To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own private sandbox for use any time. Perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}} on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.

October 2017 edit

Hello, I'm Theroadislong. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Susan Tedeschi have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 20:42, 3 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to David Lemieux (archivist). Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 20:44, 3 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

External links edit

Please note that the "external links" section of a Wikipedia article is only for the topic's own website about itself. It is not for adding extra links to podcasts or media coverage not being used as footnoted references for content in the article body — it is only for the person or group's own website. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 17:42, 23 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

While it's true that it happens on some articles, it's not supposed to. If somebody adds such a link to an article, that's not a license to go around doing the same thing to other articles as well — the correct response is to remove such links from the articles that they have been added to, not to go around adding it to others too. Media coverage about a topic may be added only as footnoted referencing for content in the article body, never as a standalone "external link". Bearcat (talk) 17:52, 23 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

So where should these useful "further info about the topic" interviews go?

Either find content in the article for which it can be used as a footnoted reference, or it goes nowhere at all. Bearcat (talk) 17:57, 23 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ok - I will work on this, I understand why this is the case.
