I have reverted your edits on Amy Willerton as the information you have provided is from an biased one-sided at best and non true. Also the articles Miss Asia Pacific World Super Talent 2013 etc.. will soon be merged into the one article about the entire pageant Miss Asia Pacific World as it has been deemed in an AfD that the pageant is not relevant enough for separate articles.--BabbaQ (talk) 23:38, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

You are more than welcome to edit about the controversy further on Miss Asia Pacific World article but not on separate bio articles such as Willertons as your information source comes from a non-reliable Korean national source. The Korean Police Proved BBC Wrong

In October 2011, articles from BBC and Daily Mail gained people’s attention. The articles were based on the claims of a British contestant who participated in the beauty contest held in Korea. She claimed that the organizers of the event asked for sexual favors from the contestants and offered bribes to the police to cover up the sexual harassment incident.

A Korean documentary program, “I want to know”, aired “Confessions of the Beauty” on November 12, 2011, in order to report the allegations and claims of corruption and bribery, gaining much attention from Koreans.

After further investigation, those claims and allegations were proven false and the British news agencies made correction on their previous reports accordingly. The public’s perception about this case, however, hasn’t changed much despite severe damage of the misreported news. So I would like to clarify what exactly happened

Did Amy Willerton make false claims?

She made three claims; First, some of the event organizers sexually harassed the contestants. Second, the organizers were involved in corruption when selecting the winner. Third, when the sexual harassment case was reported to the police, the police officer who was dispatched took the bribes and closed the case.

According to Article 298 of Criminal Law, the person who physically abuses or harasses others is subject to 10-year-jail term or a 15-milion fine. The benefit and protection of the law regarding an incident assault is to protect an individual’s right to make own decisions for sexual freedom. Also an assault refers to every activity that violates another person’s sexual freedom, causing a sense of sexual humiliation and hatred. The most important factor which should be taken into account is that sexual crimes are classified as an offense subject to complaint, which suggests that the case can’t be established without Amy Willerton’s complaint.

The three contestants including Amy Willerton, who claimed to be victims of sexual harassment, uploaded a video clip of their claims in YouTube. With support from resident officials in the UK, the Korean police tried to contact the contestants to confirm whether they want to make a complaint and clarify further details, only to face unilateral ignorance from the contestants.

If her claim were true, she should have taken legal action through the UK police or legal professionals rather than merely playing the media. However, she hasn’t taken any legal action.

Through the investigation on the organizers and contestants to clarify the allegations of corruption in selecting the winner and other event expenses, the Police confirmed that the contract clearly stated that the contestants were responsible for flight tickets and each local organization was responsible for other expenses. Despite the evidence of immature hosting of the event, the Police confirmed that there was no illegal activity involving bribery or sexual favors and closed the case accordingly.

Lastly, regarding the claim that the police officer who was dispatched at the scene had taken bribes and closed the case, the Korean policed confirmed that the police officer were only offered a business card as a means of identification, through thorough investigation involving a lie detector, witness interviews, and CCTV analysis. After the investigation, the British media outlet corrected their reports accordingly.

The police officer in question claimed his innocence and talked about the unjust situation through internet.

“As a father of a child and a police officer of Korea, I claim my innocence. My pride and honor from 20 years of dedication have been damaged by speculative reports which were only based on claims of one woman. I had to undergo life-detector investigation to prove my innocence.”

After the British reports which solely relied on claims of one contestant were released, the Korean news agencies started reporting the case without confirming validity of the reports, damaging reputation of the Korean police.

A misreported news article not only provides misleading information to readers but also cause significant physical, psychological damage to people who are involved. Especially, a misreported article from reliable media sources is easier to be recklessly spread and reproduced through the internet, resulting in bigger damage.

A risk of misreporting always exists despite continuous efforts of confirmation of fact. Sometimes the source itself can be false. However, insufficient news gathering will be to blame for misreporting. Although cross checking of news sources is the basic to news report, sometimes it can be challenging in reality. However, the Korean news agencies shouldn’t blindly follow foreign news articles without a conformation process.

And this is not the first time. When AP and the Reuter’s news agency released misreported news on the launch of hostage rescue operations of government forces in Afghanistan in 2007 and when misreported news on the late Kim Jeoung Eun’s visit to China came out from foreign news agencies, none of the Korean news agencies shows their responsibility to confirm the validity of those reports

The misreported article based on the claims of one contestant damaged the reputation of the police officer, the Korean police and Korea as a whole. Despite follow up reports about the case, a majority of the people still believe that the speculative, misreported news article is true.

Every coin has two sides and that is why it is important to make a judgment after hearing both sides’ claims. I hope that readers of this article tell people that Amy Willerton’s claims are proven false.

Hello, i am Lemontee33, Pageant cannot merge all together because because the 1st edition and current edition is different, for example venue, tv, date of final, debut country etc. on the right box. • The two articles for 2013 and 2014 have been redirected to Miss Asia Pacific World per Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Miss_Asia_Pacific_World_2011_(2nd_nomination) wich stated that individual years are not notable enough to have own articles. Some content per year can be added to Miss Asia Pacific World but the long lists of names etc that you've added to the two redirected articles isn't notable enough to be added. How do we put the below sentences when you merger all together? We are not compare with Miss World, but at least you should understand pageant system, people are not interested before, yet want to know this year's event, but you totally destroyed which is your ignorance, i believe! We will not promote wikipedia as our partner anymore when you still want kill this pageant. Explain

I will try to explain it for you. It has been decided by consensus via a AfD that you find at Miss Asia Pacific Worlds talk page that only that article should be covering this pageant. The pageant has not been deemed important enough for separate articles for year to year. So basically only the winner of each years pageant and overall statistics of the countries should be mentioned in the article. DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE TO YOUR EXPLAIN

I just tried to change the articles https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Willerton which Korean police declared it. But because of this issue, BabbaQ deleted all information about Miss Asia Pacific World, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. It was not changed almost 2 years. But you deleted all which is totally non-sense. No, BabbaQ did not delete any articles, it was me who did that, by redirecting the articles to Miss Asia Pacific World in accordance with a community decision in an AfD. It is still non-sense talking neither STANDARD nor NEUTRAL. This is Annual Contest with history and you deleted a history of 4 years even since 1968, but destroyed only 1 hour.
