Bot approvals process

edit

Just in case any of you haven't seen the new bot request to track the bot approvals process, this is just a reminder to use the correct templates at {{BAG Admin Tools}} so the bot can correctly identify the stage of bot approval. Also, the approved requests section has been moved to a separate page at Wikipedia:Bots/Approved bot requests for the Bureaucrats to watchlist. When approving a request, make sure you remove it from the main page and place it on that page so that a bureaucrat can flag it. Thanks. MetsBot 16:46, 17 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

WP:UW future?

edit

Hi Lightdarkness,

Sorry for the blatant spam, but you have yourself down as interested at WikiProject user warnings WP:UW. There is a discussion on going here that might be of interest to you about the future of this project. There are two strawpolls on the talk pages and the second one is about the future of the WP:UW project. Now we have the end in sight we are looking at wrapping up the project and merging it with Template messages/User talk namespace WP:UTM and creating a one stop shop for all userspace templates. As you have yourself down as interested in this project we thought you may have some input on this issue, and would like you to visit the discussion and give any thoughts you may have on the matter. LDBot

edit

I noticed that LDBot is the one which creates new AfD logs each day. I thought of a feature you may wish to add to your bot, which shouldn't be too hard to get approved at WP:RFBOT. Each day a new category must be created for Category:Images_with_unknown_copyright_status and Category:Images_with_unknown_source. This is generally done manually when an editor notices that no new category has been created yet. This seems like something that your bot could easily do alongside creating the new AfD day pages. Just an idea, let me know what you think. --NickContact/Contribs 00:12, 4 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

LDBot creating pages from....where?

Where is LDBot pulling the source for the next AFD page from? It doesn't appear to be importing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/current, because these edits occurred hours before this page creation. Please advise. -- nae'blis 15:07, 11 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your edit to Article for deletion

edit

Your edit to the page inserted the goatse link on the link to add articles for deletion. This is your edit to the page and the link was still functional in the edit prior to yours. I'm pretty sure that this wasnt intentional, or an administrator deleted the edit that caused this, but I hope we can stop this from happening again. Corpx 18:00, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

I just realized that somebody edited this on the subpage and thats why it didnt show up in the edit log. My sincere apologies. Corpx 18:04, 12 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for uploading Image:Ffrscreenshot.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. Fair use rationale for Image:Wendy_Wu_Poster.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Wendy_Wu_Poster.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. BigrTex 19:17, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ingo Molnár

edit

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Ingo Molnár, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. mms 16:37, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Csd3-12-07.PNG

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Csd3-12-07.PNG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:58, 25 September 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. Incubating: Futuristic Sex Robotz

edit

Greetings! You are receiving this note because you voted to Keep in the FSR AfD in 2006. Since then, the bands notability has increased, in my opinion. I've created a new page in the Article Incubator at: Wikipedia:Article_Incubator/Futuristic_Sex_Robotz. Please feel free to join us in enhancing the article to meet wikipedia inclusion requirements. WP:ARV

edit

Would you mind if I redirected the WP:ARV shortcut to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism instead? The reason is Twinkle uses the ARV acronym, and I bet a lot of people (myself included) often try to go to WP:ARV instead of WP:AIV as they intend. ARV even seems logical, standing for "Administrator response to vandalism" or something similar. –CWenger (^@) 22:19, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity

edit

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in over one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts.

Request for Interview Regarding Wikipedia Bots

edit

Greetings Lightdarkness-

My name is Randall Livingstone, and I am a graduate student at the University of Oregon, currently collecting data for my dissertation on Wikipedia editors who create and use bots and assisted editing tools, as well as editors involved in the initial and/or ongoing creation of bot policies on Wikipedia. As a member of BAG and the bot community, I would very much like to interview you for the project at a time and in a method that is most convenient for you (Gchat, another IM client, Skype, email, telephone, etc.). I am completely flexible and can work with your schedule. The interview will take approximately 30-45 minutes.

My dissertation project has been approved both by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the University of Oregon, and by the Research Committee at the Wikimedia Foundation. You can find more information on the project on my meta page.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to hearing from you to set up a time to chat. Thank you very much.

Why was my page deleted?

edit

Hi,

My name is Tony Morales www.tonymorales.com. I know this is several years later but I just read the reason for the deletion of my page on Wikipedia.

"02:22, 21 December 2006 Lightdarkness (talk | contribs) deleted page Tony Morales (content was: '{{db-bio}} Film & television composer, who did uncredited composing on several episode of season six of the populat TV series, "Buffy the Vampire Slay...')"

I'm pretty sure that this was a mistake as my bio on my web site does not mention "Buffy the Vampire Slay...'"

What do I have to do to get the page back?

Thanks,

Tony

That's what was in the article. (This is Peridon, by the way. Lightdarkness hasn't been around since November 2010 and isn't an admin any more so far as I know.) We don't do that thing of quoting the content in the deletion reason now - for reasons that should be fairly obvious (and should have been then as well...). The missing bit is 'er", and well as two Charlie Brown specials.' followed by a link to your website. The editor who created it is also no longer around. There's no point in restoring it, as nowadays articles have to meet new requirements - which that doesn't. Please see WP:BIO and WP:RS (reliable independent sources - not own sites for example). I'd advise reading WP:COI and WP:AUTOBIO too if you're thinking about a new article. There was an earlier article of the same title about a drummer who went to work in CGI stuff - don't know if that's you or someone else. There's more in that, but nothing that would pass BIO. You can reply here or at my talk page. (It was lucky that you put the whole deletion template in or no-one would have seen this...) Peridon (talk) 17:35, 1 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Lightdarkness is still an admin but on the 'inactive' list. Peridon (talk) 17:39, 1 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Notice of change

edit

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that if you are inactive for a continuous three year period, you will be unable to request return of the administrative user right. This includes inactive time prior to your desysopping if you were desysopped for inactivity and inactive time prior to the change in policy. Inactivity is defined as the absence of edits or logged actions. Until such time as you have been inactive for three years, you may request return of the tools at the bureaucrats' noticeboard. After you have been inactive for three years, you may seek return of the tools only through WP:RFA. Thank you. MBisanz talk 00:20, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
