Bad VandalProof Edit

"Ben-Hur"
I happen to have the 1959 "Ben-Hur" on videocassette, and the lion does not roar at all. "Raintree County" regularly tuns up on Turner Classic Movies, and it does not use the still-frame lion. Tanner the lion appears on it, and he is definitely roaring.
I added the cleanup tag because the article seems to be poorly ordered- there was information in the introduction that belongs further down. For example:
- "Tanner was the third MGM lion, used on all Technicolor films and MGM cartoons. This was the second longest serving lion, having being used for 18 years."
- Surely "this" should be "he" or "Tanner"?
- "Having being?"
The article is also not NPOV in places: MGM is described as "legendary", which, although perhaps true, clearly does not belong in an encyclopedic article.
A little further down:
- "Outside the Culver Hotel in Culver City, California (where the original MGM studios were located), a "comical" statue of Leo the Lion is placed."
- Needs little explanation, generally doesn't read well.
The image captions could do with naming rather than numbering the lions, and I think the images need a little moving around: with them all down the right-hand column, there's an odd white space at the bottom at 1024x678, and I'd imagine an even bigger gap at 800x600.
It would have been sporting of you to leave the tag until discussing why it was placed, but that's no big deal: you're obviously a large contributor to the article, so I can see why you'd be upset about me adding the tag, but it does need cleanup, and Wikipedia is a community project. I'm willing to help clean it up, as it already has a very good basis for a fantastic article.
Hope this helps to explain the tag, which I feel should be re-added until all/most of these points are cleaned up.
I'll post this break-down of the article on its talk page.

- Hello there, I started the article, which is probably why I seemed kind of rude. I will attempt to cleanup (and I hope that others will help) and once again, I apologize for removing the tag.
No problem: I probably would have done the same thing if the article had been mine!
I haven't got time to clean it up now, but may have later. The article has a great base, as I said earlier. Some of the content is really fascinating- there's a possibility it could become a featured article after some work- perhaps we should aim for this?
Didn't mean any harm by the tag, sorry if it rubbed you up the wrong way!

Leo the Lion (MGM)
The article's looking better: when I have more time I'll try and read through it myself more thoroughly. What I came here to post was this, though:

Judy Garland and Gay Icon Section of Article
I am gald that you edited this section and I beleive that as it is today - is the best and most appropriate - unless someone can come across some verifiable new evidence of relevance to Judy Garland as a celebvrity and person the POV that has been entered several times that 12,000 of the 22,000 that attended her funeral is a rediculous assumption - I mean There MAY HAVE BEEN 16,000 women, 10,000 Latinos, 6,000 redheads. 9,000 children - who really knows what the make up of the crowd was and why anyone would want to slant it towards a predomionantly gay make-up only devalues Garland as a well loved and respected entertainer - it would be wrong for any community to try and hijack her as "theirs" exclusively. However I do beleive that somewhere the size of the corwd e.g. 22,000 lined up to pass her coffin is relevant - had she died today, after the acceptance of public mourning set-by princess Diana's funeral I dare say she would have attracted more than a million, especially in New York but again this is a POV based on changing values on how celebrities of that magnitude are mourned if open to the public but that is POV so although interesting I wouldn't work it into any part of teh article to promote my "own" interets as some do. .
Facts that I think are missing from the article that have (in my opinion) value to her over-all persona and fare actual history is her AWARDS and her Ancestry - both of these are valuable to the entire package of detail reflecting a comprehensive study that can be used by researchers. Also her "worldwide" influence on singers is a key point - she doesn't just appeal or wasn't only an influence on American singers.

JG Ancestry
Hello I have added Ancestry to the Judy Garland article - I beleive that this inforamtion is useful and interestign and relevant to her persona However I would welcome some positive editing to make it more punchy while retaining the interesting facts - I would appreciate your help - also I would like to add a photograph but I am a wikipedia photo moron! I also beleive a section on JG merchandising particularly the dolls and Xmas ornaments is also valid to demonstrate her ongoing appeal and commercial value as a celebrity - This article has to be among the very best and most comprehensive of all wikipedia articles. Any help welcome

Coronation Street - 1960s Kitchen-sink Drama
I removed the section in question because I felt it made little difference to the article and a reader's understanding of Coronation Street.
Coronation Street as an entity which has marked social changes in Britain over the years could be an article in itself.
I have posted my views on the Coronation Street discussion page and I feel that the article needs to be cut down in as many ways as possible, and flowery and long-winded paragraphs about religious representation does not, in my opinion, make a difference to a reader's understanding.

Judy Garland Article
LBM - I think that the Garland article is coming along very well inspite of some silliness - in any event I noticed that teh image of teh Judy Garland Rose was removed - I thought that it was good for the article and helped create some wider interest demonstrating that Garland is far more than a "gay icon" with a wide fan base and that she is well recognised (rightfully so) for her talent and significant contributions to film, music and culture - I see that the Addiction section is coming under scrutiny and it certainly is not too soon - too many people add eroneous inforamtion or their own opinion and I think this section of teh article requires th emost work - unfortuantley I am a terrible editor but hopefully someone will take it on in any event I hope taht youa re able to source teh image of teh Judy Garland rose and put it back into the article - I am a image moron when it comes to uploadign them . I ahve been tryin to work in that the song 2Its a great Day for the Irish" was written especially for her and was actually as big a hit for her as Over the Rainbow and that the song was in constant print by Decca for 50 years and that it is now an Irish American Anthem heard all over the world on St patrick's Day, played by every military and marching band but can't seem to work it in I had a link under external links to the wikipedia article on the song but it has been removed - not sure why though Regards vono

The new layout is far better - good work - still would like to see the rose back in as well as find a picture for Ancestry - maybe one from Nellie Kelly situated near the phrase she described herself as irish and scottish , again great work I think this is about the most comprehensive and best article on a celebrity that Wikipedia has. 86.12.253.32 22:59, 17 July 2006 (UTC)
