It's wikijargon for when a user inserts a citation into multiple articles without actually using it to improve the article. Almost always a means of promoting a particular author/book. It looks like you've added a bunch of citations to Sean Crosson publications in this manner. References are only for works used in the article. If you have a connection to this person (or if you are this person), please keep in mind Wikipedia has a fairly strict conflict of interest policy and its terms of use require disclosure of such conflicts of interest.
