Hi, I hope you don't mind me commenting on the boxes, they look great. It goes get a bit messy with the City Circle, especially with the one way operation of some of the lines as you have put it. This operation is usually only in exceptional circumstances (eg trackwork), but there are occasional timetabled moves. The problem as I see it is that CityRail is not a metro with distinct lines on their own track, it has traditionally had a lot of odd moves in the timetable which are not reflected in the published map. The boxes could get messy if all timetabled moves are added. Maybe it would be worth going with someone's previous suggestion of treating the City Circle as it's own line, although I don't know how you would do the colours. - There's actually precedent for that kind of abstraction. German metros and S-bahns have the concept of the "stammstrecke"--best English translation might be the trunk line or mainline--over which most services will pass. On the Munich S-Bahn (see München Hauptbahnhof for an example) we used this to reduce seven lines to one, and used the neutral color grey. - I think that would be too complicated and confusing to readers not familiar with the system. Mackensen, I suggest that we not have a one way operation, but that the lines just change at Central as they do at present. If you want to put the change at Museum and Town Hall it should be made clear that they only change when the train gets to Central, not beforehand - it can't look like trains terminate at Museum or Town Hall - that never happens. I suggest we also get rid of the one-way operation - it's not the case. Trains from all lines run in both directions in the City Circle. - It's good, but still not quite accurate. Even though I don't like it and I'm causing trouble here, let's put in The Fulch's suggestion and make the City Circle a separate line as was done originally. That will solve all the problems. You will have to show, though, that the City Circle incorporates the 4 different lines and the directions they come from. And can we make the terminus of the North Shore line berowra or wyong, not just wyong? Wyong is only in peak hours and is theoretically part of another line. JRG 02:51, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
