Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Larcin1978! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:

There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk Pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Acetic'Acid 01:44, 29 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Christopher Allen Weller article

edit

Thanks for your email on this article, though a message on my talk page would have done just as well. I've had a look at this article, and I can find nothing untoward in its deletion: this wasn't the action of a single admin (and I don't see how anyone's age is material here), but also of a nominator, and three people who voted for deletion, two of them citing "speedy" criteria. I'm very sorry to hear of your cousin's illness, but I'm afraid the usual notability considerations still apply. You might want to look at WP:DRV if you feel a mistake has been made, but expect similar questions to arise: is this person a notable writer, what's he published, has he been reviewed in a notable publication, etc. It may seem this has been dealt with hastily, but bear in mind how much traffic WP:AFD sees, and how difficult it is to see any real notability based on the article text as was, and the lack of google hits. Note that in this context "vanity" means creation of an article by someone connected with the subject, which would seem to apply here, albeit how harsh that seems as a descriptor. Hi. I'm the adminstrator who deleted the article. I'm deeply sorry if I have offended you in any way, and to hear of you cousin's illness. I also apologize for using the word "vanity", and again, I deeply apologize if I have offended you, as it was not my intent. Again, I apologize for any pain I may have caused, and I urge you to contact me with any other concerns you may have. Thanks, Sean|Black 03:17, 30 November 2005 (UTC)Reply
