Lake Buhi

Great article on Lake Buhi! Hope that you could make an infobox based on your knowledge about the lake, you could check out other articles on lakes of the Philippines (ex. Laguna de Bay) what this infobox is. Cheers! Meynardtengco 11:55, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

regarding your reply: thesis is hell (and you'd only be able to try out the lake infoboxes after "fixing your acads"), yeah i agree, i'm also busy with my thesis in the closing weeks of this semester, and my graduation might be delayed, good luck then! Meynardtengco 14:04, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Sure thing, I'll look the article over and see what I can do over the next few days. :) Yup, MSI has field work, although depending on your inclination, there are courses that have a lot of lab work as well. Check out the MSI website if your interested, I actually created their article on Wikipedia (although not finished with it yet, it's still a stub :) ). Shrumster 15:07, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I just read about the 3000+ new species found in Panglao. I want to add it to the article but I don't know where to stick it in. I'll try to put a biodiversity section there.

Bohol Marine Triangle

Lenticel, thank you. I will place it in my wishlist. BTW, what is your thesis on? Had we talked prior, I would have asked you to work on the Philippine tarsier and helped direct you to the proper agencies and authorities on it! It would have been a good experience for you, as well as beneficial too for the Philippine Tarsier Foundation which would be very very supportive of you! Let me know how I can be of help to you, too. I have very good and strong research background. I can be a silent or "ghost adviser" to you, too. LoL...But I am serious! Send me an email thru wikipedia email...--Ate Pinay (talkemail) 07:43, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Thesis

O, okey. BTW, I did not mean to reduce your research experience at all. Just offered a "third research eye", since I also did some thesis advising before, while I did some research projects too. The USAID-DOH Project used EPI-INFO software for their epidemiology studies. Dengue would be very relevant. Malaria, too, but isn't that last more studied? I would be interested in dengue, as a member of my family suffered of it back in 1998! And believe me, it wasn't a very pleasant experience. Thankfully, his blood count stabilized and didn't really need any blood transfusion, though donors were on standby with type AB blood! More sharing later. --Ate Pinay (talkemail) 09:03, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi! I'll try to see what I can do with the tamaraw article. Right now, it's still a bit incomplete in terms of detail and coverage, but it's getting there. Shrumster 04:58, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Phew, bulked it up, I'll be taking a break for a couple of hours. :) Do we have any open-source pics for the baby? I'm thinking after we're done with the article, we can slap it into peer-review and depending on how long it is, maybe even go straight to FA. But that's thinking a bit too far ahead. Hi, i noticed that you redirected Abaniko to Belamcanda chinensis. Spider fighting

hi Lenticel,

many thanks for your article on Spider fighting. Yes, WikiProject Spiders is the place for this :) I even made an article some time ago, Fighting spider. I'm not sure if T. bhamoensis is the only species used for this; if so, the two articles should probably be merged. In case you want to create more articles about spiders (please do!), it's best to add the template {{WPSpiders}} to the Talk page of the article. This way, we can easily find it.

cheers --Sarefo 11:55, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

thx for the hint, i slightly changed the wording in the last sentence of the article. if you happen to be in the Philippines some time, and run by some of these spiders, maybe you can take some pictures? :) --Sarefo 14:52, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Identifying spiders

hi lenticel,

this article is one of Patrick Moran's pet pages. He's a bit obsessed with the venomosity of spiders as far as I'm concerned (i concentrate on the biodiversity). I know about this page, but it's highly unlikely that I'll ever touch it, because I don't see any way for it to become really useful. To identify spiders, you need a dichotomous key (I don't like these), or an interactive key[1] (I'm trying to work in this field in the future, but probably not in wikipedia, as it needs special software). However, maybe if somebody wants to really put some effort into this page, it can be a nice entry point to spider biodiversity for people that know nothing about spiders. cheers :) --Sarefo 14:42, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

I just nominated your article, Perna viridis, for DYK. If you want to check out the hook for correctness, please do and change it as you would like. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Empire of Iuz

Well, to be honest with you, I'd probably vote to merge these articles. While I think that Gavin is missing some fairly basic points (basic research before nominating/tagging), many of his AfD nominations have been reasonable. I think that this is one of them. Of course, I don't know much about Greyhawk, so I could be wrong, but my preliminary search didn't turn up much in the way of notability for these fictional places. -Chunky Rice 21:29, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

Peru Surfing

Hi, I've added a number of sources since you last commented on "Who Invented Surfing" I'd appreciate your looking at the new documents especially #4. Also, Henning has written a lot about surfing including one book about Polynesia...his reseach indicates Peru as the origin and is generally accepted in the most of "Knowledgable" surfing community. The authors and their credentials of Document 4 are a sign of this acceptance. Surfmac2004 11:18, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

I understand. It's just irritating when someone says something's not copypasted when I see that it is. That begins to stink of a less-than-scrupulous editor, and I get snippy. But he's since fixed it, so I'm satiated. I do think the article should be worked into a "history of surfing" section or article, instead of being called "who invented surfing. It's a bad title. - CobaltBlueTony 15:32, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

The Goal

Thanks for reaching out. I hope no editor felt I was picking on them personally. My goal is to improve Wikipedia, like most everybody. What I would like to see is a lot of freestanding articles merged into a few tidy articles. SolidPlaid 04:09, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

From composing my message to Cube lurker‎, I came to realize that I think there is a big difference between tagging articles as unsourced, non-notable, etc., versus tagging or nominating them for deletion. But maybe Gavin.collins has got other people thinking that his tagging of articles is a first salvo in an uncoming deletion nominating spree. Let's hope that's not the case. Siniloan River

Hi! Regarding this article, I'm afraid I've never even been there, so we're really going to have to depend on anyone else here who may have gone there before. The effort to create entries for the various tributaries of Laguna de Bay is part of my effort to familiarize myself with the geography and conservation status of the lake, for a novel I'm writing. So in a lot of ways, the reason I made the article at all is because of my unfamiliarity with it. :-S Which is saying, I wanna help get the DYK (of course!), but I'm not sure how.

Hm. Er... questions ... 1. what do you mean by hook? and 2. where do i go to learn how to create infoboxes like the one you put on siniloan?

I'd like to try to do that to the other tributaries as well. :-D Alternativity 17:46, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Hm, my first ever image is now a map that shows the rough course of the Siniloan river. :-D -- Alternativity 08:25, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for the award! Those blinking eyes are kind of freaky, though! :) I certainly appreciate that you take the same stand that I do that it's better to make sure that information is kept somehow rather than deleted outright. If you don't know about them already, you might be interested in WP:ICU and WP:ARS. Both are projects of sorts which help improve articles that are up at AfD for reasons such as needing expansion, cleanup and sourcing (which aren't really reasons for deletion in the first place, but that's another can of worms entirely) as well as needing notability to be established. I can't guaranty with this article i've started yesterday because its going to be a busy day starting today. I'm a student and classes will probably resume now. I'll try. I mean, we'll try. Please help me. I've uploaded an image and i'm not very sure with the licensing. Really hard to find free images. --βritand&βeyonce (talkcontribs) 04:30, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
It's getting fat. Cheers! By the way, that was i was thinking. The image is of public domain. Wait, im going to upload another images but i think this is non-free but it will really help expound the article. --Britand&Beyonce (talkcontribs) 08:27, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Ouch. I was supposed to upload a new non-free image. However, Ive seen an old page of Daily Inquirer where there are images of the Agoncillos. Two of which is the image of Marcela while she was in Hongkong where that image taken was requested by Gen. Aguinaldo and one is their family picture. I just cropped the image and my problem is on how to license. I know that these are all free because its an old image and its copyright protection had expired but it was only cropped in a newspaper. Does Inquirer holds the copyright or not? --Britand&Beyonce (talkcontribs) 09:39, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
It's fine. I know there's a reason why I should have to slow down. Your help and seav's are great. --Britand&Beyonce (talkcontribs) 09:47, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
I don't think it's a derivative work because it's an image and maybe PDI used it because its already a public domain image. Here's the source.--Britand&Beyonce (talkcontribs) 10:30, 5 November 2007 (UTC) November 4, 2007
Hello there, please, if you have time, fix the hook. The phrase emphasizes more on her husband. I think it's better to make the flag thing at the end with the ? after. What do you think? --βritand&βeyonce (talkcontribs) 03:31, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
I thought it was. Sorry. Thanks for fixing the hook. A user proposed for a shorter one. --βritand&βeyonce (talkcontribs) 01:49, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Napindan Channel/River vs. Pasig River

I get conflicting sources saying either that Napindan is just the upper portion of Pasig River or that Pasig River only starts where Napindan and Marikina River meet. Comment. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to believe any of the claims made by Robert Young. In a comment above made from an IP address, Young says "there's a big difference between 'rat catcher for the local council' and in charge of the world's oldest people for the entire planet". If someone who claims to be a researcher thinks that they are "in charge of the world's oldest people for the entire planet", I have to seriously question whether anything they write can be trusted. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 10:15, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Until I had read some texts in your page like this one—"This user spends too much time on Wikipedia and would like other means to devote his time to." I really thought you're a girl. Ok. I wish the library of our school is complete. I would not hesitate to go their and use a lot of books to cite especially those articles which were not referenced yet. I will try to find later but I have no assurance. Maybe online sourcing is the only way. By the way, I have to go now because I still have a class and could you please ask for a peer review, I don't know the process yet. Thank you Lent. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs)00:46, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Should we really have to find more offline sources? --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs) 02:52, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
I'll try. Hirap naman, ganito ba talaga? putol-putol ang mga pages?--βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs) 03:17, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Ahm, nakahanap ako ng kaunti, but it really helps. I'm confused, what "template" should I use? The generic {{Citation}} or the others?
I added citations already. I used the generic one, I think it's fine. Tama na ba? Kulang pa? --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs)04:46, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Ok, I should really have to study first. By the way, sorry for not participating in EDSA I, I was too busy with other articles and assessing Phil-related. Ok, I will try to accept that. You're the coordinator right? --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs)00:17, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
I had read your madaya thing in Kuya seav's talk page and it shows. Why? I could probably help the sourcing. The page is so poor when it comes to sources. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs)00:37, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Paalala, I'll be out, but not totally, by December... --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs)00:57, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
Oi madaya ka rin ha. Meron nga akong access sa library pero di naman complete yun noh. How I wish. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs) 09:26, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
We need to look forward to those who have the access on all the books we needed. Pumunta ako ng library after mabusy kay Marcela Agoncillo pero malabong makakatulong ako sa off line sources. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs) 09:39, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

O collaboration coordinator!

Well, December is now fast approaching and I guess your exams are now (or soon will be) finished so we can now step-up the collaboration activities. You should try recruiting a vice-coordinator. Let's see how this will turn out so that we can improve the process for the next collaboration. :-) --seav (talk) 11:12, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Gratitude

Thanks so much for your kindness (Philippine Barnstar). I hope my Philippine articles will be read and cited not only by students but professors of law, inter alia. Our very own Coconut charcoal (unique and awarded by Philippine BiD) and the 23 year legal saga of Rita Milla (abused by 7 priests, not duplicated in LA history) which I both created, for sure, would be read by Filipinos.

It's licensed with cc-by so its compatible with Wiki. For offline sourcing, I can't help anymore. No available books on that though its proverbial. Thank you for reminding. I'll do it now. --βritandβeyonce (talkcontribs) 13:04, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Tagalog taxonomy

Sure thing! I'll take a look. Honestly though, when it comes to scientific terms, I'd prefer that we stick to the terms most-commonly used in the scientific community. In this case, it'd most probably be the English equivalents of each taxonomic rank. Either that or just use whatever official translations are used by those who practice systematics in Filipino/Tagalog. Shrumster (talk) 09:57, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

On ignoring dramas, and practicing compassionate deletion

Hi Lenticel! thank you for the compliment. Likewise, I enjoyed your essay User:Lenticel/Deletion_isn't_Evil, which caught my attention right under the mysteriously blinking eyes (I wasn't expecting them to blink at me)! Indeed, many of those who have been here for a long time neglect to consider the feelings of others. It's one of the things I was trying to get at in WP:IAD. Best regards, Antandrus (talk) 00:23, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Greetings again: I added your essay to Wikipedia:Editor's_index_to_Wikipedia; I think it deserves better exposure. One of the things I love about this place is amount of creative thought people put into interpreting our policies, and the writing they do in the form of essays; a lot of these things are good reading for all. Hello Lentice, I noticed you placed an assesment tag on the article for Street Children in The Philippines. I was wondering, should I place these tags also on the articles on charities in the Philippines? Would this be of help? Im planning on eventually doing articles on all charities in the Philippines of which I estimate there are around 2,000. So any advice or guidence you can offer on how you think it best presented on wikipedia would be mnuch appreciated. kind regardsSusanbryce (talk) 14:09, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
