Thanks for your messages. I know it can be disheartening to have your work deleted, or nominated for deletion at an early stage in your wiki-career, so apologies for that. What a mess

edit

By moving your talk page here, you may have made the process of changing your user name more difficult. See WP:RENAME. I am not an expert on changing user names, but it can be a difficult and lengthy process. The advice there which seems most applicable in your case (as a "new" user) is simply to set up a new account from scratch and just discard the old one.

So I suggest you try the following steps:

1. Log out, then try to create a new account under the name Roger Delacroix. (You should have done this BEFORE moving your user pages).

2. If this works, then everything is fine.

3 (a). If it doesn't work because someone else already has an account under that name, obviously try another name (perhaps "Roger Delacroix 2").

3 (b). If it doesn't work because the Wiki software doesn't like the fact that a talk page (and sub-pages) already exist under that name, then we have problems.

4. If 3(b) applies, then (and this might not work, or the Wiki software may give you some better advice):

(i) temporarily move this page and subpages back over the old ones. This will only work if no-one has made any changes to them, otherwise you will need to request admin assistance.
(ii) request speedy deletion of this page/subpages (which should just be redirects) using {{db-author}}.
(iii) Wait for the pages to be deleted, then repeat step 1. above. If that doesn't work, then you're fucked, and we need to think again.

I've written a (favourable!!!) reply to your earlier question, but won't post it until you've sorted out this mess. NSH002 (talk) 19:14, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Non-free image use on userpages

edit

Hi Luke de paul (or Roger Delacroix). I just wanted to let you know that I removed File:All 4 logo.png from User:Roger Delacroix/sandbox per WP:UP#Non-free images. Unlike the freely licensed logos you've added to your sandbox (for example, File:BBC.svg and File:STV logo 2014.png, etc.), the "All 4 logo" is a non-free image which means its usage of it must comply with WP:NFCC. There are 10 non-free content criteria that each usage of non-free content must satisfy for it to be properly used on Wikipedia and one of these is WP:NFCC#9 which says that such content may only be used in the article namespace. This means non-free images are not allowed to be used on userpages, which includes userboxes or templates (see WP:UBX#Caution about image use). For reference, we as individual editors do not own our user pages just like we do not own the articles we create or edit. Any user may edit another editor's user page if they feel that doing so is justified according to Wikipedia's policy and guidelines and the inappropriate use of non-free content is typically considered one of those cases where doing so is considered acceptable. If you would like some other opinions on this, feel free to ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions or even at a place like Wikipedia:Teahouse. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:27, 8 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Your contributed article, The Beatles Anthology (albums)

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, The Beatles Anthology (albums). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Anthology 1, Anthology 2, and Anthology 3. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Anthology 1 – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. — Diannaa (talk) 21:10, 28 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Anthology 1 , Anthology 2, and Anthology 3 a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into The Beatles Anthology (albums). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 21:11, 28 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of A Tree Full of Secrets

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on A Tree Full of Secrets, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay.   Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! 220 of Borg 14:53, 2 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Decolonisation of Europe & Asia

edit

The article Decolonisation of Europe & Asia has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Duplicates the scope and content of Decolonisation of Asia

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 17:50, 2 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 72 hours for persistent disruptive editing. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may request an unblock by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Dennis Brown - 21:42, 26 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Recreating material that was deleted at WP:MFD and trying to hide the fact that you were doing such by using IPs and blanking, that is disruptive. It certainly wasted some of my time. If you continue, you will be blocked for a longer period of time. Dennis Brown - 21:43, 26 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • You were blocked due to the fact you'd been recreating sandboxes with the exact same content despite being told more than once to stop, Adding all of that crap on your talkpage[1][2][3] and then blanking it[4][5][6] does you no favours and if you carry on you'll end up with a longer block, If you want to edit navboxes fine however you don't need to repeatedly store them, Anyway you're only blocked for 2/3 days so I would kindly suggest you go away for a few days and come back with a fresh mind. –Davey2010Talk 16:39, 27 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
