Orphaned fair use image (Image:Gregory Pratt (ER).jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Gregory Pratt (ER).jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Your lynx range map edit

It is wrong. Where is the marking for the population in the Dinaric Alps, Carpathian Mts. and in the Balkans? Observe this map: [1] --No.13 01:38, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's reliable trust me. You can read it in the article that the Lynx is present in central Europe. In fact the most numerous number of lynxes outside Siberia and northern Europe is in the Carpathian Mts. They are also present in Dinaric Alps, Balkans and in the southwestern Sudeten. Besides check this map, it's the general lynx range map [2] --No.13 02:55, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problem. The map now looks great and correct. Cheers. --No.13 10:28, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Range Maps as SVG edit

Hi. I had a look at some of the range maps you've been creating and they would be much better made as a Scalable Vector Graphic, rather than the raster png format. SVG graphics are very easy to make using free software. A good product is Inkscape and there are many tutorials online including some on WikiCommons/Wikipedia. If you are used to using Photoshop, or especially Illustrator, you shouldn't find the transition hard. There are many svg blank maps available in commons. All you have to do is add a layer with your distribution on.

Using SVG you would get a smooth line instead of the jagged red edge as seen on Image:Distribution L. lynx.png. I like the work you are doing, I'm just trying to point you towards some better practices. If you have any questions or want advice about svgs please ask and I will try to answer them.

Regarding the distribution maps, I was wondering if there is a reason you're making them on a map of the whole world instead of just the continents that are relevant? Personally I feel that only showing the relevant parts of the image will make the distribution clearer, but of course this opinion is open to debate! :-)
