I struggled to find the link to the seating chart (I eventually found it in my browser history), and realized it should be linked from 40th Canadian Parliament, Canadian House of Commons, or the like. Personal attacks

As per your comment here, I would recommend that you acknowledge that personal attacks are attacking the person (i.e. "you are stupid") and not their actions (i.e. "extremely troubling conduct"). As such, your comments are 100% opposite of Wikipedia policy and improperly inflammatory. Ottava Rima (talk) 01:51, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry, but if you honestly think that is a personal attack, then I really don't have any confidence in your understanding of policies. Personal attacks are attacks on their person, saying that they are a bad candidate is not an attack on their person. It is an attack on their credentials. Now, if you really believe in your interpretation, you can take this up at AN/I. However, right now, your insinuations to me violating policy does not belong at the voting page. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:03, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
There is no apology necessary. Your disagreement with my view is perfectly acceptable. However, I do not want it to be used in order to justify claims of incivility, which is a blockable offense and can cause far too much drama. Ottava Rima (talk) 02:08, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
P.S. check my block log. Maybe it will explain some things. Note the "legal threat" bit causing quite a controversy and subsequent attempts by pro-blocking me for "legal threat" groups trying to rewrite the NLT page resulting in an additional "edit warring" block against me (only three edits on that page, all trying to keep the page from being changed while discussion was still taking place on the talk page). Great times, especially when the reviewers of the blocks and the only supporters happen to be her regular associates and not neutral admin. Am I bitter? Sure. Middle East campaign

As the original author of the Middle East campaign who as recently as October 2008 was in favour of keeping this article (talk:Middle East campaign#Fictious?). As I was not informed of this AfD, I would appreciate it if you would either reconsider your option. I am not in favour of either deletion or merger. --PBS (talk) 20:58, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

BTW a quick Google of books ["Middle East campaign" Persia ]would show that this is not just a descriptive name see for example:
  • Democracy and War By David L. Rousseau p. 223
  • A Short History of the Middle East By George E. Kirk p. 199
  • William Slim, commander of the Indian 10th Division certianly looked on it as one campaign. "We had scrambled thought skirmishes of the Iraq rebellion, been blooded, but not too deeply, against the French in Syria, and enjoyed the unrestrainedly the opéra bouffe of the invasion of Persia. We had bought our beer in Haifa and drunk it on the shores of the Caspian. We could move, we could fight, and we had begun to build up that most valuable of all assets a tradition of success. We had a good soldierly conceit of ourselves. Now in March 1942, in spite of dust storms....it was stimulating to be in what we all felt was a critical spot, waiting for the threatened German invasion of Turkey."
--PBS (talk) 21:22, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Must have been told (as it is in the history) but for some reason did not see it on the page. However the section in the Middle East Theatre of World War II#Middle East Campaign is in summary form with Middle East campaign and a detailed article to the summary, as one usually does in such cases. If I had taken part in that debate as I am doing now there would not have been a consensus to merge. It is debatable if there was anyway, and there is even less of a consensus now that I am engaged in the debate. So what to do? By the way the version in the other theatre article is a cut and past from the Middle East campaign article. Which I intend to turn into a summary. --PBS (talk) 22:34, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

You can see my response to the above on the ME Campaign talk page, where it was also posted.
Since last summer there has been 4 major, including this last discussion, efforts to improve this area of the wiki. Two have been conducted under democratic votes and the above user keeps coming in following the conclusion of these debates/actions and then fights tooth and nail to halt any improvement being made and even attempted to revert months of work done in one case.
I simply reject the premise that with his presence the vote would have gone differently, I tend to believe that the community is smart enough to look at material and have the ability to make an informed decision. With that said the community has already done so (twice!)…--EnigmaMcmxc (talk) 15:57, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of Epitomics Article

I'm new to wiki. I'd like to create new articles about technology our company created. I started with an article about our company - Epitomics, explaining the name with the short description of the company. This article was deleted in couple of seconds. Can you please let me know what did we do wrong? --User:Epitomics 14:02, 11 January 2009 (PST)

Protection of King Arthur

The article is being vandalized on a very regular basis, the request for protection was made not because it was a Featured Article... but because it is being heavily vandalized. Today nearly all of the last 50 edits have either been vandalism or reverts of vandalism. Do you think you could semi-protect the article briefly? I can't revert the vandalism fast enough. Icemotoboy (talk) 22:37, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of N-able

I am fairly new to Wiki, so I apologize in advance, but I have been trying to build an N-able page. My goal is to provide some history into this organization, talk a little bit out its products. I am not trying to sell anything, or even promote anyone to going to the company website, I am simply trying to give users a common definition for this organization. The first time I posted this article, I made a critical error in that I set-up my user name as the title of the article (and for that, I apologize). I tried reposting, but was told that it was "blatant advertising". I took out as much of the offending text as possible, but now it is permanently deleted because I have tried to post several times. Is there anything I can do to fix this article? My ultimate goal is to help define the term Managed services and help provide some information as to the founding organization that have shaped this new business and social phenomenon.

Thanking you in advance Johnny calhoun (talk) 13:55, 13 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I'm not sure if this is the correct place to be posting this, but I wrote an article about the company that employs me, VideoAge International. It was deleted a day after it was written, because it was "Advertising" or something like that. Could you please explain to me what I did wrong?

Regarding the speedy deletion of the Dubstep FM article

I believe that this article was not a candidate for speedy deletion for the reason that it was a completely legitimate and factual article with the information stated. I specifically had permission from the owner of Dubstep FM (dopelabs) to create the article. Also, this article had sufficient enough information to be considered at least a stub. Also, If you would more information, please contact me on my talk page. NAXDON (talk) 13:43, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Total Access Statistics

I would like clarification for why you endorsed the deletion of Total Access Statistics page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2009_March_23

I never received a response after providing information showing it was relevant (cited in signficant scientific journals), reviewed by 3rd party books and publications, and an established product that's been around for 12 years. It's much more signficant than many other products that are published on this page Comparison_of_statistical_packages. It doesn't seem like a careful review of the page was performed in the rush to delete it. Please advise either what was wrong with the submisson or what additional support you need to confirm this is worthy of being in Wikipedia. The listing was descriptive and not commercial. Your feedback is appreciated. DataAnalyzer (talk) 20:37, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
