Hi Kusma,

Thanks again for your nomination. I've completed the whole procedure (accepting the nomination, answering the questions, transcluding the discussion on the main discussion page, etc) and hope the nomination will be succesful.

Blocked your bot

I have no idea what your bot is doing, but something's wrong with edits like this, so I blocked it. Please fix the whitespace issues and unblock your bot afterwards. Thank you, Kusma (討論) 17:29, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

Issue has been fixed. Next time please read the userpage as all you had to do to stop it was place a note on the talk page, I have a built in safety override to shut it off when it detects new messages. Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 17:34, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
I was just going back over some subst's that I made last night and forgot to add skip unless it contains #switch: which is in the esoteric template that I subst'ed. regarding that last error the user added #switch: 03 which is a very odd use of the template that I manually fixed. Betacommand (talkcontribsBot) 18:03, 2 February 2007 (UTC)

You know who

If you are not against it, I am going to block the major range utilized by Sheynhertz to possibly prevent him from even coming near the English Wikipedia for six months. If you feel that I was too harsh, I would not be opposed to you lowering the block on the /16 that you've blocked in the past.—Ryūlóng () 08:09, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

The thing is, I already blocked most of that range (at least, all parts of the /16 that were identified by some people in Japan) until March, so he probably uses some of his secondary IP addresses. See User:Kusma/Sheynhertz (we should probably try to collect all IPs there). Kusma (討論) 08:16, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Hoo boy. Them's big ranges. Although, he doesn't have the knowledge of a 15 year old girl yet.—Ryūlóng () 08:20, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I have blocked another of his IPs that he recently used. If he comes again, we should have him checkusered. By the way, do you know what happens with the ranges we both blocked? My block is hard and expires in 1 month, your soft block in 6 months. What does this mean for an IP that is affected by both blocks? Kusma (討論) 08:26, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I believe that the shorter block is dealt with first. That's how mistakes with consecutive blocks have occurred.—Ryūlóng () 08:35, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Well, that was in the past, when you could block the same user with different durations. I have no idea what happens with rangeblocks and with conflicting block parameters... Kusma (討論) 08:36, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

SKOAR!

Its the only magazine in India dedicated to games. Its not an unimportant magazine. You could've contacted me first. I created the magazine just 1 month back. Not everything will get more contributors so soon. If possible please revert the page. Thanks --seXie♭♭c 18:11, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

The page I found at SKOAR! was just a redirect to Digit (magazine). The page about the magazine was deleted by Robdurbar. You could ask him or for a deletion review. You should provide reliable sources that show the magazine's notability. Kusma (討論) 18:17, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Now thats strange. He deleted and redirected to [digit (magazine)]. Will ask him. thanks --seXie♭♭c 18:24, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Not Robdurbar redirected this, somebody else did. We currently have a couple of IPs and editors who redirect random computer magazines to Digit (magazine). Kusma (討論) 18:27, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
I just happened to check google's cached entries about the article. Looks like it was seriously vandalised. see > http://72.14.253.104/search?q=cache:KkZBVHRRNx8J:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SKOAR!+skoar+magazine&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=10Can it be reverted back. please. Spider-Man

Thank you for responding. I'd like to ask you to reconsider, since this anonymous IP is continually inserting his opinion, something that is not an objective fact, and he continues to do this despite two editors asking him to stop, and even after being given a fair warning. I'm not sure it's fair or right to ask editors to keep gong back to change an incorrect edit being spitefully put back in over and over. I'm wondering how many times he can do this before we get help. Thank you for perhaps considering this additional point. --Tenebrae 20:39, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for bringing it to my attention that removing warnings on user talk pages (User talk:Jboyler) is not a violation of policy. I thought for sure it was, but I guess I was wrong. -- P.B. Pilhet / Talk 22:58, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

There were several arguments over it two months or so ago, and consensus was that removing warnings is not nice, but warning or blocking people for it feels too much like harassment so it is not a good idea. Kusma (討論) 18:57, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Julia Griggs Havey Page

Kusma, Would you mind having a look at the Julia Griggs Havey page. The author originally submitted her own biography, which is frowned upon, and after being nominated for deletion, a very stripped down version was narrowly approved last year. Now it looks like she and Elonka Dunin are rewriting each others bios, and now Elonka has reverted Havey's bio back to a version that first prompted the call for deletion. I would like to get a few other opinions. I can't really weigh in because Elonka and Havey have teamed up and are harrassing me on the Juice Plus page. Thanks. Rhode Island Red 05:18, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Elonka's version of the Julia Havey page is a lot better than the original deletion candidate. I don't think they have really "teamed up". The dispute at Juice Plus should stay focussed on the article (which contains a bit much facts), not on you personally. Kusma (討論) 18:56, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Kusma, thanks, but Red evidently still disagrees, and has been attempting to revert my changes to an earlier version.[1] I really want to avoid an edit war, so if you have a moment, could you please do what you can to try and settle things? Any help is appreciated. Elonka 20:49, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

The RFA debate

Hi. I've seen your posts on the RFA talk page and while I don't agree with you on lowering the threshold, I do agree with you on the premises for the proposal. It may be hard, but what needs to be fixed are the criteria for adminship. For example, while the mop is certainly not a prize, candidates who fail generally have other flaws as well. Why not take it away as a reason for a !vote? Or set a numerical target for mainspace edits (say 2000) over which the not-enough-contribution objection cannot be raised? If the rationales for the votes are to be doubted, the votes should be discounted, or the rules changed. What do you think? Xiner (talk, email) 03:54, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

I agree with you that people are voting using the wrong criteria. But if people want to oppose, they'll oppose anyway and just cite the least stupid of the "per above" comments. Lowering the threshold is an easy fix against stupid opposes; changing the culture is very hard. Kusma (討論) 06:40, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Hann. Muenden

Fine; although since my objection is that the closure was in error, and there was no consensus, you might consider moving back to the original location, Hannoversch Münden and reopening the discussion. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 16:35, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

Hey Kusma,

I just would like to thank you for your support in my recent request for adminship, which passed with a final tally of 54/13/11. I appreciate the trust expressed by members of the community, and will do my best to uphold it.

Naturally, I am still becoming accustomed to using the new tools, so if you have suggestions or feedback, or need anything please let me know. - Gilliam 21:33, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Cobaltbluetony

I wondered if you could look at the contributions of Cobaltbluetony (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · page moves · block user · block log) and possibly comment how likely you see him to be admin material. I have been noticing tony for quite some time and especially since being admin myself I saw his work on new page patrol, which was not just tagging but some very polite followup and explainations. He did start to fill out a RfA back in October, but never transcluded it to the main page. Again if I were to nominate him, what would you recommend we would do with that non-starter? Agathoclea 22:17, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

What I see looks okay, solid contributor, can't really judge his behavior the Jehovah's Witnesses dispute without investing more time than I have right now. Not much recently in the way of article writing (typical namespace shift for admin candidates, though). Editcountitis opposes from low Wikipedia talk namespace and image namespace edits are to be expected. Namespace balance (more user talk than mainspace) needs to be explained: is that because he is chatty or just posts welcome templates to anybody, or because he is an excellent new page patroller whose speedies always work (1654 deleted edits, which is more than I have) and who warns every time and discusses with newbies? Should be explained in nom statement. If he wants, the old RfA can be deleted per G7, or userfied or whatever. As it has no significant incoming links, it shouldn't really matter, and the new RfA shouldn't be called the "second" as nobody commented on the "first". There is a bit much trivial stuff (created redirect? so what?) on the old RfA page. Anyway, with a good nomination statement (Durin- or Blnguyen-style, needs some real effort), he should do okay unless there is something bad in the past or people care too much about images. But you never know at RfA... If you are sure that the candidate won't despair if he is rejected, go ahead if he agrees. Kusma (討論) 09:37, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello I am veryyy new here and learning my wiki ropes. I translated with permission the article about Wedel. I think I have to do clean-up work?? can anybody help me? and can I name the originator from Germany at the end of the article? And I unfortunately(I think) took out the metoining that this Wedel is a stub and please expand. I was wrong. now I can not edit the Wedel article anymore. how can I or somebody who knows, correct this unfortunate situation? appreciate any help. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Roeber(F) (talkcontribs) 17:52, 6 February 2007 (UTC).

Tuning my AfD radar

Hi. I'm trying to develop my process radar and wondered if you'd take a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Latin phrases (2nd nomination). If I was minded to interfere and close an AfD as a non-admin (which I'm not), I'd say there is a such a strong Keep consensus, it's WP:SNOW territory. Would you agree? --Dweller 11:13, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

There is consensus to keep the content on some Wikimedia project. I wouldn't read it as overwhelming consensus that this project has to be Wikipedia. However, as it has not been transwikied properly anywhere else, it will most probably be kept here because nobody can figure out what exactly to do. If nobody is going to figure out what exactly is the "right" thing to do with this page, further discussion is probably pointless. Kusma (討論) 11:24, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Yup, it does seem that way. Thanks, --Dweller 13:29, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Possible pro nazi vandalism of the William II (German Emperor) page

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=William_II%2C_German_Emperor&curid=50450&diff=106245931&oldid=106245241

With changes like: William respected Hitler, and removal of words like never the less, it seems like a pro nazi slogan rather than a wikipedea entry.

What do you think about it? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jtgerman (talkcontribs) 16:46, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

I have reverted the anon (you can be bold and do so yourself when you find a problem). I can't say anything about the one source he cites, but the changed bias was not supported by sources well enough. Kusma (討論) 17:04, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Location Maps

On the WikiProject Countries talk page, you had either explictly declared a general interest in the project, or had participated at a discussion that appears related to Location Maps for European countries.
New maps had been created by David Liuzzo, and are available for the countries of the European continent, and for countries of the European Union exist in two versions. From November 16, 2006 till January 31, 2007, a poll had tried to find a consensus for usage of 'old' or of which and where 'new' version maps. At its closing, 25 people had spoken in favor of either of the two presented usages of new versions but neither version had reached a consensus (12 and 13), and 18 had preferred old maps.
As this outcome cannot justify reverting of new maps that had become used for some countries, seconds before February 5, 2007 a survey started that will be closed at February 20, 2007 23:59:59. It should establish whether the new style maps may be applied as soon as some might become available for countries outside the European continent (or such to depend on future discussions), and also which new version should be applied for which countries.
Please note that since January 1, 2007 all new maps became updated by David Liuzzo (including a world locator, enlarged cut-out for small countries) and as of February 4, 2007 the restricted licence that had jeopardized their availability on Wikimedia Commons, became more free. The subsections on the talk page that had shown David Liuzzo's original maps, now show his most recent design.
Please read the discussion (also in other sections α, β, γ, δ, ε, ζ, η, θ) and in particular the arguments offered by the forementioned poll, while realizing some comments to have been made prior to updating the maps, and all prior to modifying the licences, before carefully reading the presentation of the currently open survey. You are invited to only then finally make up your mind and vote for only one option.
There mustnot be 'oppose' votes; if none of the options would be appreciated, you could vote for the option you might with some effort find least difficult to live with - rather like elections only allowing to vote for one of several candidates. Obviously, you are most welcome to leave a brief argumentation with your vote. Kind regards. — SomeHuman 7 Feb2007 20:21 (UTC)

Drini deleted your comments from the Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard

[2]

AFAIK, this is disruptive behaviour.

I asked for all the comments (and my original text, rebutting Drini´s defamation against me) to be reposted again [3], and Drini deleted my petition and posted new defamatory (i.e., false) stuff against me [4].

I was receiving good ideas about what to do from other administrators until Drini came and started posting factually false nonsense [5] about me (as Drini recognized [6]). Drini was called to enter the fray from the Spanish Wikipedia [7].

I think that this Drini´s behaviour is outrageous, and I ask you for help. What can I do?.

Randroide 11:47, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Not so bad. False alarm, maybe

Well, the situation is not so bad as I thought (albeit is neither a good one).

Drini pasted the whole discussion in a different linked page [8]

I missed that pasting. I thought the text was deleted.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Nonetheless, any comment?.

Randroide 12:10, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

There is not much to say here; discussion of your Spanish Wikipedia block is pretty much offtopic on the admin noticeboard, so moving it elsewhere is a good idea. If there are real problems on the Spanish Wikipedia, only people from the Spanish Wikipedia or the Foundation will be able to help you. Kusma (討論) 13:32, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Earlier you created a re-direct for Template:Heavymetalfooter. A user has reverted it back and is substituting it...again...for the accepted {heavymetal} template. Is it possible for you to put a protect on that so it doesn't get used again? Thanks 156.34.142.110 20:02, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Protection would not be appropriate in this case yet. Please talk to the other user and tell him that template forks are a bad idea, and that he should discuss his proposed addition at Template talk:Heavymetal and gain consensus for it there. Kusma (討論) 08:33, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Burgtheater in the German Wikipedia

Hallo, Kusma,

SatyrBot tagging WikiProject Spain

Hi, Kusma! Thanks for bringing that to my attention! I've notified the project about that cat probably not belonging to their project. From what I understand, some kind souls have undone the mistagged articles, but I'll ask the project to check. Thanks! -- SatyrTN (talk | contribs) 16:23, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

Removal of warnings (Template:Vblock)

You don't have to check the page history to see whether a user has removed warnings or block messages. The removal of warnings can be seen in the user's contributions, which any vandal patroller should check anyway to see whether the user in question has vandalized more pages. Edits to the own user talk page are a typical indication that previous warnings have been removed, and a sterner warning can be given (or a block applied directly). Note that the block is for vandalising the encyclopedia, not for removing boilerplate messages from the own talk page. Kusma (討論) 14:02, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

I understand your point. However, there is no valid reason for a vandal to remove such warnings minutes after they're issued, and it does make it, at least marginally, more difficult for patrollers to recognize the amount of prior warnings a vandals has already received and decide on the next step to take. Take a look at a history such as this; I'm sure you'll be able to figure out the full warning history, but the time you spend doing that can be better spent fixing other vandalism.
I am not going to get into an edit war with you over this, but I--and most admins--will continue to treat the removal of warnings as disruptive, so it's only fair to warn vandals of this beforehand. I'll leave it up to you to come up with a better wording, if you wish. Owen× 01:39, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

When running the bot, I merely run it off the templates listed within Category:Deprecated_templates. I had no part in the discussion to deprecate it.^demon[omg plz] 03:59, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

So I can add any template to the category and if nobody notices it, your bot will come along and replace it? That doesn't sound great to me. Unlike a TFD message, the deprecation of the templates is not noticed by anyone until your bot comes along and does it, at which time it is too late for discussion. Your edits to my talkpage

Hi. You made this edit to my talkpage during my Wikibreak. I find it a little bit suspicious so I'd like to have your explanations. Was there an RfC for Ghirla? And why did you blank my talk? Thanks, Ukrained 09:25, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

There was a Ghirla RfC at Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Ghirlandajo. Actually, the whole thing evolved into Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Piotrus-Ghirla. The edit to your talkpage that I undid was by banned user Bonaparte, who is not allowed to edit here. Kusma (討論) 11:19, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Sure, your talkpage is yours to edit almost any way you please. The removal of Bonaparte's troll edits was meant as a service, not as an intrusion. I am sorry if it looked different to you. Anyway, welcome back! Kusma (討論) 21:25, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

I'm not Scared

Do you think I'm scared of you, or Cream147. I'M NOT! I won't back down. Cream147 is treating me unfairly. I'm making useful edits to wikipedia, and Cream is just being nasty and not assuming bad faith, which is against policy. Cream should be blocked indefinatly! Wedel, copywright

Hi Kusma, thanks for answer. I will get copywright permission from the source. She had sent it to me in regular email already before I started translating. So no problem to get it again. Greetings. hope this is correct forum to answer you. Roeber(F) 15:14, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Your edit to WP:D

I agree that the "R to disambiguation page" was wrong, but the rest of the sentence was OK. I reverted the deletion of the sentence, and then removed the offending phrase. Feel free to discuss this. Thanks for pointing it out, and happy editing! Chris the speller 18:31, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

I was unsure about the rest of the sentence, and so removed it. I believe in WP:BRD so it is all fine. Kusma (討論) 20:58, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Daer Kusma

I had mumps when I was 13, and I got elephant ears, but they have dissapeared now, so dont worry.

You say you deleted American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina because of copyright issues (the text was copied from our webpage). But we hold copyright, since WE ARE American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Do I really have to rephrase all the text?

Edina Husanovic, International Marketing Officer, American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Edinaemir (talkcontribs) 09:33, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

please check my article

Hello, i re-wrote the article as you told me, and put it on my user page, so that you can review it and let me know if you can remove the deletepage notice. It's at at User:Todesfee/Kaiaphas. Let me know if it's fine... --Todesfee 01:20, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

The article is still a bit weak. The notability of Kaiaphas seems to be derived mostly from his involvement in Ancient (band). as that seems to be his only project to have released anything on a moderately major label. (It is also the only thing I get about him from allmusic.com, one of the sites our guideline WP:MUSIC points us to as "reliable"). Aren't there any other reliable sources independent of the person's own websites? Our criterion for inclusion is "appears in multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician/ensemble itself and reliable". I have no idea what ORKUS is and whether the appearance of the band there makes the cut. The Dark Europa zine with a Geocities website doesn't look great as a source to me. Anyway, the deletedpage notice has been removed (as a routine maintenance task) already by someone else, so the spot is free again for you to use. I won't do anything about the article at the moment, but can't promise that it won't be nominated for deletion again (or replaced by a redirect to Ancient (band)) by someone else. Hope that helps, Kusma (討論) 09:23, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

hello Kusma, Orkus is the biggest gothic magazine in Europe, distributed worldwide by Metropolis distribution, in english and german languages. Cosmic Conspiracy records are distributed by Wirikuta , Psyshop, and Saikosounds, and i believe that those works are non-trivial and the source is independent from the artist. So is Sleaszy Rider records. So, should i include these links in the article to make it more reliable?--Todesfee 14:36, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

These are don't seem to be about Kaiaphas, so there's not much point including them. What you should do about the Orkus magazine story is cite the exact issue and article and attribute anything that can be sourced to the article to it to show that the information you present is verifiable. If you want to establish that Orkus is an important and reliable source, you could try writing an article about the magazine. If you need to finds more knowledgable people than me to help with your article, you could try to ask at the talk page of the metal project. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 15:16, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

I added more references to the article, i hope these are considered reliable by you.--Todesfee 21:40, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

middlebury again

Hello, I now agree with your point from before (about urban dictionary), but this time I am worried information and quotes about the campus wikipedia controversy (with a link to the NY Times) will be removed. Please protect the page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Petitepassionz (talkcontribs) 04:16, 23 February 2007 (UTC).

There is not enough activity at the page to justify protection at this time, per the Protection policy and the Semi-protection policy. Whether the minor do-not-cite-Wikipedia incident (people shouldn't cite Britannica either, at least not for any kind of real research) should be mentioned in the article or not should be discussed at Talk:Middlebury College. Protection is not used to take sides in a content dispute. The article is still in need of some better writing per WP:PEACOCK. Kusma (討論) 09:17, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Vandal-only account

Small backlog at AIV, where this guy's already been reported, any chance of a hand with User:Fafgg? Thanks --Dweller 13:43, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Blocked. Ugh, I'll deal with the AIV backlog instead of the speedy backlog then. Kusma (討論) 13:46, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Ode to the helpful admin

I spend a lot of time patrolling Recent Changes,
Looking for destruction that's been wrought on our pages,
There are more silly people than I could possibly handle,
So thank you blocking this annoying vandal. --Dweller 13:49, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

Jaconomy

The entry 'Jaconomy' which has been deleted was factual and was about a style of furniture. I have this style of furniture in my possession. This furniture had labels attached which is where the information was obtained for my entry. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Railwaymanx (talkcontribs) 09:46, 24 February 2007 (UTC).

The concern about the article was "Can't find any verification for this, can't find references to this furniture style or this company or the exhibition, nor a cross-reference for wolberg + jaconomy. There's simply nothing to build on in this article, it's too obscure." As the deletion was done via our WP:PROD process, I can undelete the article for you if you want, but I will immediately list it for a deletion discussion at WP:AFD, since the article does not cite any reliable sources, and another editor has expressed concern that it doesn't meet the standards of our verifiability policy. So if I restore the article, it will probably need to be rewritten. The sources ("labels attached to the furniture") are not reliable by our standards, though. Please find better sources, then you can submit the article again. Kusma (討論) 11:11, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for supporting my RfA. It was (47/0/0) upon closure and now phase I is complete. I think the tools will aid both me and the encyclopedia. can you check

Can you have a look at my current edits. I am trying to diffuse the situation, but I am worried we will have trouble on our hands. Agathoclea 12:54, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Deleting Nachshub is fine, speedily would have been ok too. I'm very busy IRL today; hope it will be better tomorrow and I can have a more detailed look. Kusma (討論) 22:39, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
I have speedied Nachshub; Waffenfarbe is worth a debate (but I have never heard the term, so I won't comment). Kusma (討論) 12:21, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. It was important for me to follow the process as an example. It looks like it worked. Agathoclea 12:24, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

My RfA

Kusma, my RfA has just been successfully closed. Thanks again for nominating me, I'll try not to betray the trust you put in me. If you (or any other admin for that matter) notice some dubious or objectionable use of the admin tools by me, please feel free to undo it and to discuss it with me (talk page or some noticeboard). I hope it doesn't happen too often :-) If you need any help with anything (backlogs, disputes, ...), drop me a note! Fram 13:25, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Ceiling Cat

Why is ceiling cat deleted? This is an Internet legend and deserves to have a page on one of the finest pages on the Internet. O'Rly owl has his own page and so should ceiling cat!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.130.179.47 (talkcontribs) 16:44, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

It was discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ceiling Cat. If this internet meme is more notable now (that is, if it has been mentioned in reliable sources so we can write a well-attributed article), the article could possibly be recreated. However, it is not clear at the moment that the subject passes our inclusion criteria for websites, so the article would need to make a strong claim that it does. The last version of the article didn't. If you still think deletion was inappropriate, feel free to use Deletion review. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 16:52, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
