Welcome! edit

Hello, MITHaystack, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few links to pages you might find helpful:

You may also want to complete the Wikipedia Adventure, an interactive tour that will help you learn the basics of editing Wikipedia. You can visit the Teahouse to ask questions or seek help.

Please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. Again, welcome! --mikeu talk 22:16, 10 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Your username edit

Hi, I think you should take a look at WP:ISU. Basically, having a username that's just the name of an organization isn't allowed. Eman235/talk 22:28, 10 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi, thanks for the good advice. We will not be doing COI editing, or anything like this request again, and will figure out an acceptable username. MITHaystack (talk) 19:28, 11 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Please add a contributing organization edit

I added Haystack to the list. The EHT site mentions computation at Haystack. Are telescopes at the observatory also collecting data for the project? --mikeu talk 22:51, 10 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I accidently added Haystack to the telescope list and then removed it when I realized the EHT participation. It looks correct to me now. It will take four days and 10 edits for your new account to become autoconfirmed for editing semi-protected pages, like articles about breaking news stories.
FYI the Wikipedia:Teahouse forum is a good place for someone new to ask for help. You might also find this essay Wikipedia:Expert editors of interest. It is not an official policy here but does contain some useful advice. Thank you on all counts; will follow your advice! Please come visit sometime! MITHaystack (talk) 19:22, 11 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
