Potential conflict of interest

Hello, Lhugle. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

• Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
• Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.

Yes, of course and I am sorry if I sounded brisk, but the two of you really need to calm down and stop devulging so much off Wiki information. The other editor has even brought up situations and events they have admitted have no record but still mentions the name of a figure in association with that and that is a BLP No No, even on the talkpage. Try to work this out off wiki if possible before editing the page. No offense but both of you have already been warned of the Conflict of Interest and while that alone won't keep you from editing if the edits become problematic you may both be blocked by admin!--Amadscientist (talk) 02:33, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

anything posted in the article, in summaries, in talk pages, on user pages, on project pages such as the dispute resolution notice board is "public" - essentially anything on wiki. "private" would be emails or other off wiki contact. -- The Red Pen of Doom 12:36, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. Although I like seeing FH honored in Wikipedia, I don't see how to achieve neutrality at this point. Discussions about content have not followed Wikipedia rules and editing is riddled with conflict. There appears to be no way to correct errors or for the page to evolve. If there is another alternative, I would welcome that -- perhaps a stub for now. If not, I am not certain this meets the criteria for deletion but I do make that request. Perhaps some day someone without the apparent conflicts of interest will revise the page in a manner consistent with Wikipedia standards. Lhugle (talk) 14:33, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

A wikipedia article is not an "honor". Wikipedia is an encyclopedia representing and compiling information about people places and events that other reliable sources have found worthy of their time in discussing and commenting about. -- The Red Pen of Doom 15:25, 5 October 2012 (UTC)
