October 2009 North American storm complex

The storm did not hit California for five days, it hit for only two as it moved through the country. If you check the last source listed in the article, it states that the system in question was affecting Minnesota by October 14. I didn't remember to source it at the time so I don't know if I can find it again but the low pressure system was absorbed by another before it reached the east coast, so that would make what hit the east coast another storm, thus not being mentioned in the article. Additionally, these systems rarely last more than two weeks, a month is well out of the question. Cyclonebiskit (talk) 23:59, 29 November 2009 (UTC)

Your edits

Hey, I reverted your edits. First, when it says "Part of the...", it's supposed to link only to the season article. It doesn't do any good linking to the storm section. Also, there's no need to say "Tropical Depression Eleven-E... was also the eleventh tropical depression of the 2010 Pacific hurricane season". It already says TD 11, so it's just redundant. However, I find it great that you're interested in tropical cyclones.

Have you considered joining Wikipedia and becoming an editor? We have a group of editors who work toward improving all tropical cyclone articles, and you do clearly have some skills. I completely understand your frustration but the information you're adding is not verifiable. The most official source for tropical cyclone articles in the Eastern Pacific and Atlantic, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, does not back up your claim. The National Hurricane Center gives no indication of Georgette having any effects in the southwestern United States in their Tropical Cyclone Report. Recent information released by the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center follows this. The rainfall graphic produced by the center has no mention of any rain in the United States.

In regards to Hurricane Tomas, I don't doubt the accuracy of what you're adding, as I saw what you described as well, but it needs to be sourced. As a rule of thumb, always add <ref>url address</ref> at the end of any new information you put into an article. It allows other people to verify the information you added in the article. Also, another concern was brought about one of the sites you are claiming to be citing from. It's been determined that 10Spider Weather is not a reliable source and cannot be used to cite information on Wikipedia.

Lastly, my intent was not to accuse you of any vandalism, I don't see your edits as being such in any way. However, they tend unintentionally unverifiable and at times original research. I'm quite happy that there's another person who wants to expand upon the quality of tropical cyclone articles and I wish you'll stay on the site but with anything, there are some rules behind it.

Tropical cyclone designations

I'm just asking a question: what basin uses the identifier "S"? (For example, 03S) Please inform me on my talk page as soon as possible, so that I can understand, and so that I might stop creating those "edits."

The identifier S along with the identifier P are assigned by the JTWC to the "Southern Hemisphere" basin. Allthough it should be noted that the JTWC do not monitor all systems monitored by the warning centers of the SHEM- The systems in question were deleted because they were not assigned either the U or the F identifier and are therefore not official, though one of the systems in question were plonked into the SWIO Basin as it was designated as TD 2 by Reunion.Jason Rees (talk) 01:57, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Just to clarify, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, a branch of the US Navy, designates all Southern Hemisphere tropical cyclones that form west of 135°E with a "S". They designate all Southern Hemisphere tropical cyclones that form east of 135°E with an "P". While there are different "letters", the numbers are used in the same order, Ex. After TC 03S can come TC 04P. After that can come TC 05S (05 is the number of the storm, S is the designator). Hope this helps! — Iune(talk) 03:50, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Re: Post-Tropical Cyclones

Well, if Post-Tropical Cyclones are actually extratropical, then why does the NHC state that they have a chance to redevelop? (For instance: Hurricane Eugene (2011), and Tropical Storm Emily (2011).)

To be honest I don't know the reasoning behind it, but I do know that Gert is still considered to be a Post-Tropical Cyclone by the OPC, and not extratropical.Jason Rees (talk) 01:40, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Removal of talk page warnings

Just as a fyi for this edit - users are allowed to remove warnings from their talk page par WP:R Van, section 5. Any editor may remove warnings from their talk page (This does not go for block templates), though clearing the warnings is just taken as an indication that the user read and accepted them. Well, another user kept attacking me (about 5 months ago; he kept reverting my good faith edits, and made excuses by calling me a vandalist), and naturally I assumed that you couldn't remove warnings (since he always readded the warnings, and told me that I could not remove them). Heads up

Hi, if you did not know, the National Hurricane Center releases Tropical Cyclone Reports on each individual storm that formed at the end of each hurricane season. In this case, they upped Bret's maximum sustained winds from 55 knots (65 mph) to 60 knots (70 mph). Recreating Mediterranean tropical cyclone

SWIO tracks

I have corrected Koji-Joni (had forgotten about the problems of filing storms which cross basin boundaries). I shall have to to try to get the TD12 points off Bruvtakesover - it's not clear to me where he got them from and they make a very erratic track.--Keith Edkins ( Talk ) 18:11, 20 March 2012 (UTC)

I just get sick of it whenever they cause a lot of trouble (even if it is only one edit), or if they persistently continue to vandalize.
