Start of a new archive i guess. I have a question of placement and editing. The answer is probably simple but here goes. I was just over checking the Newfoundland project page Wikipedia:WikiProject Newfoundland and Labrador and noticed someone had put in a Category for Category:Lakes of Newfoundland and Labrador NOW the quandry: I have, in my own personally written article Ernest Harmon Air Force Base a good sized section on a Newfy lake called Long Gull Pond near Stephenville. If I wanted to create an article for the NFLD Lakes Category, would I delete the entire entry in my Harmon article and put a link to the new Gull Pond article OR leave the complete original and make a duplicate but edited version with photographs on its own new article page? I know it's not necessary to have duplicate information but it is suitable for both? Is the answer too simple I can't see it?? WayneRay 03:31, 5 July 2006 (UTC)WayneRay

A new article SS Florizel of Newfoundland and Labrador context has been created and we invite you to contribute to the article to firstly get it up to DYK status and hopefully to feature article status. The Queen Mother and the Order of Canada

Hi, First let me appologise for any crazy spelling in this message. I am in Quebec and working on a french keyboard. Anyway, I notice you removed the àrguably not a non Canadian text after Elizabeth Bowes-Lyons name on the Order of Canada page. If you look on the discussion on the page the subject of The Queen Mother as a Canadian has been discussed at some length. The fact that she was de facto Queen of Canada, when you think about it, should carry some weight. Remember in 1947 the British Empire essentially collapsed and the crown was divided equally between the commonwealth, therefore from 1947 until 1952 she was Queen of Canada regardless of being Queen of England. It is, I admit a tricky question, and it brings up angry sentiment from those who dislike the monarchy in Canada (I personally have no problem with it, and rather admire the current Queen..so I guess im a monarchist). Lebanese

That i strue, but it is a minor problem since the vast majority of injured are Lebanese citizens. There is a foreign subsection for elaboration in the casualties section below in the article. Tewfik^Talk 22:19, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Its hardly a problem of truth: the full casualty count for every other nationality is listed in its appropriate section, but we can't include all 4-5 nationalities in the conflict box as it would be too cluttered, disorganised, and generally unehlpful. Tewfik^Talk 22:25, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

The problem is that there is no number. The only numbers we have include both civilians and Hezbollah combatants. Your Reverets deleting my contribution in Brampton, Ontario

You made a revert deleting my contribution in Brampton concerning the questionable future of Peel Region.

The crux of the piece is that Peel's future is in jeopardy. The reason it is sin jeopardy is that Mississauga took a vote in favour of becommeing a Single Tier Municipality and the vote came ouot unanymous. As a result Brampton and Peel are fighting for the life of Peel Region remaining as a government. The council did not express an opinion as you would have believe. It made a decision. Everything that follows that decision is POV and you and I seem to have different opinions. So lets stick to the fact and not push either way. "National" football teams

Actually, these teams act like national football teams. They may not be recognized nations, but that doesn't mean they should not be called that, if they consider themselves that. They compete against other nations (or in some cases, against other unrecognized nations). They don't play as provinces or states or whatnot. I notice that you created a redirect for "New Caledonia football team" to "New Caledonia national football team", and moved "Tahiti national football team" to "Tahiti football team". You may note that both of these entities belong to FIFA, and within France, the country they belong to, they have similar status. Although "Tahiti" is officially "French Polynesia". One cannot be "national" while the other is not. Actually, I'm going to revert your changes removing the "national" from all the articles you have. As noted above, they play as nations (and, actually, by the definition I assume you're using, England (and the other British "home nations") is also not a "real" nation, so we'll have to remove "nation" from that article, as England is part of the independent nation of the United Kingdom). _└ ^OzLawyer / _talk ^┐ 17:31, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

They act like but they are NOT national team because they ARE NOT nations. So, they shouldn't be called national teams because they are more regional teams. But Wikipedia isn't considering what is and isn't a nation. It's simply presenting what purports to be a national team as a national team. Honestly, England is not a nation, if by nation you mean an internationally recognized country that is usually a member of the United Nations. But nobody would try to move "England national football team" to "England football team", now would they? If Greenland, which is not an internationally recognized country but a posession of Denmark, plays against other nations, and calls their team the national team of Greenland, then that is how we present them on Wikipedia. By calling them "national teams", wikipedia (or in fact serveral nationalists) are deciding who have the right to be or not to be nations. I am sorry but calling them national teams IS POV. They are playing WITH national teams and not AS national teams but AS regional teams which is a big difference. I can assure you that French people will agree with me. I don't see why North Americans would impose us their notion of nation. Here, I am. I can provide you with a good link showing that they don't call themselves équipe nationale. It's right here. If you can read French, you will see that the league (regional federation if you prefer, subordinated to the French federation) is calling the team équipe de Guadeloupe and not équipe nationale de Guadeloupe. There are several points :

• First you care about whether something is or is not a nation, but ignore the fact that there are several teams in FIFA which are not nations being called nations : lol. So, Martinique and Guadeloupe are nations while Scotland and Wales are not ? Let's be serious ...

You missed my point. I am saying that for New Caledonia, some New Caledonians could consider it as their national team (because they consider themselves and so I don't want to impose my point of view for this one. As for Polynesia, we can let it with national if you prefer, because I guess we could debate a very longtime on this one with good points on every side.

Finally, I am sorry to say that, but I think that you (and people in general) should only edit articles on topic they know a little bit. Have you been to these islands ? I don't know what else we could do. Do you want to be in a constant edit war? As for your question about Guadeloupe and Martinique being nations byt not England and Wales, I never said that I would want the French ones over the British ones. In fact, I do not consider that Guadeloupe or Martinique are nations. Since they're integral parts of France, in the same way that England and Wales are integral parts of the United Kingdom, they are not nations I (actually, let's use "countries", since it's a better term). New Caledonia, French Polynesia and Wallis and Futuna, however, are a different matter. As non-integral parts of France, and in a sense, more "foreign possessions", they have somewhat more of a right for self-determination, and more of an identity outside of France. In the British sphere, Bermuda and Gibraltar would fit the bill. In Denmark, the Faroes and Greenland. Non-integral parts of nations, which should be decolonized are what you could consider "countries". _└ ^OzLawyer / _talk ^┐ 18:41, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

I accepted it because I thought we could really be in an edit war if we both stand on our point of views (I am creating the request and you can answer after that). I personally don't make any difference between Martinique and Guadeloupe and the others. They are close or far but they all have the right to self-determination and independence if they want to. In my opinion, all these territories are former colonies which decide to stay integral parts of France (which is a little bit different from "foreign possessions"). They mostly (with exceptions in New Caledonia and a little bit in Polynesia) consider themselves as French (and let's be realistic they are economically interested in staying French). What is a little bit sad is to see that every time there is a discussion about a French overseas territories, it comes to the point that this is a nation which should be free. While this is a nice picture (perhaps due to the fact that most contributors come from countries which didn't have any colonies or where colonized themselves : USA, Canada, India), it's far to be the truth. Just ask people from Mayotte how happy they are to choose to stay French instead of voting for independence as the other island from Comores. Anyway, this a topic we could discuss for hours. What is really bothering me is this tendency from Wikipedia to re-write history and facts this way (and more generally the American way) ? This is very sad and one of the reasons why I chose to contribute mostly to the French wikipedia instead of trying to create a wonderful wikipedia in English and then translate it in other languages (To be fair, we have the same problem in the French wikipedia, where Belgians, Swiss and etc find that the French POV is presented too often as the reference ;-) ). I dont know how regularly I went, but no, I didnt live in Bramalea. Probably still went to BCC more often, since Shoppers World was pretty grungy back then. id=toc table suppression

I just tried editing the article again, and lo and behold, it works now. Perhaps someone was toying with the stylesheet info for "toc", or maybe one of the other cleanup bits I did to the article did the trick (but deleting "id=toc" actually made the table appear during the edit). Western Isles logo

I'm new to Wikipedia editing, so I hope this is the right way to go about contacting you. Sorry if it isn't. I notice you've put the Western Isles flag on a wikipedia page, which looks good, but that you've also put a tag on saying it's the logo of the Western Isles Council as well. In fact the logo is one of the ships from the flag inside a circle, as you'll see in the top left corner of the Comhairle nan Eilean Siar (Western Isles Council) website - http://www.cne-siar.gov.uk/

Would it be possible for you to add the logo to the "Western Isles" wiki page as well?

I noticed that you updated several of the minor planet pages with your new TNO comparison image. You might also consider replacing the comparison image at the Trans-Neptunian object page. Hello there. I noticed that you edited the Michael Menkin article in such a way that the deletion notice was removed [2]. Now, judging from your comment on the AfD, I am led to believe that you are not exactly "sympathetic" to the article itself, so I shall assume good faith and that your edit was merely a mistake, and not deliberate vandalism (I love zeugma). I reverted the article to undo your edits, so that the deletion notice reappeared, since I am not sure how "mechanical" the code is, and whether merely copy-and-pasting it will still work. Council candidate John Sanderson's campaign manager has confirmed he (as in the manager) did. Raj Sharda

The official website (if it is) of Raj Sharda that was just added says he was a past councillor, but the election results for Oakville at [3] say otherwise. I suppose we can't remove a link to an official website simply because it contains lies, can we? Raj's full name is "Rajneesh Kumar Sharda", from my research. That's quite weird though that the Oakville website doesn't mention him. According to The Public Appointments Secretariat, he did hold those positions, so it's a widespread lie. I've explained to him by email that he needs to source his statements. He will be doing an interview with Wikinews "by the end of the week", so he claims. Frankly I don't know what to think. -- Zanimum 19:31, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi. You deleted the logos on Sports teams in the Halifax Regional Municipality, and I understand why. But how come other pages with the same info for other city's sports teams have their logos on it? Please answer back on my talk as yours is quite crowded. Thanks.
