Hi Leafboy222. I've replied to your message on my talkpage (basically, the answer's yes), so let's get the adoption process started off. First up, I'd really like to know which areas of Wikipedia you'd like to get involved with; what sort of articles you want to edit, whether you see yourself getting involved in things like reviewing or anti-vandalism, what you'd like to get out of editing; that sort of thing. Leave me a message (either here on on my talkpage) and let me know what you'd like to get stuck in to.

You can get your adoption school started by following the instructions on this page (under "Your first task"); work your way through the exercises there and by the end you should have a pretty good idea of how Wikipedia works. There's no time limit; I'll try to mark your answers as you go.

If you want to advertise your adoption, you can put a userbox on your userpage; just edit the page and add the code {{Adoptee|Yunshui}}. Finally, I think it goes without saying that if you have any questions, problems or concerns, you're always more than welcome to drop me a line. Adoption

Well done on successfully completing your first adoption task and creating your adoption school. If you're hoping to fight vandalism on Wikipedia, I'd suggest two things:

Firstly, know that it's not particularly glamorous or glorious. Wikipedia's culture (especially among younger users) tends to venerate anti-vandalism as a noble struggle against the forces of darkness, but trust me, it's a lot like being a school caretaker. The fancy anti-vandal tools are little more impressive than the bucket of soapy water used to clean obscene messages off school toilet stalls. The difference here, though, is that if you scrub out the wrong graffiti, it's you that gets into trouble. You'll need to know a bunch of boring policies and processes, and as other adoptees of mine have discovered, being too keen can get you into hot water. Take it from someone who's spent far more time than he'd like dealing with this stuff: anti-vandalism is actually pretty dull.

Secondly, if the above hasn't put you off, I'd suggest you start by tackling the Vandalism section of your new adoption page. Read the Anti-vandalism for beginners page and carefully work through the tasks there. In fighting vandalism, accuracy is far more important than speed; do things right rather than doing them fast. Live by the anti-vandal motto (which I just made up): "If you ain't certain, don't be revertin'". Let me know when you've made a start. Yunshui 雲‍水 08:23, 18 February 2013 (UTC)

Since you've been inactive on Wikipedia for over three months now, I've closed our formal adoption arrangement - no reflection on you, it's simply that adoption is designed for fairly active users, and so I don't think it's necessarily of much use to you.
