Wiki Loves Pride

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride, a global campaign to create and improve LGBT-related content at Wikipedia during the month of June, culminating with a multinational edit-a-thon on June 21. The project is being spearheaded by two organizers with roots in the Pacific Northwest. Meetups are being organized in some cities, or you can participate remotely. Wikimedia Commons will also be hosting an LGBT-related photo challenge.

In Portland, there are two ways to contribute. One is a photography campaign called "Pride PDX", for pictures related to LGBT culture and history. The Wiki Loves Pride edit-a-thon will be held on Saturday, June 21 from noon–4pm at Smith Memorial Student Union, Room 236 at Portland State University. You do know what was reused across numerous years to avoid having to create a new template every year and having to list then all on a drivers page? Thank you for the prompt reply, it now makes more sense, thanks for trying to improve IndyCar! There's one issue, you might have to contact an admin or post on the admin noticeboard to get the pages switched, as IndyCar Series has lost all it's edit history dating back to 2007, and that's needed to trace where edits have came from. Abuse of Color

I know it looks "cool" to have all that colour all over the the race numbers. But what is the reason for it? It demonstrates what the car looks like? How is that relevant to a table detailing qualifying results? It is a poor example of statistics creep. More importantly it runs specifically against wikipedias policies regarding overuse of colour. I advise you to read about it here at WP:COLOR. It a nutshell, those with vision impairments - specifically the colourblind - find tremendous difficulty reading text displayed in such a manner. Regarding the issue of livery colors int he qualifying tables in the IndyCar series race articles, I have indeed read the WP on Color and this was and is not "abuse". And to answer the salient point/question yes, the livery colors are there to convey the color of cars in a race in the quaffing tables (but not on the race results table). Again I have read the Colors WP and this is not violation of it since it does in fact convey useful information and does not prevent color blind people from reading the numbers, particularly sine the car/driver numbers are repeated int he race results table. So I will be doing re-adding the colors again because your opinion is not the arbiter of the applicability of livery colors (which have been used in many previous articles on races). Then apparently you've missed the point. You don't do it, at all. Repeating the numbers elsewhere in the article doesn't mean a thing. And liviery of cars is not useful information. How does the colour of the cars affect the outcome of the race?

I didn't "miss the point" I simply disagree with your claims that this is A) settled by any group discussion. B) or abuse of color per WP (it isn't). and C) "simply don't do it" dictate.
As to why livery color is useful information, because myself and others have actually used the Wikipedia article (where the entrant/qualifying table exists with livery colors) as a spotters guide while watching live streaming of the race.
As to why there was no race description, that is because I have not (as yet) put the effort into somehow re-creating the description after the fact (as I am the only one to date to even make the article for that race which was a redirect to the 2015 Season article). If/when I have the time to go back and effectively recreate the race description from both the official results/event summary and any relevant sports article reportage. I must say I am finding tremendous difficulty in retrieving the discussion. I know it took place in around 2010 or 2009. It was referred to in 2012 but not specifically. I'm fully aware you don't have to accept any discussion purely on my word and it's frustrating as hell trying to find it. Gotcha. No worries, I can say I certainly became defensive in that I have been the only one even bothering to maintain (basically create) any of the race articles for this year's season (other than the Indy 500 article) which included the livery colors in the starting grid table. So spending several days going back and putting in other race articles to have it then devolve into an edit war over livery colors just rubbed me the wrong way. I apologize. Timestamps in the above discussion on the matter run until 7 June, the day after the race. The article in question was twice [1][2] edited regarding the colors on 6 June, on the day of the race. Therefore my comment was not that misplaced. But that was not my point. My point was that both of you made the effort of edit warring on 8 different articles over a couple of days, but later failed to make the much more useful effort of updating the lead. The Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education, in partnership with social practice artist Shoshana Gugenheim and as part of the Art+Feminism Project, will host the 2nd Annual International Women's Day Wikipedia Edit-a-thon to edit and/or create Wikipedia articles for Jewish women artists. The event will be held at the museum on Thursday, March 7 from 4 to 8 pm. Pre-registration is preferred but not required. Members of the public are invited to come to the museum to learn about the editing process, its history, its impact, and how to do it. We aim to collaboratively edit/enter 18 Jewish women artists into the canon. Support will be provided by an experienced local Wikipedian who will be on site to teach and guide the process. This edit-a-thon will serve as both a public art action and a public educational program. Participants will have an opportunity to select an artist/s ahead of time or on site.

Concerning a template which you originally created

Template:Election box US candidate with swing (and Template:Election box US candidate with party link) is, where required, used for write-ins or partial candidatures (such as when an independent runs without a running mate). This causes some quirky results in articles, such as at this one. I am foremost not so sure that the state information is particularly important (since removing it would solve the issue); but more importantly I ask if it would be too much trouble to check for whether the listed party name is "write-in" and make a special case (something of a similar vein to what I did at the mentioned article). If possible, this would be much simpler than having to fix this manually or via bot. If not possible or if you are not involved with this anymore, please advise where you believe the appropriate place to discuss this would be. You are invited! An Art+Feminism Wikipedia edit-a-thon will be held in Portland, Oregon, on March 12, 2022. Learn more here!

Wikipedia is one of the most-visited sites on the internet—and it’s created by people who volunteer their time to write and edit pages. Learn how to edit Wikipedia and be a part of shaping our understanding of our world. In this workshop, volunteer Wikipedia editors will be on hand to train participants on how to get started editing pages and offer ideas for which pages you can pitch in to help improve. Show up at any point during the four hours to get started!

Also: Free burritos!! We will be providing vegan, vegetarian, and meat burritos from food cart Loncheria Las Mayos. Alder Commons has a large, fenced playground. Children are welcome! Some computers will be available to borrow, but if you have a laptop, please bring it to use. We will also be leading an online training for new editors at 11am-12pm PST. Please feel free to join that training if you are not able to show up IRL.
