I strongly suggest you withdraw your request for adminship. edit

Hi, Laleena!

While your enthusiasm is extremely honorable and valuable to the project, I must inform you that you should not nominate yourself for adminship at this time. Usually, candidates for adminship have 2000-4000 edits and have been active members for 4-6 months. You do not yet approach either of those standards. Instead of requesting the admin powers, you should try working on articles and reverting vandalism. Requests for adminship can be stressful for the most qualified candidates and you are rather unqualified at this point. If you need any advice or help, please contact me. To see most editors' standards for the adminship candidates they support, go to WP:RFA.

Good luck with your future endeavours! Srose (talk) 17:41, 7 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Message on Srose's talk page edit

Hi Laleena, I noticed your message on Srose's talkpage. She seems to be away, so I'll answer you for her. The best thing to do, if you haven't already, is to read the introduction page. There are also articles on how to edit a page, and how to start a new page. I know this isn't very specific, so if you have any questions you'd like answered in more detail, feel free to ask me on my talk page (as I'm not sure how much information you're actually looking for!).

Take care, riana_dzasta 14:40, 18 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi, Laleena - I'm sorry I missed your message. :( I wasn't away (I am editing less during the fall semester, though); I seem to have noticed one of my new messages and thought it was the only one!!! If you have any further questions, Riana is highly recommended. ;) I'll try to answer your questions, but right now at least, she's around more frequently than I am. Have a great day! Concordia Newsletter edit

  NEWSLETTER

Concordia is currently trying to relaunch. I, and all the members of the ex-council, wish to welcome new members to the group. We are a group who aim to promote remaining civil, in an environment where messages can easily be interpretated wrongly.

Help out now! edit

  • Try and help people remain civil! Talk to them, and help them in any way possible. Do not be afraid to use the talk page.
  • Give people the Civility Barnstar.
  • Make and spread some Wikitokens so people know there are people to help if they want assistance.
  • Add banners or logos to your userpage to show your support.
  • Suggest some ideas! Add 'em to the talk page.

We are a community, so can only work though community contributions and support. It's the helping that counts.

Decision Making edit

The council expired one month ago, but due to the current position of the group the current council will remain until the position of the group can be assessed, and whether it would be sensible to keep Concordia going. For most decisions, however, it will be decided by all who choose to partake in discussions. I am trying to relaunch because of the vast amounts of new members we have received, demonstrating that the aims are supported.

If you wish to opt of of further talk-page communications, just let us know here.

proposed Chicago project edit

I noted on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals page that you proposed a Chicago project, and that there already is such a project in place. I also note that you didn't actually join the new Chicago project. If you were basically "trying the waters" to see if you would want to start a project, I commend you for your initiative. Also, I was wondering, if that is the case, whether you would have any interest in trying to start another project. Currently, huge sections of the planet, including a large number of countries, have no projects dealing with them in any but a general basis. If you would have any such interest, please let me know, and specifically what particular part of the world you might be most interested in, and I can see if we can put together a page which might draw members. Alternately, you can look at the Project Director Geography pages to see what kinds of projects you might be interested in. Oh, and thanks for becoming one of the first members of the new Short Story work group. Kevinalewis is the more or less official head of the project, not me, but I'm sure we are both quite happy to have you join the new group. Thanks again, and happy editing! Badbilltucker 19:38, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

There's a LOT of them. Going pretty much exclusively from the United Nations regions lists, these are regions of the world with the constituent countries/areas following:

The reason I set them up in the above format is that earlier this week I created a new Wikipedia:WikiProject Caribbean, including all the territories in the area, and got several people to join in the first day. Particularly for the smaller countries, which may not have enough editors interested in them to create a project on their own, this might be the best way to go. If you have any further questions, please feel free to let me know. Also, if you want any help setting up a project page, I would be more than willing to help however I can. Thanks for showing the initiative to even consider starting a project, and good luck with whatever you do. Badbilltucker 20:44, 16 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Denmark WikiProject edit

Laleena, I whipped together a banner for the proposed project, in the event that it is approved. If not, it can be tweaked for the notice board I suppose. Some code may also be added to categorize any article the banner is placed on as Category:WikiProject Denmark or some such thing. Heres the code so far - my prototype is at the top of my experiments page:

This page is part of the WikiProject Denmark, a project to create and improve Denmark-related Wikipedia articles. If you would like to participate, you can visit the project page; all interested editors are welcome!

- Sam 14:23, 18 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

I can revise the banner to include assessment information if you want. I do have a bit of a question regarding the red-link project page though. I myself have been involved in the creation of more project pages than I really want to think about, so, if you would want any help setting up the project page, I would be more than willing to do what I can. Also, I think the recommended minimum number of members suggested for a new project is 5, a number we are almost at after only a day or so. It looks like you chose a winner, and I will help when I can as time and circumstances permit. Badbilltucker 14:27, 18 December 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I appreciate the offer. Any help in the form of comments, suggestions or changes would be great. Do as much or as little as you feel, and I can fill in the rest. And as for the redlink, well yes, that would definitely be changed in its final form. - Sam 14:38, 18 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

WP:Denmark edit

Hi Laleena.

Thanks for your message. I will have to agree with Badbilltucker on both issues. A cooperation requires a larger number of active members. Most of the people on the list have made few edits to Denmark-related articles, and the group of Danish Wikipedians is very small. I am the most active Danish editor on this Wikipedia and in the next months I will only be able to spend little time on Wikipedia, so I can't help much either. Regarding an "administration" for the project. I can only remember one project which has this type of organization (WP:MILHIST) and they have many hundreds of members. Other projects I've been a member of didn't have such structures, and I don't think it is a good idea to set up administrations unless it is really necessary. My advice would be to wait. Just my thoughts. Valentinian (talk) / (contribs) 08:18, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

NIV edit

I think there might (emphasis, might) be copyright problems trying to post the NIV on wikisource. I don't know enough about the copyright laws to say anything conclusively, though I do know that anything which currently is under any sort of copyright is something that we are completely unable to use except under the Wikipedia:Fair use provisions. John Carter 15:30, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think the only way it could be done would be to find an extant copy of the NIV, check to see if there are any listed copyright holders on the book and if those copyrights are for anything other than the biblical text itself, and then, if there is an existing copyright on the text itself, to contact the copyright holder and see if it would be agreeable to them. If it would be, and we could produce some verification of the copyright holder's agreement to it inclusion, then there wouldn't be a problem. Otherwise, we'd be in very serious violation of copyright laws. I don't have an edition in front of me right now here, but I can check if there are any copyright complications and maybe get back to you in a day or so regarding whether it would be possible or not. John Carter 19:51, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've been told here that the copyright holders of the NIV translation would almost certainly not permit anyone other than themselves to use the copyrighted material. John Carter 20:49, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Intercessors of the Lamb edit

A tag has been placed on Intercessors of the Lamb, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. WebHamster 00:18, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

For this article... edit

You are going to need to provide some indication of what makes this group important, what impact they have had or distinction they have achieved, and support this with a reliable secondary source. I have done a little with the article, at least bringing it to stub-status, but I have not removed the speedy deletion template because I cannot find supporting material that would convince me this should, indeed, remain in Wikipedia. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 01:45, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

nomination under Articles for Collaboration and Improvement edit

Hi, Please note http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Article_Collaboration_and_Improvement_Drive is only for helping established articles already at e.g. "good article" status to reach featured articles status, it's bad etiquette to nominate a clearly stub article which does not belong there. I've helped add content on the Evangelize China Fellowship anyway after encountering it on Afd nominations, as I thought the founder was a significant historic figure and the article belons. However, I would suggest you should remove that article from ACI, as that cannot be received seriously. Thank you. Tendancer 04:58, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Evangelize China Fellowship edit

Evangelize China Fellowship, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Evangelize China Fellowship satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Evangelize China Fellowship and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Evangelize China Fellowship during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. -- Jreferee (Talk) 17:14, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Chicago Meetup edit

I hope the time and place for the Chicago Meetup are convenient. Your reply would be appreciated.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 18:36, 17 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Laleena, according to my sources, Argo Tea is in a very safe area (daytime), between a Borders bookstore and a popular movie theater. It is close to mass transit, but parking your car will take planning. --Ancheta Wis 06:32, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

thanks for the welcome! edit

I hope to stay for a very looooooong period in wikipedia, even if my contributions will be mainly to the Italian wiki!

Just for fun I have modified your user page (aaargh!!!). But it was just an innocent correction of a mis-spelled word.

hee, it was a big mistake. I was "correcting" wrongly a template. So I roll-backed my "correction" (shame). --Fioravante Patrone en 06:38, 21 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alleluia Community edit

A tag has been placed on Alleluia Community, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the article and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. The article Alleluia Community has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. J Milburn 00:26, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Let the games begin... edit

Your coaching page is set up.

It can be accessed from VC coaching page or from the VC lessons template (see below). I recommend that you place this template somewhere you can easily access it, like at the top of your talk page, on your user page, or on one of your user subpages. Wherever is most convenient for you. Here it is...

I'll look forward to your replies to my message on your coaching page. The Transhumanist    03:15, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Reminder to Mentor edit

Hola Mentors!

Im sending you this reminder because you volunteered to mentor my students in English Advanced B as they become contributing members of the Wikipedia community. We start working with Wikipedia in earnest next week. I ask you to take a look at your entry in the Mentor Table at Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Mentors

Please update the information, esp. with what your technical and informational expertise is or, if you have decided that you no longer want to participate, please remove your information from the table. Please watch the pages associated with the project. Students will contact you via your user page and as soon as my students have user pages, I will put them on the navigation bar associated with the project.

I don’t need to remind you that your job is NOT to write their assignments for them, of course. I certainly will tell my students that… and the fact that you are volunteers that don’t have to help them… so they need to be nice. If any students misbehave (though I don’t expect it) don’t hesitate to contact me and I will take care of it. The goal of this project is to integrate successfully into the Wikipedia community. Anyway… what I really need your help with is helping students get oriented to Wikipedia, make appropriate changes and write about appropriate topics (see Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects/ITESM_Campus_Toluca/Syllabus for assignments). I also need your technical expertise… I am only an English teacher after all! I appreciate what technology does for us but I am no technical expert!

Again, thank you for volunteering and you will hear from us again soon! Thelmadatter 19:54, 28 August 2007 (UTC)ThelmadatterReply

Re:User page design edit

Have you checked out the User page design center? It's packed with design elements, and also has a "hall of fame" with all the best userpages around Wikipedia I could find.

Also, AGK is extremely adept at graphics and user page design, and has had 10 or more different user page designs so far.
