which gives you the benefit of advice and makes it much less likely that someone will tag your work to be speedy deleted.
