Some gadgets you might find helpful

Hi, let me add my own welcome.

Looking at your sandbox, I wanted to point out a Wikipedia gadget you might find helpful. You can enable gadgets by going into your preferenecs, in the "gadgets" tab, and ticking the appropriate box, if you haven't already done so.

refToolBar adds a drop-down button labeled "templates" that brings up a dialog for adding a citation reference. The thing i particularly like about this tool is that, if you have a URL, you can put that URL in the "url" box and hit the little magnifying glass icon. The dialog will examine the referenced web page, and fill in many other fields in the box. Then when you hit "insert", that goes in. You still often need to do a little manual adjustment -- it's not perfect -- but a lot of the work gets done for you. Even if you don't want to actually include the URL in the final cite (for example, if you're using a paper book, and there's no site that includes the text you're relying on), it's still a time-saver to start with a URL like Google Books or Worldcat, auto-fill the dialog, and then remove the URL once autofill is done.

There are others you might want to explore, but seeing as you're already using the citation templates (good for you!), I thought I'd point this one out. Happy editing! TJRC (talk) 19:04, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
