Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Kriskhaira! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:

There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Ryan 09:45, July 31, 2005 (UTC).

Suggestion for Surayud Chulanont

edit

Hi there! I saw your recent edit to Surayud Chulanont. I'm not sure I agree with changing "Natural Conservationist" to "Environmental Policies." Because the word "Policy" implies some official or government role (see the section on policies as Prime Minister), and most of his work was just the activities of a retired man. Might it be more appropriate to call that section "Environmental activities?" Patiwat 20:50, 21 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Islamophobia Watch

edit

I have nominated Islamophobia Watch, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Islamophobia Watch. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Ui feature.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Ui feature.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 02:14, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed NPOV status of Bukit Kepong Incident

edit

Your edits of the Bukit Kepong Incident are heavily biased towards the Malayan Communist Party and the facts regarding the incident are claimed as "unsourced" and "wrong accusation" in those edits. Of course there are dead links towards some reference sites, but those dead links can still be improved by finding newer sources of references. Also, you removed the external reference links that clarify the events of the incident, and your action is an obvious act of vandalism.

The changes have been reverted, and any further attempt to revert it back to your edits will be considered as vandalism and will be forwarded to sysops for their further actions. - Hezery99 (talk) 07:43, 2 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • I think it is you who is mistaken. I removed absolutely no dead links from the article where they are used as references, and in fact have only marked them with {{Dead Link}}. However, as according to the Wikipedia guidelines, I have removed dead links in the "External links" section. The Wikipedia:Template messages guideline states that "Links to dead URLs in a list of external links are of no use to Wikipedia articles. Such dead links should either be updated or removed. Note however, that the matter is different for references". Do not threaten to forward me to sysops because I am just complying by the guidelines. I am going through my changes and reverting some of them back. There is a horrendous lack of citation in that article. - kriskhaira (talk) 14:15, 3 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
    • Dead links can always be replaced with other available reference sources. There are tons of reference sources out there, be it on the web or in books. Just google it, that's all. Dead links can be avoided if books and written materials are used as reference sources rather than the web. If you claim the article as biased, then provide citations from other parties to balance it back. Balance a biased article by facts, not by simply labelling the statements taken by PDRM as "biased" without any citations to support your claim. - Hezery99 (talk) 12:38, 4 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
