Welcome! edit

Hello, Lmaxmarketing, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Talk:LMAX Group, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:11, 24 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

Hi, Please could you unblock this username, we incorrectly tried to suggest edits to our company wikipedia page via an poorly chosen username (lmaxmarketing) i understand i must suggest edits as an individual and declare my interest aka I'm an employee of the company and i'm looking to make a couple of small factual edits to our companies wiki page. I have created a new account with an individual username and declared my status as an employee (username: pippawiskin) and now the whole IP address is blocked. Thanks, Pippa

Decline reason:

Per below, and you didn't even bother to submit a new username. — Daniel Case (talk) 06:37, 27 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

It's not your "company's Wikipedia page", but a Wikipedia article about your company. Your company does not own it and has no more rights to it than any other editor. As I reviewed your prior request, I will leave this for someone else to review. 331dot (talk) 17:00, 25 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Lmaxmarketing (talk) 08:08, 27 May 2022 (UTC) Hi, i tried to create a new account that fits the user guidelines - this is 'pippawiskin' - this is also blocked as it shares an IP address with this incorrectly named username 'lmaxmarketing', so i'm blocked across both. I'm trying to suggest a couple of factual changes for review eg number of employee at LMAX Group, as well as the published 2020 revenue figures and the 30% acquisition of the company (all with references), but i seem to be unable to speak to anyone due to the ip address block. I'd really appreciate if someone could help me. Thank youReply

  • Daniel Case Just noting that they didn't propose a new username because they want to use their User talk:Pippawiskin account that I blocked as a sock/meat puppet. I told them that the operator of this account needed to appeal. Pippawiskin, you can only do this if you were the operator of this account initially. 331dot (talk) 08:45, 27 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
(edit conflict) The Pippawiskin account is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry, which is our term for creating a new account to circumvent a block on the old one – i.e., what you've done. To be unblocked you will need to address the three bullet-points (Disclose ..., Convince ..., Describe ...) in the block notice I left you above. If you do that it may be possible to unblock one of your accounts. Please note that you won't in any case be unblocked to continue promoting your company.
