The neutrality label was taken off of this page because it has been there for a few months now, and still no one has anything to say about it in the discussion, ie pointing out where it occurs.

It was not vandalism or anywhere near vandalism. And I hope your other "vandalism" finds are more real than this one, or else you should hand your medals back.

And instead of sending me a message Mr. Hall Monitor why don't you just fix the article. Else leave it alone. --Itchy-Finger 16:20, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

An individual with IP address 65.96.234.178 is constantly engaged in vandalizing the Iran article. I have checked his so-called contributions, and it seems that he/she is targeting articles related to Iran. So could you please warn him or block him from editing in order to stop his childish vandalism? Thanks Zoroastrian 08:15, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Luke, on the same subject, I undid a couple of vandalizing edits by user with the IP address 71.123.240.56 . What else should be done? Should I leave a message telling him to stop it, or does an administrator does it? Merci.Ninarosa 04:28, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Luke, the article on Blaise Pascal has been vandalized basically every other day by unregistered users. How can I protect it? Thanks.--Ninarosa 01:35, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Question on vandalism warning

It appears that last month you gave [1] the User:Thijs!bot bot a {{test2}} vandalism warning because it added [2] interwiki links to Jackass (TV series). Was this just a simple mistake, or are you unfamiliar with InterWiki links? Thanks, --Kralizec! (talk) 18:01, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Woops, VP2 bug, the edit I reverted was that one

You bot is useless

I revert vandalism and your bot reverts back to the vandalism. Congrats, you loose! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 172.130.232.217 (talk) 21:23, 8 January 2007 (UTC).

Answered on this user's talk page. edit

Thanks for the correction. I now get it, however have another problem you could help me on. I would like to make Talk like yours (using of course my User Name). I have it just like yours, with my User Name however it doesn't work. Can you look at My Preferences to see where I made the (obvious) mistake. Thanks again....--Doug talk 22:05, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
I just checked it from your User talk page and it seems to be working properly. Perhaps that is the problem, that "Talk" will not work from my pages (actually I think that makes sense, since why would one want to talk to oneself - which I do all the time anyway, so that's why I didn't notice this). --Doug talk 22:09, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Semi-Protect

Dude, perhaps we should semi-protect your user page and talk page. The vandalism on the talk page is even more prevalent on this page than the main user page. It's really bad; thank god we have a scapegoat valuable user who doesn't mind taking so much crap. DoomsDay349 22:15, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

How would I have fun without the regular idiots vandalizing my page? :( No to be honest I take it as a proof my work is useful here (and that the vandals think I am quite effective ;). If it really gets out of hand I will consider asking for my userpage protection (since I often miss the vandalism there). Thanks for the advice though :) -- lucasbfr talk 22:43, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Certainly an interesting case who finds enjoyment in vandals harming his page. But hey, to each his own. I'll keep it on my watchlist, nonetheless. DoomsDay349 21:19, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Articles of unclear importance

Hi! You probably won't remember it but last June you tagged Boron phosphide as being of unclear importance. The tag being still there and the article not being updated, I was considering removing it from there (the backlog at Category:Wikipedia articles with topics of unclear importance from June 2006 is huge) since the article is already marked as a stub. What do you think about that? Do you have any idea on how to improve such articles (a lot of Chemistry components are marked as such). Thanks for your input! (I would appreciate if you could answer me on my talk page. I might miss your answer otherwise, my watchlist being overcrowded) -- lucasbfr talk 20:33, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Well, the way to improve them is to do some actual research and write interesting things about them. I try not to get involved in discussions about whether to remove some tag or leave it there, because either way it doesn't actually improve the article. So go ahead and remove it if you think it'll help people be more productive. —Keenan Pepper 04:03, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Until a minute ago (when I got this) I had never been to the Kimbo Slice page. I've got no idea who he is and certainly have never made a change to the page. I think you pointed your finger at the wrong goober ;) -- but thanks for the tip on the Sandbox, that's helpful.

The answer is that it seems that your IP address changes every time you reload a page (you changed your IP twice while writing me). Therefore you probably catched a message intended for an other user :). Hope that helps :) -- lucasbfr talk 16:01, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

You Are Not God

You are a Wikipedia fanatic. And with all things fanatism is not good, it hurts everybody and everything. You assume you know best, over everybody, you never accept responsibility your replies to people imply that you are above all else. You need to take a 4 week vacation and come back to wiki. Yes people who purposefully vandalize hurt wiki, but people like yourself that treats everyone as a criminal also hurt wiki, you need to wake up and stop treating people like trash just because you think you know right. Itchy-Finger 16:55, 11 January 2007 (UTC) And this time I didn't forget to sign it.

Ok, settle down buddy. I don't know why you have a grudge against me. My answer was short for 2 main reasons: I am at work right now and I assyme my employer is paying me to work better than surfing on Wikipedia. I am not vandal fighting during work hours. :) But I wanted to answer him ASAP since I know I couldn't reach him otherwise (even this way I think he will never see my message). I don't feel my answer was a know it all thing or condescending. Perhaps I was wrong but in that case I invite him (not you) to tell me so, I am always happy to lean something new in English. Why didn't I apologize? Because there was no mistake on my side (and God knows I am prone to apologize when I am at fault). I checked the edit and the warning was deserved. But this user's IP is changing each time he reloads a page so we can assume he got a message intended to someone else. I am more than happy to explain what I do, and I think that's what I did. -- lucasbfr talk 18:37, 11 January 2007 (UTC)

Thanks again

I am the IT teacher at the school concerned. The people who made the malicious changes (those who logged in anyway) are not connected with the school as far as I know. I can't comment on the issue itself as I have not been directly involved and I believe it is still undergoing legal process. I started the article as a way of introducing Wikipedia to my students, so I didn't want them to see some of the things being said. Anyway, there are other places on the internet for these people to express their opinions, so I welcome them to go to or create a more appropriate forum, not Wikipedia. To the best of my knowledge, my edits to the article have been factually correct.

Thank you for adding it to your watch list.

Columns

Hi Lucas, you seem to know more about scripting than I do. If you have a couple of secs, is there any chance that you could look at the overview table, and reduce the width of the title column on the left as it's a bit large please. Cheers Khukri (talk . contribs) 15:33, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

I tweaked the width to 40% of the total table width. That's far from perfect but that's the only simple workaround I could think of. Tell me if that's better -- lucasbfr talk 15:45, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
That's a bit better, I might drop it down to 30%, but do you know at the same time how to make all the rows the same height, just for aesthetics. I'm struggling with the new page at the mo making sure I don't lose any of the single issue templates. Hi Lucas,

Thank you for your message regarding the biography of Professor Pham.

I have put the phrase "All text is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License." with a link to the licence at the end of the page at: http://www.mec.cf.ac.uk/~spepp1/.

Is that what is required?

Hi Lucas,

I am new to Wikipedia.

I would like to create a company profile for Chip eServices, similar to that of Global Logic and the other Software-as-a-Service providers but I cannot find similar templates.

We are a SaaS company and I would like to create a brief company profile outlining our contribution to the Software-as-a-Service model.

I would appreciate your help, Rose.

Re article removed

Hi Lucas,

I am totally confused!

I thought that there was no problem with the article about the Manufacturing Engineering Centre (MEC) and the issue of copyright for the biography of Prof. Pham has been setlted.

To my amazement, this morning, I found out that the article was deleted, without any warning, by some so-called administrators who think that an article about a very well-known university research centre is 'blatant advertising' whilst an article about the fast food chain Mc Donald is not!

It looks like there is a total communication break down in the wikipedia organisation. It is a complete waste of time to write any article in Wikipedia when anyone could remove it as he wishes.

Hi Lucas,

We think it is important that readers of Wikipedia's SaaS article are aware of our software. According to your SaaS article we cannot be listed as an SaaS vendor unless we have a company article. We accept that our company, of itself, may not be of interest within Wikipedia. However, we develop software that is extremely innovative in the SaaS space and we feel that our company should be listed in the SaaS article. SaaS is an emerging technological and marketing phenomenon. We believe that researchers in this area should have access to the most extensive cross section possible of practitioners in the field.

I would appreciate your feedback.

Thanks, Rose.

--Chipeservices 13:48, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi, and thank you for your question. My own opinion is that you shouldn't advertise yourself on Wikipedia, because that would lead to a strong Conflict of Interests since you are actually selling something, and Wikipedia should in no way be used for advertisement. You should be extra careful if you decide to do so nevertheless. I pointed you to the relevant guidelines to follow, namely Conflict of Interest and Corporation Notability. You can also read the Spamming policy (especially the How not to be a spammer section) and What Wikipedia is Not if you want further informations. What happens most of the time is that if your technology is a major breakthrough, surely an editor will write about it in the future.
