Snowed-in trees edit

Just want you to know that you should never take the comments on FPC personally - we are criticising the pictures, not the photographers. As you may have noticed, many pictures do get very harsh comments, but that's the name of the game - my own first nom was shot down rather brutally... Don't despair, keep nominating, you may still have a FP!

As for removing a nomination, you can do it yourself - just add "removed" to the nom. page itself, and remove its line from the FPC page. Do not erase the votes on the nom page, we want to keep that archived. If you wish, I can do it all for you. Greetings, --Janke | Talk 08:13, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I removed it from the page, as you requested. Greetings, --Janke | Talk 08:33, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Request for input on Hawthorne effect edit

Hello, M,

I see that you contributed to the talk page of the Hawthorne effect. I'm proposing some major changes to the article. Would you mind checking out the talk page and posting your opinion? Thanks, Dblomgren 05:16, 17 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Computer and video games Vote edit

"Descrete pages covering each platform at length", eg. PC gaming platform, Console gaming platform, Aracade gaming platform, etc... Sorry, I'm just figured that was clear from all of the proceeding conversations. A platform would be a distinct form of technology (or devices) dedicated to gaming. Your #1 option is close but incomplete as a suggestion since it would lump all of this into the main page. BcRIPster 20:47, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Let me add to that after reading your question again. Software is not generally considered a platform. With the exception of something like Java and that's hotly debated.BcRIPster 20:55, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
The reason I ask is that to me a platform includes both hardware and software, so ps3 would be the platform and PS3 hardware and PS3 games would be seperate sections in each platform.M jurrens 20:59, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm... I'm not sure I see it that way myself I would think that the path flow would go something like this...
  • a page on video gaming that mentions and links to info on consoles (and highlights a few by name only).
  • a page on consoles that links to and mentions the PlayStation in general, maybe PS3 specifically and Sony. (flow forks from here)
    • path a) a page on Sony (add content to the relevant existing Sony pages if not already done) that mentions and links to all PlayStation and maybe specifically the PS3 page...
    • path b) a page on on the PlayStation that mentions Sony, PS3, etc...
    • path c) a page on the PS3 that covers the system from a high-level (social, historical, technical (which includes developmental), etc...). and it could also reference significant games and or peripherials for the system.
    • from there, if necessary, there could be links to pages that contain inforation such as "list of PS3 games", "list of PS3 peripherials" and/or "list of playstation peripherials" (this could be up for debate), etc... BcRIPster 21:29, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:DSCS Footprints.gif edit

Thanks for uploading Image:DSCS Footprints.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:07, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

File source problem with File:FBI Electronic Billboard.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:FBI Electronic Billboard.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
