I really don't think the discussion is going anywhere. I've suggested a rewrite to tone down what I consider to be clearly POV, but I guess other editors feel it's an "all or nothing" situation. I do understand that political feelings are strong in this area, but I also feel that the article should stick with the facts about what is known about this site verses highly POV soapboxing. I think it's possible to go to any number of political leaning Web sites ("reliable sources") and find a view that fits a particular POV. I don't feel that pushing a political view either way is appropriate for an encyclopedic article. Proxy User (talk) 08:34, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
- Regarding this article, I would like permission to remove the coordinates on the grounds that they do not come from a reliable source. I don't want to be involved in an edit war, but by the same token I don't believe it is appropriate to put up something as fact that we do not have a reliable source for. I have discussed it ad nauseum on the talk page but still have got no RS. Do I have permission to remove it without penalty until and unless a RS is found? AWB access
Hey ho, I was just wondering if you could re-enable my AWB access. It wasn't really necessary in the first place, as I would have stopped making those edits with AWB if you (or anybody, for that matter) had asked me to, but I guess that's neither here nor there. Inconsequential edits
Lightmouse seems to have quietly re-requested access at the checkpage and it was granted and he is still making edits such as this. Another concern is that he ran for four hours straight at approximately 8 edits per minute, however this may simply indicate he has doesn't mind clicking a mouse for four hours straight. I'm sure I don't understand what's going on concerning AWB access. But if Lightmouse and Closedmouth should not have AWB access to make inconsequential edits, shouldn't Colonies Chris be denied for the same reason? Tennis expert (talk) 22:32, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
Suspension of AWB accounts
I first want to say that I have disareed with the delinking of dates from the beginning, but the fact is, it did meet consensus (whether we agree with it or not) as a change and was posted appropriately to WP:MOS. If anyone wants to vote to change that I would be delighted to join in but until it does get changed then it should be followed and any dates that fall into that policy should be delinked. Furthermore it is my opinion that you have exceeded your authority by revoking AWB access to wikipedians who are attempting to keep articles in accordance with the MOS. I recommend that the access be restored immediately and I ask you to follow proper procedures for revoking access in the future. PS You did not revoke my access (not yet anyway) but I wanted to state my opinion on the matter. Additionally, since AWB cannot be used to add content or do large rewrites of poorly written articles many of the edits performed by AWB are in fact inconsiquential and tedious to do manually which is the whole reason for the application to exist.--Kumioko (talk) 16:07, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- You seem to assume that I'm against the change, when I haven't actually said as much anywhere. In fact, I've not really thought about it. There does, however, appear to be an absence of consensus to change every article. In any case, I'd stick by the view that wholesale editing of every article using AWB is not sensible, and will continue to remove access as and when I notice. Martinp23 17:47, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

- I hardly see how thats relevant since you keep suspending his access. Its hard for the bot to do its job when the application can't access WP don't ya think. Again, if you have a problem with users trying to enforce the rules in the MOS then do something to change it. Also, if delinking dates is considered a petty edit then someone should add it to the list of petty edits on the AWB page. Wikimedia UK v2.0
Hello! Thanks for showing an interest in Wikimedia UK v2.0. Formation of the company is currently underway under the official name "Wiki UK Limited", and we are hoping to start accepting membership in the near future. We have been drawing up a set of membership guidelines, determining what membership levels we'll have (we plan on starting off with just standard Membership, formerly known as Guarantor Membership, with supporting membership / friends scheme coming later), who can apply for membership (everyone), what information we'll collect on the application form, why applications may be rejected, and data retention. Information is given on the form about membership fees (£12/year standard, £6 for concessions); these need to be paid by cheque initially, although we hope to accept other forms of payment in the future. Applications should be submitted to me at the address given on the form. If you have any queries about the application process, please let me know.
We will formally start accepting members once we have a bank account, as we cannot process membership fees until that time. We will be submitting our application for a bank account in the very near future, and we hope to have this set up by the end of December at the latest.

No content in Category:Unassessed-importance Beekeeping articles

NPW
Hey Martinp, just started using NPW and I'm finding it really great. I just recently tagged a page for deletion (Oldest man in the world), and it came up with a MessageBox saying something like "Something sinister has happened, the page has been marked for deletion but the user could not be warned" it also asked me to report it to you. I presume it's just because somebody else using Twinkle tagged it at the same time, and we had an edit conflict on the user talk page, but thought I'd tell you anyway - Kingpin13 (talk) 22:08, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

NPW A7 warning for original creator
Hi Martinp23
I don't know the various configuration options for NPW, but it seems as though when a user tags a pages for speedy deletion (A7 at least), NPW doesn't automatically notify the original creator of the article of the deletion tag. This is antisocial behavior . . . perhaps you want to change the tool to discourage that.

Should I be concerned if I got a message regarding an edit I didn't do?
Hello,
I received a message saying that an edit I did to the Pojo.com page had been caught and removed as potential vandalism. I don't think I've ever been to that page (so I suppose it was vandalism); now the page has been deleted, so I don't even know what it was.
But my concern is: has the security of my account been violated? Is there anything I need to do to protect my account and/or computer from this or further use by some other user who is apparently vandalizing pages?
Thanks for your help in catching the vandalism on Wikipedia.

I think there were errors on the computer that may have made it think it was this IP address that made the edits. There is only one person using this computer from this IP address and there never any edits from IP address.

NPWatcher issues
