Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Lyndsayalarice. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Nancy Newman, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Per this comment which states that you edit on behalf of Newman. bonadea contributions talk 21:20, 23 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Nancy Newman

edit

Wikipedia does not publish original research. If content is verified by a reliable source, you can not remove it based on your own beliefs or experiences. Newman's work for CHCH is verified by the Toronto Star and her mother's maiden name is verified by Newman herself in the same article. Please do not remove any more content from the Nancy Newman article unless you can provide a reliable source that contradicts what is written. --Hirolovesswords (talk) 21:22, 23 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

  Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Nancy Newman, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Edit warring notice

edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Nancy Newman. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Jim1138 (talk) 01:17, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

  You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove or blank page content or templates from Wikipedia, as you did at Nancy Newman. - Mlpearc (open channel) 01:27, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

I am trying to delete information that has put Nancy Newman's safety at issue. I apologize if that is deemed as disruptive. Lyndsayalarice (talk) 01:29, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

And we are trying to make you stop, without blocking you ! - Mlpearc (open channel) 01:30, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

I understand what you are trying to do. But I am trying to assist in keeping a real person safe. I am not trying to be disruptive, but simply delete unnecessary information online that can harm an individual. I would rather come to a compromise about what to put on Nancy Newman's webpage than keep going back and forth with editing. I do not see why including the name she used in Canada must be on her Wikipedia page. It is not currently referenced in her YES Network bio, where she is currently employed. That website can be referenced for accurate information on Nancy Newman. Lyndsayalarice (talk) 01:35, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

You say you are attempting to keep a person "safe". Yet you keep using the edit summary Deleted inaccurate information regarding mother's "maiden name" and beginning of career. What else are you being deceptive about? Jim1138 (talk) 02:01, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your questions. I will start a talk page for Nancy Newman with my suggested edits. I have found websites that reference where I obtained my information - such as starting her career in Scarborough, not Barrie. Lyndsayalarice (talk) 02:03, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
