Possible conflict of interest editing

Hi Laura Fainsilber (Chalmers). After seeing your question at the Teahouse and then looking at your user page, I'm wondering if you have any connection to European Women in Mathematics that's more than just a casual one. If you do, then you're likely going to be considered to have a conflict of interest with respect to anything related to the orgnaziation found on Wikipedia. Wikipedia doesn't expressly prohibit COI editing, but it's something which is highly discouraged because it can sometimes lead to some serious problems. So, if you have a COI, then you are going to be expected to adhere to the guidelines listed in Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. You need to be especially aware of Wikipedia's policies on paid/compensated contributions as well as any connection which might be seen as a finanical COI because their is very little room to maneuver when it comes to those particular guidelines/policies. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:29, 12 September 2018 (UTC)

Hi, (I'm not sure where to answer, so I'm interpreting this paragraph as a place for dialog). I have read the guidelines for COI. I am an ordinary member of the organization, with no particular responsabilities or decision-making power. There is no commercial interest involved, and no payment whatsoever. If all you are is an ordinary member of the orgainization and are not editing on the behest of it or anyone associated with it, then you're probably fine. Keep in mind though that other editors might feel differently based upon the types of edits your making; so, it might still be a good idea to keep this in mind.

The article still has some notability issues which need to be resolved which means it could be nominated for deletion by another editor. Much stronger sourcing (as explained in WP:ORGDEPTH is going to need to be found) for the article to survive such a nomination; so, any further addition of unsourced content will only going to exacerbate the problem. Also, if by chance you were editing the article from an IP address while logged out, then that's OK; however, you should try avoid do so if at all possible as explained in WP:LOGGEDOUT. Continuously doing such a thing may give others the impression that another different editor made the edits, or even worse that multiple accounts are being inappropriately used to edit. You don't need to verify this either way in this particular case (at least not here) unless you want to; just keep this in mind for future reference. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:48, 18 September 2018 (UTC)
