If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Erika Ringor and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for persistent copyright violations and mistagging images. Erika Ringor edit

Hello,

Recently you have removed / deleted photos of Erika Ringor. You stated that the photos where from taken from erikaringor.tripod.com, which in fact Erika Ringor created the tripod profile and page and uploaded her personal images that she owns. So if Erika owns the profile page and is the owner of her personal head shot photos can she post the photos on wiki? Are there any additional steps that need to be made?

She would like to attempt to add her photos again, will they be deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by LMA2007 (talkcontribs) 17:46, 10 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you can upload them, but she should be aware that by uploading them, she will ideally release all rights to them, or at least upload them under a free-use license. This means that they can be happily used by anyone for any purpose whatsoever. This is something that many people don't realise, and we have to make it clear! You should also state that you have permission to release each picture under the appropriate licence; ie that you are her legal representative or that she has given her express permission. Thanks for the feed back

Reply to your inquiry edit

There are several issues here:

  • If you and she are both using this username, that is a violation of Wikipedia policies. You each need to have your own username for accountability purposes.
  • She has no rights to footage of a movie in which she appeared, unless she also produced it. Movie copyrights generally belong to the studio or producer who paid to have it made.
  • Neither she nor her representatives should be creating or editing a Wikipedia page on her behalf. Please review WP:COI. She's welcome to contribute photos that she owns, but any other changes should be requested on the article's talk page.
  • If you upload an image and restrict it "for Wikipedia use only", it will be deleted. Images on Wikipedia have to be free and reusable, aside from some narrow exceptions which generally do not apply to living people.

Erika Ringor edit

In regards to the photo I mistakenly placed it under the wrong tab. I am the only editor of the page and Erika only makes side suggestions of factual information she wish to add in regards to her work. I will attempt to re add the image as directed.

Erika Ringor {hoto edit

I just added Erika Ringor's Head shot photo with information about her notable role in the film Love & Basketball, as well R. Kelly's Trapped in the closet.

Is this sufficient as well meets Wiki criteria?

Sample: Erika Ringor an United States American film actress is know for her role as Sidra O' Neal in Love & Basketball, as well as her role as Roxanne in R. Kelly's Trapped in the Closet Chapters 13 - 22.

Thank you for your feedback.

License tagging for Image:Erika Head shot.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Erika Head shot.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:06, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Kevin T. McCarthy edit

Hi there - the article was deleted because as it stands it did not meet Wikipedia's notability requirements. After reading that link, if you need any advice on setting up such an article please contact me. Thanks, ELIMINATORJR 18:40, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Some ideas edit

Here's some comments (I've moved this from my talkpage so it's in one place);

Kevin T. McCarthy (born December 11, 1974) is an American film actror.

Early life edit

McCarthy was born and grew up in New Jersey to Mary Ann and Thomas. He is the middle of three sons. Acting Beginnings When Kevin was in the 4th grade, his family moved to Hunterdon County, an agricultural community in western New Jersey. During those elementary school years, he found a home in the theater. As one of the smallest kids growing up, Kevin seemed to be 11 feet tall performing on the stage. When Kevin was applying to go to college, he considered a degree history & political science major. It was at the suggestion of his parents that he changed his mind and decided to get his degree in drama & theater arts.

McCarthy earned two academic scholarships and acceptance to The Catholic University of America in Washington DC, where Helen Hayes performed her final stage performance at the Hartke Theatre. Other famous alum Jon Voigt, Susan Saradon, Chris Saradon, Ed McMahon and Peter Bosco.

After graduating from college, Kevin headed back north to New York. He honed his skills doing black box & experimental theater in the Big Apple until moving to Los Angeles in 1999. He had never been to the west coast and didn’t know a soul there. It was the true Hollywood dream.

OK, none of this meets our notability requirements yet, but it's OK as a beginning paragraph (though I'd remove that last sentence).

Career edit

Kevin co-wrote and produced the short film, THE RETURN OF LAURA PETERS. The film won Best Romantic Short Film (2006) at the PEC International Film Festival where it was also nominated for Best in Festival Short category. THE RETURN OF LAURA PETERS was also nominated for Best Comedy at the FAIF Film Festival in 2006.

The problem here is that since none of these festivals have Wikipedia articles, there's no wayt to check their notability. The best way to get round this is to find references to Mr.McCarthy's achievements in reliable secondary sources; i.e. reviews, news articles etc., and include them in the article ELIMINATORJR 18:51, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Dennis Wayne Hall edit

Dennis Wayne Hall, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Dennis Wayne Hall satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dennis Wayne Hall and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Dennis Wayne Hall during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Pigman 00:51, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well, I'm not really sure what can be done to the article beyond what you're already doing. However, adding news stories that are about Mr. Hall and his career would be very helpful. Unfortunately, the reason I tagged the article was because Mr. Hall's notability isn't up to the standards outlined in WP:Notability or WP:BIO. This is why other editors are reviewing the article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dennis Wayne Hall. If the general consensus is that his career doesn't meet the standard of notablity, the article will probably be deleted. I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Pigman 02:36, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ericka_-_Trapped.jpg) edit

  Thanks for uploading Image:Ericka_-_Trapped.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Calliopejen1 04:46, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:ColdCase1.JPEG edit

Thanks for uploading Image:ColdCase1.JPEG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 09:55, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest edit

  If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Business' FAQ. For more details about what constitutes a conflict of interest, please see Wikipedia:Conflict of Interest. Thank you. BlueAzure (talk) 03:39, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dennis W. Hall edit

A tag has been placed on Dennis W. Hall, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as articles for deletion. If you can indicate how Dennis W. Hall is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on Talk:Dennis W. Hall saying why this article should stay. An admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 4 under General criteria. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please feel free to use deletion review, but do not continue to repost the article if it is deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. We welcome your help in trying to improve Wikipedia, and we request you to follow these instructions.
