I restored your deletions in PrincessofLlyr's userspace: most of that discussion was actually about Wikipedia even if it was chatty in nature. I notice you have only made 13 edits: please acquaint yourself with the diverse range of methods used by editors to get stuff done around here before deleting other users' posts again. While I appreciate your concern, I have to agree with Jubilee that while our discussions occasionally go off-topic and there is some RL, non-WP stuff discussed on occasion, for the most part, everything is about WP. It's not always working necessarily, but if you take a look at our contributions you'll find that all of us work a good deal too. However, if you still believe your actions to be justified, please take it to an administrator. Also, I'm wondering, how did you come across my page? I'm going further to say that your actions were downright rude. Although you might have been well-meaning, please consider that you were removing others' comments on the basis that they were "MySpacey", which they weren't (as established above). Please don't do it again. The talk page guidelines provide more information on why your action was not appreciated (more specifically, see the TPO section about refactoring others' comments). An olive branch and a suggestion edit
Hello Lawler. Sorry if my comments above failed to assume good faith. I took issue with your rationale and reverted your deletion using Twinkle. That gadget automatically opens up the reverted editor's talkpage (if popups are enabled on your system) but I felt that none of the standard templates addressed my concerns, though my personal messages also failed quite to explain what I meant. The situation we are in is near-unique as far as I can tell.
First things first, though. Your edits in article space are all very constructive: this makes perfect sense and this is excellent, for example. I have no opinion about the alleged Sockpuppetry; my comments are simply to help admins make sense of the case. I hope that you can continue to add to the quality of WP with such edits as you have made in article space and article talk space. Did you edit as an IP before creating an account?
Second: I fully agree with your stand that MySpacing is generally unhelpful for WP; simply chatting about real life and uploading images of your dog playing the violin are not helpful, particularly if that is all the editors are doing. However, editing WP is generally a thankless task and the only people that really understand this are Wikipedians; hence, we occasionally engage in silliness and off-topic discussions either to alleviate our boredom or sometimes even to turn away from stupid actions we might be tempted to carry out, e.g. making an uncivil comment on another editor's talkpage. True, WP is not a support network and there are plenty of blogs out there where we can vent our frustrations etc but there is nothing wrong with a bit of high jinks every now and then. Even the most highly-respected admins engage in such silliness. Off-topic discussions are less useful, true, which is precisely why Airplaneman suggested we start a blog as you pointed out. My "Anyway, that's enough MySpacing for today" was sardonic, pure and simple. My comment about the silly game was a reference to an AfD that the Princess had started. Yes, the whole !!!! thing was stupid but was really just a brief moment of silliness an all our parts. And yes, the starving Yogi article was not especially relevant. But the rest of that discussion was about WP: the recent change to Vector, the pornography issue on Commons, adoption of new users etc.
Perhaps, in future, if you have concerns about any WikiPedian's behaviour, the best thing to do is to talk to them. Discuss your concerns with them rather than being WP:BOLD and deleting their edits! Been there myself, BTW... Failing that, there are several dispute resolution processes available as explained on Wikipedia:Dispute resolution.

Of course I read it. It'd be plain rude to ignore your efforts to explain your actions. To answer your question, I did edit as an IP. I worked behind the scenes, fixing typos in less viewed articles. I created an account because I wanted to get my name out there. I wanted to make an impact. Regarding your MySpacing, I'm concerned that all you've been doing for the past day is working on User:Jubileeclipman/WP Earthquakes copy. Why not go ahead and write an article about earthquakes rather than creating a WikiProject promoting work on earthquake articles? Lawlar (talk) 22:54, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

Use of smileys edit
Hey, just a note: on mono's talk, you said "The excessive use of smileys is ridiculous". Well ouch. I use smileys all the time - when I smile in real life, I type the smile. I see nothing wrong with that. Also, I highly doubt you're a sock of anyone. Airplaneman ✈ 23:55, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
- One thing noted in online communication is that since people cannot see each other's facial expression, it can sometimes be difficult to decipher the meaning of a sentence. - The smiley thing was kind of my fault: I found {{=)}} and thought it was quite useful. I use it far too much, TBO (too many WP:3LAs also...). I'll cut them (both) out now unless they are really necessary.
