Proper use

edit

This page is for messages between you and other Wikipedia editors. I have moved the previous content to User:Louieblakesarmiento/sandbox.

Please read these concerns about your edits. Please reply here, rather than my talk page. certainly I have noticed: in Schuyler Colfax we do not quote Wikipedia as a reference; Theta Rho Girls is hopelessly unencyclopedic (lots of "you"s) and is probably a copyvio. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 14:45, 13 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

OK, I'm very impressed! Where did you find a copy of "Gentleman's Magazine, September, 1798"? Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 10:21, 11 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

I did not find a copy but Dr. Bob James, a journalist who is trying to study the history of Odd Fellows and fraternal organizations, stated in his research that Odd Fellows was mentioned in a funeral or something and the source is that.
Fair enough. Not nearly as impressive as actually having a copy yourself, but good enough for Wikipedia purposes. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 12:22, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Stanley Baldwin

edit

Please find a reference for your edit about Baldwin being a member of a society in Manchester. I'm removing it for now, as it is well out fo place in the lead of a former British Prime Minister. bigpad (talk) 18:24, 21 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

It was mentioned in the book "The Oddfellows 1810-2010, 200 years of making friends and helping people, that Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin was a member of the Manchester Unity of Independent Order of Odd Fellows and he showed appreciation to the society in his address to fellow society members in 1934, before becoming Prime Minister again, he said: 'Your society has been a very human one - trial, error, victory, success. It is not the story of superman. That is what I like about it so much.'

Ok, then please feel free to find the page no. and add in that reference further down the article! And rem. to add in four of these characters "~" at the end of your comments to sign and date them. Regards, bigpad (talk) 11:42, 22 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
