Hi Lady (Marion?)

My name is Daniel Poirier. Approximately 5 hours ago, the pizza in my oven burned setting the smoke alarm while I was practicing the Theme For Braveheart. I was practicing because the batteries in my iPad died while freezing in the ice hut since I ran out of kerosene in the portable heater in there. And no I didn't catch any fish, which is why I came back in the house, waiting to communicate with you.

Anyway, I really need to talk to you concerning your deleting my article " DNCH" in wikipedia. I need to know what it is that I must do in order to repost it.

Not that I'm in a hurry you see, it's just that I have many other things to attend to, and would like to finalize this one matter. Perhaps you could assist me even, should it convenience you?

I am looking forward to your reply on this. In the meantime I must tend to the moderate burns on my fingertips, tongue tip and lip.

Hi Daniel, first of all, no, I'm not really all that hard to reach - this is the appropriate place to contact me, and I am replying - I am unable to be on Wikipedia 24 hours a day. Now, as to DNCH, what is necessary is for you to show that it meets Wikipedia's notability requirements. That is, there must be coverage of the company in reliable, secondary sources. Have, for instance, newspapers written any articles about the company? Has it won any major awards? Is there anything published about it (other than just a listing in a directory)? You should also be aware of the conflict of interest guideline - Wikipedia articles must be written with a neutral point-of-view, and that can be difficult for a company owner to do. We_Reach_For_Tonight

I see you've just deleted this new article. I was just in the process of reporting it myself. Am I imagining things, or had the article actually been created with built-in 'delete' and 'hold on' templates? I'd not seen this before, and wondered if this was a whole new trick, or just a bug - or possibly a figment of my imagination? Sure, tell your wife, but does she argue with you about WP rules? ;-) Wikipedia:MOS#Linking is what you seek. I actually burst out laughing when I read your question - no, I had never even considered looking at that category before, but I see now that there are 42 articles in just that top category, let alone its subcats. I wish I had a good explanation for the disparity here, but I don't. I posted a link to that article on a popular social networking site, and some of my friends there are suggesting that it's that women are too busy with other things - but as there are many women spending lots of time on that very site, clearly choices are being made about how to spend time online - choices that don't seem to include Wikipedia as frequently as certain other sites. It is reasonable to post a link to the WikiProject; it is also good form to post a note at the discussion saying that you did so. (There might be an expectation that members of the project would tend vote in a block (true or not), and it's good to be completely open about how a discussion has been publicised.) Well, the history is still there; it's just you have to go to the original article history to get it. Wikipedia:Splitting is the relevant page. The Rolleston Committee, strange!

Hi, can you please explain why I've created this page called The Rolleston Committee to reference from another page but I can't seem to find it (The Rolleston Committee page that is).
If that makes any sense?
Is it something to due the catpitalisation? The article is actually titled the Rolleston committee, but I can't see a way to change it to Rolleston Committee, surely searches arn't case sensitive anyway?

The problem was that you left the 't' out of Rolleston in the title. I've moved your article to Rolleston Committee now. Actually, your first assessment was correct. There is no such thing as a completely hidden page on Wikipedia. Now, there may be no links to a given page, but anyone can find any page and both look at and edit it. Most folks don't go looking for things in people's sandboxes, and don't do anything to them if they find them, but they can. (Things in people's sandboxes are not indexed by, e.g., Google - so you you are working on an article on Foo in your sandbox and someone searches Google for Foo, they will not find your draft.) Antisexualism deletion discussion

That's OK -- the Wikicode bullted list structure ("*", "**" etc.) is OK for strictly structured and formatted data, or for simple one-level lists of "oppose" and "support" comments, but due to certain limitations it's not really suitable for a general threaded (indented) discussion. Hey Aleta- a serious copyright issue here

Do you recall that I like to add photos and I upload for musician's articles? I was looking at the various individual members of John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and just bumped into an article which is the biography of Greg Rzab. The entire article word-for-word appears to plagiarism from one source: GREG RZAB - John Mayall Website. I think the whole article is in serious need of the attention of the Admin. Bacon Challenge 2011 coming to a close

Dear ever-so-valiant Bacon Challenge 2011 participant:

Almost a year ago, the Bacon Challenge 2011 kicked off for the third year in a row with the annual mission of expanding and bettering Wikipedia's coverage of bacon. We are almost at the end of this year's Bacon Challenge, which ends on March 1st. I am pleased to say that, during this time period, Bacon Challenge participants have done a great job. Ten new pages have been created. Two articles have been granted the status of being good articles. Over one hundred reliable sources have been placed into articles, and over 7,500 words have been added. Six articles have been featured on Wikipedia's main page under the "Did you know..." section. These are all excellent results.

The Bacon WikiCup has also been exciting to watch. Contributors have been racking up more and more points as the deadline approaches. As I post this message, Worm That Turned is in the lead, with Cirt in second, and Acather96 in third. Cirt currently has created the most new pages, while Worm That Turned has done the most work in expanding articles and achieving DYKs. Acather96 has done the most work with image uploads. Remember, while the Bacon Challenge is ending in just a few days, it's not too late to make any last-minute contributions to get a few more Bacon WikiCup points. Everyone who contributes at least something will earn a virtual commemorative medal, so if you haven't contributed anything bacon-related to Wikipedia, now's your chance. Contributions can be submitted up until the end of March 7th, but only for contributions that were done before the beginning of March. The extra week is provided for participants to report any last-minute contributions, and to allow for any contributions that require a timely process (such as a good article or DYK nomination) to go through. At the end of the event, scores for the Bacon WikiCup will be completed and re-checked, and prizes will be distributed. Let's troubleshoot your RefToolbar problem

Hey LadyofShalott, sorry to hear about you troubles with RefToolbar. I would love to help you troubleshoot this problem as it is likely that if you are experiencing it, others are as well. First off, I would like for you to temporarily turn off all your user scripts in your skin JS page. Next disable all of your gadgets. Then turn on "Enable enhanced editing toolbar" and "Enable dialogs for inserting links, tables and more" under editing preferences. Go to edit an article and do a hard refresh (shift-refresh on most browsers). Record whether or not refToolbar shows up or not (it should add a "Cite" dropdown in the toolbar). Next turn off "Enable dialogs for inserting links, tables and more". Repeat the shift-refresh on the edit page and record if refToolbar shows up or not. Next turn off "Enable enhanced editing toolbar". Repeat the shift-refresh on the edit page and record if refToolbar shows up or not (it should appear as a square "Cite" button in the toolbar). Just now, without having done anything since posting the other day, I tried it, and did get the cite button I am used to (but on the left not the right where it has been - that, of course, is inconsequential). I am not currently at home where I do the majority of my editing, and with a different setup. Hmmm... this must be a browser issue, I'm thinking. When I made the above comments, I was on a machine using Firefox. I think the cache wasn't really getting bypassed. I shut down the browser and used an Internet Cleanup utility to clear the cache, and now I have the {{}} button showing. LadyofShalott 05:56, 3 March 2011 (UTC)

Your talk page edits

As long as there's an obligatory talk page, people will continue to post lectures on why they are right and I am wrong. I don't have the patience for that. If someone doesn't like an edit, they should just revert it without feeling the need to rub my nose in it. You've taken it upon yourself to protect the world from any attempt on my part to distance myself from this. I think you consider it altruistic. I find it kind of pushy and a little bit like stalking. Each editing policy article begins with: "It is a generally accepted standard that editors should attempt to follow, though it is best treated with common sense, and occasional exceptions may apply." Yes, occasional exceptions do apply - for instance, your current talk page redirect is merely silly, and I feel no compunction to do anything about it. I notice that you marked N salazar (talk · contribs) as a "suspected" sockpuppet of PoliticianTexas (talk · contribs) rather than "confirmed", while the checkuser marked him "confirmed". Which is correct? It makes a difference because PoliticianTexas is community-banned and "Edits by banned editors or on their behalf may be reverted without question (exceptions), and any pages that have been created by banned editors where they are the sole contributor may be speedily deleted under CSD#G5." You can double check with the checkuser. However, because PT and all previously verified sockpuppet accounts were stale, it was not possible to confirm that those other accounts were PT, though they were socks of one another. Hi LadyofShalott, exercise caution when reverting edits by DinNM. I double checked several of these edits that showed up on my watchlist and discovered that they were valid. If I may interject here, any edits of the banned user that another editor would like to take responsibility for can be readded. I would advise Greg to be very careful when doing so however. Many of the previous edits made by this banned editor were falsely sourced. In essence they looked good, but didn't stand up. If you are willing to take that step and verify each one, by all means go right ahead. Having dealt with this banned editor before however, I will revert their edits on sight. Please, if you are going to defend and take responsibility for edits of PT's neverending sock drawer, make certain that the edits are really valid - that sources say what they are claimed to say and licenses are correct. A drink

On 29 March 2009, I took my first small steps as a Wikipedian.

Now, 2 years, 47,000 edits, 2 RfAs and many memories later, I'd like to share a drink, on my "wiki-birthday", with a few editors who made my early experience here a pleasant one. As much as I would like to thank each of those editors in non-templated fashion, or even buy them a drink in person, I fear I would be celebrating my fourth wiki-birthday (and very drunk!) before the task was complete. Thus, please accept this as a small, if slightly impersonal, token of what these collaborations, words of advice and moments shared have meant to me.

Sure, I agree. Now, as you can see, the references are all from the same group, therefore I think it is biased. Also, is based on research and I see no reason why to keep it in a encyclopedia. Even more, being part of the area, the view described there is not shared, and the ones who do not share it are waiting to have more consistent and strong results (like the groups at Graz and Ghent). In conclusion, we do not know what we are talking about. Shouldn't the article be deleted or something? Do you think the warnings are enough? It was, apparently proposed for deletion but somebody rescued it. From my point of view I see it adding noise and biasing the view of non-experts or people outside the field. Speaking of things to read... I hadn't mentioned that I finished reading The Green Child the other day. That's an interesting little book. It's sort of odd, but I liked it. The whole political thing in South America juxtaposed against the otherworld society of the green people... I'm still not quite sure what to make of all that. The fascination with minerals appealed to me, as I totally relate to that (well, maybe not quite to the metaphysical extent of them, but...) I did have one geological nit to pic - the reference to the perfect crystallinity of obsidian is totally bogus; as a glass, obsidian is completely non-crystalline. Boot camp

Hey Lady, I'm practicing--see Wikipedia:New admin school/Deleting. Thing is, first of all, all those training pages seem to refer to a layout without some of the fancy pull-down menus, so not everything is in the same place on my screen as in the instructions. Second, in this case I can't delete the practice page (Wikipedia talk:New admin school/Deleting) since it has more than 5,000 edits (earlier today I read about deleting the main page--this is related, I understand now). • Hmm. I did see that at the time but paid no attention to it. Yes, the link was weird--because there was a question mark in the URL, no doubt. I've had that with German and Dutch newspaper URLs, which sometimes have square brackets in them. A year or more ago some geek kindly fixed that in an article I wrote, but I don't know what they did. One option suggested to me was TinyURL, but that was blacklisted. I had the same issue a few months ago (in an article on a Dutch topic, if I remember correctly), and I just let it be, with a plea for help to any geek in the edit summary. Interesting... so maybe it would work if one already had the right plugin. If you go in the front way, through the Athens Historic Newspapers page, having already logged in to GALILEO, then you are shown what plugin you need and given the opportunity to install it if you don't already have it. (edit conflict)There can only be one article creator (for obvious reasons), however you might be able to game the system by adding a second DYKmake template, we used to do it all the time, remember the glory days of WP:BACON. The cousins Mitchell

• M'Lady: Hope I am doing this correctly. Viewing the Institute of Government in your mirror led to a very common error: the William L. Mitchell of the Franklin House is a cousin to the better known William Letcher "Slickhead" Mitchell, member of the University Board of Trustees from 1842 until his death in 1882. According to Charlotte Marshall's Oconee Hill Cemetery history, Major Mitchell of the Franklin House died in 1860 and I find only "Slickhead" listed in the 1906 Catalogue of the Trustees, Officers and Alumni of the U of G. The glorious nickname "Slickhead" was given to the UGA Mitchell to distinguish him from his hotelier cousin and referred to his hair style - but I can't give a citation for that at the moment. Casting Universalism aside, what circle of hell is reserved for quibblers who never write articles themselves, while picking at those of others? Regarding Camak,the only part I question is the venerable chestnut, "a spot technically at the time in Cherokee territory".[5] "Technically" I suppose we're all squatters even today, but in 1801 the Camak lot was in Jackson County, State of Georgia, and part of the original tract of land purchased for the university by John Milledge that year. So Mr. Quibbler - where exactly was the boundary in 1834 or 1801, Ha? I'll try to find out when I'm not trapped in the reading room. I find that the source text doesn't explain the "technicality" or cite a reference. On page 6 of the book, however, the author notes what I've found elsewhere in this hunt; that the land that became Franklin, then Jackson, then Clarke was ceded to Georgia by treaty in the 1780's and formalized by the Washington administration in 1790. If you've had a chance to hear Steven Scurry, you will recall that there is conflict with the Creek after that treaty, but that ends by 1796. By now you may wish that a Cherokee raiding party had burned the Camak house, but while chasing down an unrelated reference question this afternoon I found that in the 1933 "Garden History of Georgia, 1733-1933" the short article on Athens claims that everything outside the town boundary was Cherokee territory until the removal in 1838 (my, did we play John Addison Cobb for a sucker) and this is reasserted under the caption for the Camak house on the opposite page. You will seek in vain for the authors' reference, so we may have the earliest mention of the "fact." It's a lovely book, though. Praum (talk) 19:12, 7 June 2011 (UTC)

It would have to go into a new article on Athens and the disambiguation page would have to be expanded to include both "Athens (city in Georgia)" and "Athens (the Wikipedia page your mother warned you about)."
