Description vs. analysis edit

When describing a painting, please do not analyze it or interpret meanings, and keep adjectives to the simplest and most straight-forward. This is because a straight-forward description of the work is supported by the work itself, as long as the description is what any reasonable person looking at the painting would see. Any analysis or interpretation, on the other hand, needs to be supported with a citation from a reliable source, an unsupported analytical statement (i.e. "the artist's intention here is so-and-so", or "the subject is feeling such-and-such") is original research and is not allowed. "Light comes through the clouds" is good, "Golden light comes through the clouds" is ok, "Brillant and beautiful golden light comes through the clouds" is not allowed.

Also, there's no need to display the paintings at extreme size. Display them large enough so that they can easily be viewed -- anyone who wants to look more closely can click on the picture and see the full-size image. Thanks, Beyond My Ken (talk) 02:15, 24 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification edit

Hi. When you recently edited Willem Isaacsz Swanenburg, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Judgment of Paris (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Bouguereau Image change edit

Hi, I noticed that you edited William-Adolphe Bouguereau by changing The Birth of Venus image. I undid that change because I prefer the original image, but if you disagree I would be very interested in the reason. Maybe there is something I oan learn about the painting. I would love to hear from you if you believe the image should be changed. Thanks, max Maxshimasu (talk) 06:34, 16 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your reply Lieutenant Waaxe. It's nice to know you like that version of the image. Such an amazing painting. Best, max Maxshimasu (talk) 06:43, 18 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Picture on Female body shape edit

I'm not sure how that previous image looks to you, but when I saw it on my Mac and iPad the girl's face had strong red blotches. That is what I meant by "corrupted". I don't believe that was in the original. Enthusiast (talk) 06:23, 10 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
