Birth locations

edit

Just so you are aware birth locations on wikipedia are as of the time of their birth. If you continue reverting people to the current name then you are likely to end up blocked from editing wikipedia. -DJSasso (talk) 18:15, 22 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Just to let you know, this has been discussed to the death on Wikipedia - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Baltic_states-related_articles, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Kevin_McE/Archives/2009#Estonians_under_Soviet_Union.3F, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:H2ppyme#Place_of_birth_and_contemporary_sovreign_state, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Martin_Reim, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Sergei_Pareiko, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Biographies/2011_archive#Country_of_birth.2C_for_historic_.28and_current.29_bios.2C_part_II and probably quite a few more. There are only a few editors who push "Soviet occupation was legal" and "But I knew the country as USSR" angles - and the current trouble-pushing IP is almost certainly a sock of a permanently banned editor. --Sander Säde 10:18, 24 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
