Image Tagging Image:Destiny -.jpg edit

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Destiny -.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 06:41, 22 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Destiny -.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Destiny -.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 06:41, 22 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging for Image:01-.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:01-.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

Hi! edit

Hi, we are glad you're trying to contribute to Wikipedia! However, I just took a look at your contributions, it seems like there are some issues with some of the pictures you've been uploading. You've probably already seen the automated messages from 'Orphanbot' but I thought it would probably be a good idea to explain it some more and provide you with a human to talk to if you have some questions :) Anyway, Wikipedia has a very strict policy about images, and their copyright: you can read all about it here: Wikipedia:Image use policy. The main thing in this case is that pictures from a magazine (like Playboy) can't be used to illustrate the article about a model or someone else. Please don't upload and add any more pictures like these, if you have any questions about what is and what isn't allowed, let me know! You can leave me a message on this page or on my talk page. --JoanneB 11:19, 23 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to Christina Santiago, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. If you believe this edit should not have been reverted, please contact me. cholmes75 03:28, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

The vandalism is in the form of adding pictures that are not needed. Although Wikipedia is not censored, there is a policy to avoid nudity unless the subject matter calls for it, such as breast, penis, etc. Also, the pictures that you're adding are huge! They break the format of the articles and also cannot fall under the guidelines of fair use because they are high resolution scans. Everyone has been reverting your changes, not because they don't like you or anything like that, it's because they are simply bad edits. So, please stop. Dismas|(talk) 03:55, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Okay, pictures are needed but not the centerfolds. Look at the articles for any other Playmate ( ex. #1 ex. #2, ex. #3) or any porn star (ex#1, ex. #2, ex. #3). None of them have a centerfold picture. Simply a headshot, in most cases. While Wikipedia is not censored, a full nude shot isn't necessary to display what the subject looks like. Also, please read the rules on fair use and you'll see that high res scans of copyrighted material goes against those guidelines. To illustrate my point, here's a direct quote from that policy, "Low-resolution images should be used instead of high-resolution images (especially images that are so high-resolution that they could be used for piracy)."
And finally, please sign your contributions to talk pages with four tildes (~~~~). It makes it easier to see who said what and also for people to get to your user page/talk page when they can just click on your name. Thanks, Dismas|(talk) 19:57, 3 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
I asked another user who is familiar with the images of models and porn stars and such about where the text can be found that relates to using nude images. The description is at Wikipedia:WikiProject Porn stars where it states:
  • Also note that images should not be explicit in nature. Pictures with the genitals, bust, or buttocks of the person exposed should not be posted, nor should there be pictures posted of the person engaging in sex acts. Pictures should not include the person covered in any bodily fluids, including semen. The point of a picture is to put a face to a name -- if people want pictures of the person, there is always Google search.
  • The reason for this is to avoid any legal entanglements due to the 18 U.S.C. 2257. We are here to create an encyclopedia, not a porn farm.
Also, you mentioned that the images should be there "in case someone wants to book them for an event." Wikipedia is not a model registry, it is an encyclopedia. If someone wants to book a Playmate for an event, they would go through the woman's agent or through Playboy. So the "booking an event" angle, doesn't have any legs to stand on.
Dismas|(talk) 01:59, 4 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
Now you're just being difficult and argumentative. I never said that the women were covered in semen or engaging in any sort of sexual act. I just quoted text that enumerated things that the pictures do not need for an article. As far as them being art or not, that is beside the point. The point is that you are being disruptive of the community and have had it explained to you just how you are being disruptive. Dismas|(talk) 16:21, 4 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Regarding your image contributions edit

Hi there! I'm Joe, an administrator at Wikipedia. It has been brought to my attention that you have been adding copyrighted nudity to Wikipedia. First of all, Wikipedia takes copyright laws very seriously -- the pictures you have been uploading go against our image usage policy and, in some cases (such as your use of Playboy images on breast and nudity) you have misused the fair use clause of the US copyright law, which Wikipedia respects and abides by. Secondly, images are used only in illustration of the person, and as such there is no reason why we need to have high-quality nudes plastered on the pages. It is disruptive and goes against the Manual of Style developed and utilized by Wikipedia. Repeated disruption of Wikipedia may lead up to blocking, as your acts may be viewed as an attempt to disrupt Wikipedia to make a point.

Judging by your comments at Dismas's talk page, I believe you misunderstand the purpose of Wikipedia -- we are not here to promote Playboy playmates. We are here to furnish information in an encyclopedic medium and we are not here to be these model's promotional tools for bookings, or for the advancement of their careers. (See: what Wikipedia is not for more information.)

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact myself or any Wikipedian. Thank you for your time an interest in Wikipedia. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loud 02:47, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Regarding Image:310Christina .jpg edit

It has come to my attention that you have reuploaded copyrighted material that was deleted on May 6th. Since this is considered copyright infringement (and the fact that you have, apparently, deliberately mistagged the image as public domain material), I have taken the opportunity (per speedy deletion policy) to remove the image. If you repost this image, I will be forced to block your account for a period of time due to the fact that a) you are attempting to disrupt Wikipedia to make your point and b) you are clearly deliberately infringing on copyright. If you wish to comment, question or offer your concerns, please do so. I would like to handle this amicably, but if it comes to invoking administrative action, I will not hesitate to do so in this case. Thank you. -- Joe Beaudoin Jr. Think out loud 02:25, 8 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Commercial use of Image:Raven011.jpg edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Raven011.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Raven011.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Raven011.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 13:50, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
