This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because your username, LGAQ web team, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "E-mail this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you feel that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

Request reason:

Hello Anna, My name is Agathon Stathopoulos and I work for LGAQ (Local Government Association of Queensland). I can be contacted via lgaqwebservices@lgaq.asn.au or agathon_stathopoulos@lgaq.asn.au I notice you have banned my account (inappropriate username), banned my IP address and deleted the content I was working on all without any contact whatsoever. My employer LGAQ has asked me to create a Wikipedia page on our organisation. I used content that I wrote and that I am the owner of. The site you mentioned above - HR Advance - is only using that content because we gave it to them with our permission you will also find similar on contact on our public page http://lgaq.asn.au/about-lgaq. I am happy for you to contact my General Manager glen_beckett@lgaq.asn.au to confirm my credentials. At present I am unsure how to proceed as I cannot change my username to something more suitable because my IP address is also blocked. My plan is to create 1 page on the Local Government Association of Queensland and link it to the already existing Local Government in Queensland page and then I have no intention of creating anything else. I have also logged an Unblock Ticket Request. How would you suggest I proceed?LGAQ web team (talk) 05:20, 26 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

(1) Whenever you post anything to any page on Wikipedia, you release it for free re-use by anyone in the world, unchanged or modified in any way they choose, for commercial or non-commercial purposes subject to attribution to the Wikipedia page they copied it from. The copyright conditions described at http://lgaq.asn.au/web/guest/terms-of-use are not compatible with that, as they impose further restrictions, particularly in that they allow only "personal or non-commercial use". (2) Even if there were no copyright issue, the content you posted was unambiguously promotional, which is contrary to Wikipedia's policy, and so it would be deleted anyway. (3) Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy strongly discourages you from creating a page about the organisation you work for. (4) Since Anna Frodesiak told you that you were welcome to choose a new username, but placed a block that prevented you from creating a new account, I can only assume that she made some mistake. I cannot tell what the mistake was: whether she intended to allow account creation, or whether she intended to give you a different block notice, not telling you that you could go ahead and create a new account. My own view is that I cannot agree that "Your username is the only reason for this block", since the editing you have done has been blatant use of Wikipedia for promotion, which is another, and in my opinion more important, reason for blocking. Consequently, I would not consider unblocking you unless you gave an undertaking that your future editing would not be promotional, and would take into account the conflict of interest policy. However, I shall contact Anna Frodesiak to see whether she wishes to lift the block on account creation. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 12:37, 26 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

My apologies for the confusion. It is my fault. I am a fairly new admin, and seldom make this sort of block. I did not realize that the template said that you are allowed to create a new account before requesting an unblock. I deliberately prevented account creation so that we could communicate first.

I am looking at the deleted draft again now. It is promotional, but the subject is a not-for-profit association established in 1896. Google shows plenty of sources to satisfy WP:42. I think it could and should be an article at Wikipedia. My position is (providing JamesBWatson agrees), that I can unblock you so you can create a new account. Then, I would like to know what your new username is. Then, although it is strongly discouraged to write about an organization you are associated with, you may create the encyclopedia article about this organization. Prepare it via Wikipedia:Articles for creation or in your sandbox after reading WP:42 and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. Include lots and lots of references. Write neutrally, in your own words, based on the sources, with no copy pasting from the source. Does this sound reasonable? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 01:07, 27 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Anna thank you very much for your response. As you know i am new to wikipedia so i am very unaware of the processes and procedures in place. I was using my userpage as a test environment and actually had the wizard open to write the article but went to lunch and then came back and account was gone.
I am happy to rewrite the article in harrmony with the required guidelines. I will create a new account and let you know the username. 115.70.173.46 (talk) 01:33, 27 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Sorry i forgot to add LGAQ web team to the talk. I am using personal ipad because my IP address in blocked and I cannot edit any talk pages. LGAQ web team (talk — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.70.173.46 (talk) 01:37, 27 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hello. That sounds good. Let's see what JamesBWatson says first and then go from there. Many thanks for your understanding and patience. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 02:50, 27 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Anna, the block on my IP address has now been removed so I have created a new account using my personal name - Agathon Stathopoulos (formerly LGAQ web team). I have used my personal work email address: agathon_stathopoulos@lgaq.asn.au. I will attempt again to write the page on the Local Government Association of Queensland.Agathon Stathopoulos (talk) 05:34, 27 March 2014 (UTC)Reply

Okay. All's well that ends well. :) I will post at your new talk page and leave this account blocked. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 23:29, 27 March 2014 (UTC)Reply
