Please do not add commercial links (or links to your own private websites) to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. See the welcome page to learn more. Thanks. --Nlu (talk) 04:16, 8 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

That is hypocrtical because each of those links are links to other people's personal websites and groups. The page suggested for mulatto's give mulatto's a resource to not only convene but also learn genuine perspectives. If I am not allowed to post a website that is more than resourceful yet, someone from the "High Toned" Club who does not even have PUBLIC access to his/her (Personal Site) then clearly there is an issue here and quite ironically a sense of biasm. You can not give me a good reason why X-Plicitely Mixed's Mulatto website can be there but opinionated forums (many of which aren't even accessible) are allowed too. If you continue and support Creoleme's constant editing of the link to X-Plicitely Mixed's Mulatto site, I will bring up a dispute and personally contact Wikipedia myself (Call them, etc, the whole 9 yards). X-Plicitely Mixed's Mulatto site is not commercial, do you see any products sold? Clearly not, nor is it anyone's personal website, yet you will allow someone to state their name on the link directing to a mulatto website? I have no problem letting Creoleme post his biased board (as it would seem) but each time he delete's one of the most resourceful mulatto websites then I delete his. Sure we can both have our links there but he is not being fair, I am willing to however. Not fair, and again if this persists I will file a dispute, or you can; either way I have the history saved. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Liberalpunt (talkcontribs)

See my response at User talk:Nlu. In any case, "someone else did it too!" is not an excuse. --Nlu (talk) 14:33, 8 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Protection of Mulatto edit

I've protected the article because of the edit war between you and CreoleMe (talk · contribs). Please try to talk over your differences on Talk:Mulatto. I've also filed a RFC to try to get some neutral editors involved. --Nlu (talk) 05:22, 9 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hapa edit

Thanks for experimenting with Wikipedia. The links you added to the page Hapa have been removed. Please do not add commercial links—or links to your own private websites—to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links. See the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks. --Alan Au 04:39, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Adding unrelated external links to articles is considered vandalism. If you continue to use Wikipedia for advertising, you will be blocked from editing. --Alan Au 02:12, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Please stop link spamming Hapa. Thank you. --JereKrischel 05:31, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

What is your reason for removing the Hapa link to X-Plicitley Mixed? How is it that I am not allowed to post a link that X-Plicitley Mixed dedicates exclusively to Hapa's yet Mixed Folks is allowed to be on there as is Swirl that doesn't even have Hapa's on their front page or with resources with some degree of extent? Please clarrify as I see biasm at this moment, but retain my judgement for the benefit of the doubt. --Liberalpunt

As Alan pointed out, Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor a catalogue of other sites. If you wish to add content, please do so, but trying to promote your own website by adding a link on every page that mentions mixed races is not appropriate.
Frankly, I'd be all for removing the Swirl link (seems explicitly non-commercial though). Same thing with Mixed Folks. Are you in competition with them? If this is a matter of treating commercial ventures equally (be it by offering products, or generating traffic in order to build advertising revenues), I'm more than happy to remove the other links you've mentioned.
Please, if you'd like to contribute content, please do. But your current linkspamming is just not appropriate. --JereKrischel 05:44, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

X-Plicitely Mixed's Hapa site is not commercial, do you see any products sold? Clearly not, nor is it anyone's personal website, rather a professional one meant to attend a Multiracial and in that case, Hapa/Eurasian audience. --Liberalpunt

The fact that you don't have any products sold is not the sole indicator that it is commercial. As you point out, it is a "professional" site, and as such, seems to indicate a revenue stream at the end of the road. If you'd like to make it clear that this website is a non-profit, educational, or has no commercial (i.e., "professional") basis, I invite you to do so. As it stands, it seems that you are starting an online magazine, and looking for traffic, seeding Wikipedia with links in order to drive that traffic. Would you care to share with us the business plan behind your website, and allay our fears that it is a commercial venture? --JereKrischel 05:50, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey Jere!

I just got your response! Wow quick timing and absolutely appreciative, thank you. I supposed we can exchange, almost like a chat session. Well to begin friend, I am not an owner or affiliated with X-Plicitly Mixed on a high level. I just post at their boards, read their news, listen on the latest event's etc. And as a matter of fact love it and see them as a very healthy place for ALL multiracial's. That's the reason I am trying to get the word out. You see Jere, multiracial's have many issues and if I can just dedicate a little bit of my time by getting the word out to a very professional, neat, and legitable website like XP then hey that makes a difference for the better. Again it's not my site and don't know why you assumed that immediately, just a fan of theirs. Just check out their site friend, you'll see they adhere to the largest multiracial groups, at least in America. What do you think? :)

Thanks again Jere! --Liberalpunt

Thank you for the clarification of your association with them. I might humbly suggest that Wikipedia is not a place to "get the word out". There are many other options for you, including blogging, which will allow you to share your passion for that website to a large audience. I did check out the site, and it looks like there are still large portions of it unavailable, although it may be because I'm using firefox. Nonetheless, please do not be offended by the response you have gotten so far on wikipedia - it is not meant to denigrate your point of view, or censor your enthusiasm for this website. However, it really isn't an appropriate venu.
I hope that your passion will inspire you to contribute content to Wikipedia, even if it isn't a place for you to "spread the word". Mahalo and thank you for your conversation. --JereKrischel 05:53, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
  • Hi there Liberalpunt; thanks for leaving a note on my talk page. I apologize for singling you out, but I tend to check the contribution histories of people who have been adding links to multiple pages. This is because we've had a problem in the past with professional advertisers hitting multiple pages (including the Hapa page) at once. It sounds like you're not intentionally trying to use Wikipedia for personal gain. Even so, I don't think Wikipedia is the best place for promoting the explicitlymixed site. We hope you will continue to contribute to the Wikipedia project, and the WP:SPAM#How_not_to_be_a_spammer page has some useful tips on how to avoid inadvertently setting off the spam detectors. Also, you're quite correct that several of the other links also point to personal sites; we're trying to clean them up as quickly as we can, but it's a lot of work! Thanks for your understanding, and happy editing! --Alan Au 06:23, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am not using Wikipedia to get the word out to anyone just to provide resources to websites that pertain to the topic. In that case it was hapa. I also don't see why a blasian board on XP cant be listed under the blasian definition. As in why did you delete it? It's a discussion group and was listed there for some time. --Liberalpunt

Wikipedia is not a place to provide lists of resources that pertain to topics. As Alan pointed out, Wikipedia is not a collection of links. I deleted the link in question because it is a slippery slope, and I hope you understand that. Today, you have a favorite "blasian" board you want to promote. Tomorrow, 500 other people install Phorum on their websites, and decide to create dedicated forum boards for blasians. They all decide to list their sites on Wikipedia - pretty soon, we have nothing but a bunch of external links. If I had seen it the day it was posted, I would have removed it as well, so the length of time it was up there had nothing to do with my deletion.
Thank you again for understanding, and I look forward to your continued contributions to Wikipedia! --JereKrischel 06:36, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
