Flegged Definition

Hi Malo,

I see that you have marked the entry for 'Flegged' for deletion citing a lack of sources.

'Flegged' is a term that was coined midway through the 2006 Queensland State election and has been reused many times by the media (Courier Mail), politicians, political analysts and candidates.

It is similar to the now infamous 'Flegg Moment" where by Dr Flegg explained away his repeated mistakes and gaffes as "having a blonde moment"

Well that is interesting, but Wikipedia is not a dictionary either, WP:NOT#Wikipedia is not a dictionary. I believe this word to be a neologism, see also Wikipedia:Avoid neologisms as to why this is a bad thing. Movement of Fur (film) to correct name

Is there any chance that you could move this article to its correct name of Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus? The system says that it's a special page. (Pally01 18:53, 12 September 2006 (UTC))

It seems that this is a technical problem. Even I, as an administrator am unable to move this article to that location. That is because different language wikis are able to link to each other by prefixing the abbreviation before the article name. For example, the English wikipedia article on Apple, can be linked to by other wikis by creating a link such as [[en:Apple]]. It happens that Fur, is also a language, see Fur language. Hence there is a Fur language wikipedia, so when you try to move the article to Fur: An Imaginary Portrait of Diane Arbus , the wiki software thinks that you are attempting to move an english wikipedia article across to another wiki, which is strictly forbidden. I will take this issue up with some of the tech people and see what I can do. For now just leave the article where it is. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 01:54, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

I have no problems with your edit summaries. Believe me, I know how frustrating vandals can be, and as long as you don't insult them, you can say whatever you like. Could you take a look at this image again? It seems to be nothing more than a "by permission image." The image is a photograph of a painting. I noticed by a block that you did that you at least have sysop status on Wikipedia and I'd imagine that you're well versed in Wikipedia policies. I'm developing an infobox for religous buildings/ places of worship and I was wondering is it common practice to go ahead and just create the template? I've done the research and there apparently isn't any similar infobox and one has been proposed for several months, but no action has been taken. Lee Douglas Anderson block

I was just looking at the announcent for User:Lee Douglas Anderson on WP:AIV when you blocked him. It seems more like newbie edits than vandalism - his edit to Leafcutter Ants for example isn't vandalism. I think we should unblock him but make sure he's warned of any inappropriate behavior (and probably also given the standard welcome on his talk page). Brian Q

I represent Brian Quintana who is one of Hollywood's more notable producers. The links to Los Angeles Independent article, Court TV, and other news clips demonstrate the national media he has recieved.

In 1989 he befriended a young AIDS activist named Pedro Zamora. He arranged for him to testify before Congress at age 19 making him the youngest Latino to ever testify before Congress at that time. At the time Brian was a Congressional aide for the House committeee sponsoring the legislation. The two remained friends through his MTV Real World days. Brian who had also worked for the Clinton White ouse arranged for President Clinton to get Pedro's family released from Cuba so they could be reunited in the States before he passed away. Upon his death, Brian founded the Pedro Zamora Foundation and remains President of that foundation according to the California Secretary of State.

Judd Winick was a cast member of Pedro's, albeit a phony one that Pedro didn't particularly care for, and he served on the Pedro Zamora Foundation board of directors until he was ousted in 1998. Ever since Judd has tried to defame Brian, and tamper with various web postings. A Yahoo search will disclose a libelous article about Brian that Judd sponsors on one of his web sites. Unlike Brian, Judd does not have a college degree, national exposure (he did for one season of the Real World), or accolades from the President of the United States and countless other elected officials. Judd does not know Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, P-Diddy, or any of the other celebs Brian can boast to have worked with.

Though he may be controversial he is nevertheless notable. The fact that he was friends with Paris Hilton and a Judge ruled in his favor against her demonstrates his ability to go toe to toe with one of Hollywood's biggest(albeit contoversial)celebs. Judd is extremely jealous of him.

A former publicist of Brian's did the initial posting on Wikipedia. An editor cleaned it up considerably and it remained undispute for months. Then Judd using the name nightsream started tampering with it and having his friends question it on talk pages. Review Judd's history and you will see the same user names that try to discredit Brian's posting. Judd's page reads like an ad, was posted by himself, and should be permanantly removed. Similarly, Judd advertises himself on Pedro Zamora's site. There should be no reference to Judd on that site. He knew the Pedro for 20 weeks, and has cashed in on him by writing a book claiming they were best friends. it is not Brian's fault that Judd's done nothing with his life since leaving the Real World. Nor is it his fault that his work has made him a bigger media figure than Judd.

If you are a friend of Judd's I suggest you refer this to a more impartial administrator. You yourself have been aware of Brian's page for months and never attempted to remove it until judd contacted you. Brian's entry should never have been removed in the first place. I can become an administartor and delete Judd's site, but we have better things to do with our time. Is Brian the most notable figure to ever appear on Wikipedia? Not. But he is more worthy than most.

First of all I don't know who Judd is. Secondly, I think you should take some of your own advice and since you are obivously an acquantance of Mr. Quintana I suggest you refer this to more impartial editors in order to determine if this person really meets our criteria of notablility, WP:BIO. Also I have already explained to you, as has another user, that if you wish to contest this deletion, you should follow the procedure outlined at Wikipedia:Deletion Review. And while I have communicated with someone claiming to be Brain on more than one occasion through email, I have never to the best of my knowledge communicated with this Judd person whom you obivously view to be the bane of your existance. Further more I must protest at how people like you will try to use Wikipedia, not for the sake of building an encylopedia, but rather to build up their clientele and downplay anything that might make them look bad. Debian

Hi, Malo. I really have big question about Debian because I didn't even heard the Debian. In my opinion, Debian is similar to Linux based on operating System from GNU project. But I know What FireFox and Linux is. Firefox is an internet browser like "Internet Explorer" (Made by Microsoft) or Opera, but Linux (which is a combination of the name of the creator, Linus, with the UNIX operating system) is a full fledged operating system like Microsoft Windows or Mac OS X. I usually use Firefox to revert vandalism, and clean some articles. Do you use Mozilla Firefox or Linux when you clean the articles, and revert vandalisms? Is Debian similar to Linux (full fledged operating System)? What's good thing about Debian? could you please explain what Debian is in my talk page. (Respond on my talk page) Cheers! Why did you revert this? The source given says "all rights reserved", and the text the uploader wrote says "author specifically authorizes use for Wikipedia", which is not enough for our use. --NE2 21:59, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

My understanding is that this is the author's own self taken image and hence if they wish to license it as free for any purpose they are permitted to. USS Mayflower II (PY-1/WPG-183)"

Hello, Need some info or pics on the subject ship. My Dad was on this ship in 1943. He says it was a steamship on the Boston Nantasket line and was used to patrol the N.E. Atlantic. Any help is appreciated. Rlapre 20:02, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

Well there is an article regarding this ship at USS Mayflower (PY-1). According to the sources I have seen, it was indeed a steamship that moved between Boston and Norfolk, patrolling for U-boats between 1943 and 1945 or so. Confused about Malo's editing

Hey there! Today I posted text to the Apple section that I believe adds to the informative nature of the section. Basically, the information touches on the entities that take apples from orchard to market. It also provides information about controlled atmosphere storage, technology which makes it possible for apples to be available year round.

So...

The edit you are refering to here, I saw as being larely unrelated to the subject of Apples on the whole. But also I saw this edit as being potentially bias towards the particular company mentioned throughout. Lastly the problem of not citing sources is also a problem because other users need to be able to verify the statements you have made. I personally don't think the addition fits with the article. If you disagree, I suggest you leave mention of it on the article's talk page Talk:Apple, and see what the rough consensus is regarding your proposed addition. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 04:59, 8 December 2006 (UTC)

Texas A&M

Recently you removed images from articles relating to traditions at Texas A&M University. Reasoning being "removing image as I believe this usage violates its fair use license". I agree with this assessment but was wondering what suggestion you might have to show that those pages relate directly to traditions practiced at A&M instead of a mention somewhere in the article. I'm not sure I can tell you what would be best for what I think you want to do. Although the inculsion of the Category Category:Texas A&M University on each of those articles does seem to connect them to each other in some degree.
