Circular redirects (species to genus)

edit

Hi Leafeater! Noticed you had created a few of these, which others (like me) have been hunting down and destroying (not the ones you made in particular... more going after them wherever they're found.)

These cause problems for several reasons, not the least of which is giving "false positives" for pages when taxoboxes and links are wikified. In general, redlinks or stubs work better in th end, as they point to work that needs to be done by other editors (either in Category:Plant stubs or simply by virtue of having the red link in place). Readers can still reach the pages you are redirecting to by searching in any case, as the search will bring up all pages with the species name in question. SB Johnny 23:56, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
