We are running out of images! We only have 2 days left of images! Please contribute to the image pages. Thanks, --GeorgeMoney T·C 01:30, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Why did you revert my edits to your friends list? --GeorgeMoney T·C 02:03, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your sig edit

I really don't mean to be badgering you about your signature, but I think you might have missed the question I asked you back here. By the way, you've been doing a great job since your RfA. I'm glad you didn't let it get you down. --TantalumTelluride 03:24, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the reply. Tony Sidaway has recently changed WP:SIG to say "Images of any kind should not be used in signatures," in compliance with a straw poll on the talk page. To tell the truth, I don't really care about images in signatures; I often ask questions about it in RfAs so that I can gain some insight regarding the nominee's attitude towards the elasticity of Wikipedia guidelines. For example, I would not be pleased to see a nominee who ignores all rules for the heck of it, but I would also not like to see a process wonk. --TantalumTelluride 03:43, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Oh, yeah, today is Brion Vibber Day. Please forgive me for not greeting you in an artificial language. --TantalumTelluride 04:02, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Signature edit

You know... images are still allowed. WP:SIG is a guideline, not a policy. --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:15, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Let's put it this way. Images are highly discouraged, and will likely get you beaten over the head by a lot of contributors. They cause pages to load more slowly for users, and tend to be a nuisance. Besides, a guideline generally means "you should follow it, but we can't ban you for it." I would suggest leaving it without the image. Ral315 (talk) 06:25, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
My sig used to be 7 lines long. I changed it because I didn't want other users to get mad at me. I am just saying that you still are allowed by the rules to use images, but not by the community. I never suggested to actually use them, I just said what the rule was. --GeorgeMoney T·C 14:32, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Linuxerist, please stop using your signature for making a point. If you think images should be allowed in sigs, discuss that in the appropriate places, your signature is not the place for policy discussions! Kind regards, --JoanneB 18:38, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sometimes the simplest signatures are the best. For what it's worth, I like your signature as-is. Ral315 (talk) 19:59, 1 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

POTD edit

What happened? I decided to not leave. --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:03, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Can you please move it and all the subpages back? I can't, because I have disabled my "move" tab, and I am very busy at the moment. --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:06, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Nevermind. I already did it. But, I see your enthuseasm with the POTD. Would you like to be co-president? Well, weather you choose or not, you are still co-president :) --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:31, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, I am talking about if rain falls on you or you get hit by a block of hail, you are still copresident :) --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:39, 2 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

My RfA edit

Thanks
Linuxerist/June 2006, thank you for participating in my RfA. Unfortunately, a great number of oppose voters felt that I lacked experience, and a consensus was not reached (the final tally was 30/28/10). Perhaps I will try again in another few months when I have a few more edits under my belt. If I do, I hope I can count on your support. Thanks again! Cool3 talk 21:00, 2 June 2006 (UTC) (UTC)Reply

need help with signature edit

I am having trouble with my signature! I tried to follow the instructions in that tip of the day, but they dont seem clear enough. When you have time, can you edit my subpage User:adam the atom/signature into a signature as follows: my username adam the atom, all in small letters, bold, and with the image Flag of Canada.svg on either side with a height of 12 and a width of 24. also make sure clicking on my name goes to my talk page, not my user page. greatly appreciated. Adam the atom 01:08, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I have created the sig. How do you like it? --GeorgeMoney T·C 01:50, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

thanx edit

cheers Adam the atom 02:05, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

oh thats ok ill modify it myself, now that it works atleast. Adam the atom 02:16, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you that was very kind. edit

Thanks for that Linuxerist, all the people telling me not to get to stressed has helped me a lot. ILovePlankton 02:36, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

potd edit

Now that you are co-president, I don't think its fair that the potd is in my userspace. I suggest we move it to User:LinuxMoney/potd. What do you think? --GeorgeMoney T·C 03:50, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your idea is a good idea. There is just one problem. The reason I put it in the userspace is because I know somebody would delete it. Also, you and me as co-presidents wouldn't really matter in the wikipedia namespace. In the userspace, we have more control over everything. So, lets say somebody put an image that was fair use, and I wanted to delete it. I could just put a {{db-owner}} on it and it would get deleted. In the WP namespace, nobody owns the pages. --GeorgeMoney T·C 03:59, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
{{db-author}} is if you created the page. {{db-owner}} is if it is one of your subpages. And, ok, lets make the transition. I have to notify all POTD members of the namechange using the POTD Spamlist after we make the move. --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:05, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Should we also make a rule that says that you can't upload other peoples' images even if you give credit to them? --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:24, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Also, should we make it so instead of putting {{Wikipedia:Random picture of the day}} on their userpage, they should just use {{rpotd}}? --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:26, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, there is a template called {{POTD}}, so I created one called {{rpotd}} --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:29, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Wise I'll try to be.

You are certainly an excellent user yourself, and I really appreciate your positive comments about being trusted with the admin tools. Thanks again!

Question edit

You are not realy 12 years old, as it says on your userpage, are you? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adam the atom (talkcontribs)

My RfA edit

Thank you for the trust that you had in me when you supported my Request for Adminship. The nomination ended successfully and I am actually overwhelmed by the support that I received. Thanks again! -- Kim van der Linde at venus 07:05, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Question edit

Why do you insist on changing one of the images i nominated at Wikipedia:Random picture of the day? The whole point of that project is that anyone can add a picture, and that there are no requirements (other than obvious copyright ones). Please explain your reasoning. --Hetar 17:17, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please. Can we just settle this? I don't want to get involved in this edit war. There are no restrictions except for copyright. If you want to nominate someone else's pic, please tell them. The only real restriction is copyright. --GeorgeMoney T·C 19:11, 3 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
We did agree. Read my comment on the MfD. I really don't want to get involved in this. --GeorgeMoney T·C 02:33, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, did you read that the MfD was not the way to go? He should have just explained on the talk page what the problem was. --GeorgeMoney T·C 02:36, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I knew we shouldn't have moved it into the Wikipedia space. I know that in User space pages can still be MfD'd, but we still have much more control over it. --GeorgeMoney T·C 03:50, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, you could be right. Maybe it's just only Hetar who is giving us trouble. --GeorgeMoney T·C 15:03, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

My Thanks edit

I wanted to drop a brief note on your talk page (one admittedly not written to you only, but nevertheless truly meant) to thank you for your vote in my Request for Adminship, which concluded this evening. Even though it was unsuccessful, it did make clear to me some areas in which I can improve my contributions to Wikipedia, both in terms of the areas in which I can participate and the manner in which I can participate. I do plan on, at some point in the future (although, I think, not the near future), attempting the process again, and I hope you will consider participating in that voting process as well. If you wish in the future to offer any constructive criticism to me, or if I may assist you with anything, I hope you will not hesitate to contact me. Thanks again. — WCityMike (T | C) ⇓ plz reply HERE (why?) ⇓ 04:25, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Attention All POTD members! edit

Wikipedia:Random picture of the day (formerly User:GeorgeMoney/potd) has been nominated for deletion by Hetar because he doesn't like a rule that could have just been discussed on the talk page instead of nominating it for deletion. Please vote on the MfD page. Thanks, GeorgeMoney T·C 15:26, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! edit

Have a Wilhelm Hasenclever ;) -- grm_wnr Esc 21:10, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I would recommend submitting the article to peer review first (in fact, I recommend doing this right now - for the time being, I've submitted it to WP:DYK) because I'm not a specialist on 19th century socialists and also because the article as it is now doesn't stand a shred of a chance on FAC since it has no inline citations (de doesn't require them for FAs). -- grm_wnr Esc 21:37, 4 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello edit

Yes, all I've ever done is put myself on your friends list, and engaged in a conversation about Scots and Latin (great contribution to the friendship, Snopake). So, withought further ado, here it is: hello!! Sergeant Snopake 09:54, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, one of my siblings (all of them, in fact - but I can't say who; we don't want to be affiliated with one another) is a wikipedian, and when he told me about it, I decided to join. I probably shouldn't have used a semicolon up there, but it made my ideal sentance (comma, hyphen, and semicolon - my three favourite punctuation marks). Sergeant Snopake 13:40, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Please, you have to tell me who! I won't be able to confirm nor deny it, of course. Sergeant Snopake 18:57, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Actually, Oreos and General Eisenhower aren't my siblings. I really can deny this. But I will deny no more (so that if I kept denying it, and then you get it and I can't confirm or deny it, it pretty much confirms it for you). I could easily see how you'd think that Oreos was my sister. I will tell you this, though. I have two brothers and one sister. If you figure it out (or have any suspicians at all!), you must tell me! Sergeant Snopake 19:45, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, no. I must stop telling you! Sergeant Snopake 19:57, 5 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Stub Sorting Question response edit

Why is microcomputer more specific than PDA? A PDA is a type of microcomputer, so I am a bit confused by this edit of yours. I am going to go ahead and revert, but if feel free to revert my revert if you have reasoning. LINUXERIST@ 01:52, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

The main problem I have with the PDA-stub is that it's not supposed to exist. Stub types need to be proposed here before they can be created. I agree that PDA-stub is good, but it needs to go through the formal process first. I hope that explains my edit. I'm going to go ahead and change it back to what I had. If you have any more questions, let me know. Amalas =^_^= 22:37, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Linuxerist/June 2006, and thank you for the supportive vote on my recent RfA! With a final vote of 84/1/4, I have now been entrusted with the mop, bucket and keys. Hey Linuxerist, I like your new signature, but I thought you should be aware of a minor caveat. You have a vertical bar in your signature (as I do in mine), and I've found that as the vertical bar is a special character on wikipedia, I've run into some interesting side effects espically when passing my signature (4 ~s) as a parameter to a template. I've also found if I replace it with the unicode equivalent | or surround it with <nowiki> tags it doesn't have such behavior saving alot of headaches. Just thought I'd be helpful and let you know! --Charlie( t | e ) 02:59, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the suggestion, it will help in the future. I will keep it for now, to reduce the code, as well as keep it cleaner, but I will create a subpage with an alt. version for templates. ―Linux|erist 03:55, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I was overjoyed, shocked, and humbled by the tally, and, most importantly, all the support. Thank you. If there is ever anything you need, you know where you can find me. Take care.

See you in IRC. Adminship is not too far away for you, my friend :) --Pilot|guy 22:43, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Congrats! :) ―Linux|erist 23:02, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm sure many of you who are using monobook have noticed recently an ugly sitenotice saying something about wikimania and scholarships. Well, to remove that, put the following in your monobook.css:

/* REMOVE THAT UGLY SITENOTICE */

#siteNotice {
    display: none;
}

I hope this is of any help to you!

Thanks, --GeorgeMoney T·C 19:08, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please answer. edit

I've been trying to get in touch with you on GTalk, email and finally here because I'd just like to ask a question: Why are you leaving?

It's fine and good to leave if you need a break, but we're your friends and we want to know why. Maybe it's something we can help you with. Please answer the question, even if it's in a private e-mail.

You told me you were 'quitting everything' in a message on google talk, yet you didn't even give me enough time to respond, let alone ask why. It irks me but I don't "hate" you for it. You've said you were leaving wikipedia before and came back several times. Do you really mean it this time? If so, it begs the question why. We're your friends and we care..we want to know if there's something we can do to help. — Nathan (talk) 00:32, 22 June 2006 (UTC) struck out comment - I know why now. - NathanReply

What he said. --GeorgeMoney T·C 00:34, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hey, I barely know you and I detest histrionics but you seem like a nice guy making some good contributions here. I'd disagree that people hate you here; if anything I'd say the contrary is true. Would be great if you'd reconsider. Thanks -- Samir धर्म 04:48, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't know you personally very well at all, but I do know that you are a good, valued contributor, and, more than that, a trustworthy friend to many wikipedians. It would be terrible to see you leave. The Halo (talk) 16:34, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
What Nathan said. Seriously, what would we do without our Penguin? Please explain to us why you're leaving. We don't want to stop you leaving, if that's what you really want, but we really just want to know why and see if we can help at all. I'd put more, but Nathan said it all. Check this. Also see the entry on Esperanza Alerts. FellowWikipedian 21:06, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

For what it's worth, when I see people leaving, I just say, "Good-bye and good luck." I don't think it's worth trying to convince people to stick around. This is, after all, only a volunteer project, and the odds of success of getting someone to reverse his mind on such a low investment are small. If they want to come back later, that's fine; they'll do it on their own. But trying to convince people to stick around against their will and self-determination only leads to bad things. --Cyde↔Weys 19:46, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Cyde has a point. Still, you will certainly be missed here - I hope all goes well. -- Natalya 04:55, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
True. I hope things get better. — Nathan (talk) 06:32, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

You will be missed. —Nightstallion (?) 10:33, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

My (Mtz206) RfA edit

Thanks for supporting me in my RFA. My Request was successful with 41 supports, 12 opposes and 5 neutrals, and I'll do my best to live up to your expectations. If in any point in the future you get the feeling I'm doing something wrong, do not hesitate to drop me a line. -- mtz206 (talk) 02:35, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Come Back edit

You were the one that got me to come here; please come back. I need your help. //Ae:æ 20:52, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, please come back. Many people have asked you. --GeorgeMoney T·C 02:12, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
While I cant force you to change you're mind about leaving, I do hope to hear from you again. — The King of Kings 07:46 June 24 '06

A short Esperanzial update edit

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Esperanza listing edit

Sad to hear you're leaving, but if you decide to come back, you may want to know I've moved your entry on the Esperanza members' list to inactive.

Hope you do decide to stick around!
