Conflict of Interest

edit

Hello L&S-ESQS. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Laura Kightlinger, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. TDL (talk) 22:33, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

We are familar with the policies, thank you very much. There is no conflict in correcting valdalism or inaccurate false data based upon verifiable inforamtion, such as correcting a false inaccurate DOB or address, etc.

Your account

edit

Apart from the WP:COI issue, highlighted above, it appears that your account is operated by more than one person, which is not permitted: under WP:NOSHARE, user accounts can only represent individuals. Sharing an account – or the password to an account – with others is not permitted, and doing so will result in the account being blocked. Salvio Let's talk about it! 22:41, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

You are wrong and have posted false statements on false assumptions. Although the account is under a name referring to my company name, it is an individual account operated solely by one person.

Then, if I may, why did you use "we", in this edit?

And, unfortunately, also accounts that give the impression to be editing on behalf of a group or organisation are routinely blocked per WP:ORGNAME. Please understand that I'm not trying to be mean here, but you need to either change your username (which you can do following the directions at WP:CHU) and undertake not to share your account or, alternatively, create a new account whose username only represents you as an individual (although this will not exempt you from having to comply with WP:COI. Salvio Let's talk about it! 23:10, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

My user name is perfectly fine and refers to me as a user - users can select their own user name and it does not need to be changed. I have been using it for many years, and it is my personal user account in which I act to correct inaccurate information on behalf of a client -- as such, legally, I am always acting for "we" - as I am a legally a representative of a client even when using my personal account, just as you are acting as an administrator on behalf of wikipedia, not as an individual when you cite policies. The above is the reaon there is so much false info on these pages, because people with first hand knowledge who seek to correct inaccuracies face such attacks.

I'm definitely not attacking you (and, besides, I do not act on behalf of Wikipedia, although I'm an administrator; because I, like all other Wikipedians, am a volunteer). And, again, you seem to contradict yourself, as you previously stated Although the account is under a name referring to my company name. Salvio Let's talk about it! 23:32, 15 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sockpuppetry case

edit

Your name has been mentioned in connection with a sockpuppetry case. Please refer to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/RRIESQ for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to cases before editing the evidence page. TDL (talk) 04:45, 12 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

L&S-ESQS, the above case has now been declined by Checkuser. As you will see on that page, several of us believe you are acting in good faith to support accurate content about your clients, though there is a procedural naming issue we would like to resolve with you.
Your patience while you and I discuss this would be greatly appreciated. None of what was stated above on this page was stated as a matter of force or demand or legal language. Let's all step away from that, and the bristling, and the feeling of being pushed around. It was intended as the language of discussion and issue resolution, as is the following.
Going forward, our group-consensus-reached WP:USERNAME policy is in place to encourage individual usernames, and editing by individuals (and the appearance of individual editing) as opposed to editing by organizations or businesses of any size. Pseudonyms, real names and abbreviations are all fine, as long as one username is used by only a single individual, and the associated business name is not emphasized. Combinations, such as the abstract examples TheDudesterLS or DavidJLS are fine.
Yes, someone has been using the L&S-ESQS username since 2007, mostly in what appear to be mostly appropriate, if occasionally contentious, edits resolvable by discussion. But the fact that nobody noticed the problem with the username until recently doesn't really make it right. I went back in time to WP:USERNAME as of 25 January 2007, when you created your account and it was clear then that the L&S-ESQS was not a best-practice choice, as listed in the #Inappropriate usernames section.
L&S-ESQS is a plural name, and does refer to the business name. So this is a polite request for you to change your username, using the simple WP:Changing username/Simple process. You are free, and invited, to name your organization and interest on your User page, so that no loss of identifying information about you or your firm occurs. None of what I'm suggesting is intended to harm or disparage you, your business, or activities, and I hope you see this request in the best possible light. --Lexein (talk) 20:57, 27 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. If you prefer to be unblocked for the purpose of changing your username to a username which complies with our username policy, so that your contributions with this username are recorded as contributions of your new username and rather than creating a new account, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice instead. Thank you.
