Speedy deletion nomination of Sarah Ann Winn

edit

Hello Larissa5194,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Sarah Ann Winn for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Page deletion

edit

Hi, I saw that the page you created was deleted over concerns of notability. Looking at the deleted version, it looks like the article was sourced with primary sources - things released by Winn or by people, publishers, or organizations affiliated with her. These can back up basic details, but cannot establish notability.

Unfortunately it's really very difficult to establish notability for people who are in the creative arts but especially poets, as they typically don't get the type of coverage enjoyed by people in other professions - even those in other creative arts fields. What is needed here are things like reviews or commentary on her poetry in reliable sources like newspapers, journals, or books - which doesn't really seem to be out there. She's won awards, however these don't appear to be ones that would give notability as far as Wikipedia goes. The reason the site is so picky about what awards are considered major enough to give notability is because there are just so many of them out there. We have to be able to show where the award is one that has received enough coverage from non-primary and independent sources to show where it's major enough to show notability. It just looks like Winn is just a bit too obscure at the moment to really pass notability guidelines.

I'm sorry about this and I hope that things are otherwise going well for you! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:18, 28 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
