File source problem with File:Herbert Mensah.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Herbert Mensah.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 14:35, 8 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Herbert Mensah with May 9th families in Accra Ghana.jpeg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Herbert Mensah with May 9th families in Accra Ghana.jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 14:35, 8 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Image deletions

edit

In looking at the notices above, it looks like you had two different problems. The first image did not have a source, and none was provided after we asked where the image came from. The other image did have a source, but was claimed to have been released to the public domain. The message above gave you instructions on how to request permission from the photo's owner. Either of these can still be fixed if you want to re-upload the image(s) with complete information. (ESkog)(Talk) 11:10, 20 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Help me!

Please help me with... How do I go about to create new Biographies of living persons?

MMZANetworx (talk) 08:39, 7 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Successfully creating a new article is probably the hardest task on Wikipedia, especially when it involves a living person. In the case of Draft:Maela Mandelli, the draft does little more than state that the person exists. Wikipedia articles must do more; articles must indicate with independent reliable sources offering significant coverage how the subject meets Wikipedia's special definition of notability; in this case, the more specific definition of a notable person. There are also specific criteria for certain career fields(athletes, musicians, etc.) If you have sources that show the person meets the relevant criteria, you can submit a draft as you already did in the case of the Maela Mandelli draft.
You may find it helpful to read Your First Article which describes what goes into creating a new article, and using the new user tutorial which describes how Wikipedia works more generally. 331dot (talk) 10:38, 7 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

January 2020

Hello MMZANetworx. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:MMZANetworx. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=MMZANetworx|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Coffee // have a ☕️ // beans // 11:07, 23 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

JUST ASSISTING FRIENDS

edit

Hi, I'm not making edits for money, but assisting a friend who is unsure about how to go about it.

What do I do now? MMZANetworx (talk) 11:20, 23 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

So you happen to be friends with CEOs at two different companies? Even if that's true, that means you have a conflict of interest issue and should not be directly editing articles related to them. Coffee // have a ☕️ // beans // 11:29, 23 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

  Hello, MMZANetworx. If you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about, you have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Coffee // have a ☕️ // beans // 11:35, 23 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
