Hello, Mackenziegall9, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. 16 Personalities Test

edit

Hi! I wanted to give you a little feedback on your addition to personality test and explain why I removed the content. You need to source the 16 Personalities Test with independent, reliable sourcing that shows that this particular test is noteworthy - avoid using the company itself to source the test. I did a quick search and didn't really find where it'd been covered in places that would be both independent of the test and be considered reliable. Most of them are either self-published or they don't have any indication that the work underwent the type of editorial process that Wikipedia looks for in a source.

Also, while it doesn't seem to be the same thing as the Myers–Briggs Type Indicator test, it's close enough that a few places refer to the Myers-Briggs test by this name, so you would also have to be careful that when places refer to a 16 Personalities Test that they're not referring to the Myers-Briggs test. In other words, they would have to essentially link to the website, mention the company that issues the test, or do something that would make sure that they're not referring to the Myers-Briggs test.

I went ahead and removed this since there is that ambiguity and the addition lacked secondary sourcing. You can re-add it once it has this sourcing, but be very careful. I would recommend that you look at the module on editing medical related topics here since while this may not automatically seem like it would fall under that category, personality tests fall within the realm of psychology and the best sourcing would likely fall under WP:MEDRS.

I hope you don't take this badly - the written content isn't bad and would be fine otherwise, it's just the sourcing you need to be careful about with this type of topic. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:22, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Some stroopwafels for you!

Don't take the last message badly - as far as your first edit on the mainspace goes, it was tons better than most of my first edits were on my main account! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:25, 5 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
