Women in Red edit

Hi there, Kravk, and welcome to Women in Red. I'm glad to see that after working so intensively on animal species, you are now interested in improving our coverage of women. From your sandbox page, I see you already have some specific ideas on articles to be created, As you have not very much experience in writing biographies, you might find it useful to read through our Ten Simple Rules. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 09:06, 22 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Pontic Greek culture category edit

Hello, I reverted your recent addition of the Pontic Greek culture category, to several food articles. Please make sure you are familiar with WP:CATDEFINING. All information added to Wikipedia must be WP:Verifiable by our readers (this is different from it being "true"). I support the addition of this category, but only if the WP:RS are added to the article before the category is added.

Spudlace (talk) 01:18, 27 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Thanks for correcting my misstep here. Maybe a category like "Pontic Greek cuisine" under Category:Cuisine by ethnicity would be more fitting for the food articles - but of course, that only comes after the sources!

I'll try to dig up some sources for the foods listed on the Pontic Greeks page.

DYK for Vazelon Monastery edit

On 12 April 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Vazelon Monastery, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Turkish government forced the last monks of Vazelon Monastery to leave in 1923, more than one thousand years after the monastery first opened? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Vazelon Monastery. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Vazelon Monastery), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Women in Red translation contest edit

Hi there, Kravik, and thanks for participating in the June round of the translation contest. Unfortunately your article Maribel Caicedo does not meet contest requirements as with 148 words it is still a bit too short. I have sent you a note about a page you started edit

Hello, Kravk

Thank you for creating List of people with post-traumatic stress disorder.

User:Bruxton, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

Hello, trying to understand the list. Does it cover the world? surely there are millions who suffer from PTSD right?

To reply, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Bruxton}}. Please remember to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Bruxton (talk) 00:24, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Bruxton: Hello! I don't intend to make a list of everyone with PTSD...that would be way too long for anyone to read. I meant for the list to just include notable people (i.e., people with a Wikipedia article) who suffer from PTSD. Kravk (talk) 00:27, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Understood, but there are many more notable people with the disorder - it will certainly be in the thousands. I also have a blp concern about us calling out disabilities. Bruxton (talk) 00:34, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
I've only included living people who have said they have the disorder (with the exception of people like José Padilla, whose diagnosis came up in a highly publicized trial.)
There are similar lists about other mental disorders (List of people with bipolar disorder, List of people with schizophrenia, List of people with an anxiety disorder) and various disabilities (List of people with dyslexia, List of people with epilepsy, List of people with quadriplegia), so I don't see why PTSD would be of particular concern.
I'm not sure if this page will get into the thousands, but I understand that length could be a concern...what could we do in the event that the list gets too long?
Thanks for talking about this with me instead of just rejecting the article outright. Kravk (talk) 00:41, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I will likely leave it for another reviewer. Bruxton (talk) 00:51, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks for looking at it. Have a good one. Kravk (talk) 00:52, 30 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Liliane Schnitzler edit

Thanks for creating this: I've got Schnitzler's syndrome, so I take an interest in her. What brought her to your attention, I wonder? Perhaps a list of eponymous illnesses? PamD 09:11, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello! I'm currently reading a book about medical cases that were difficult for doctors to diagnose. One patient had Schnitzler's syndrome. I had never heard of that illness before, but the book told me it was named for Liliane Schnitzler. That interested me because I feel like there aren't a lot of diseases named for women doctors. It's too bad there isn't more information available on her life and work.
Thanks so much for adding the list of publications/improving the page! Kravk (talk) 18:52, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, there's something pleasing about having an ailment which is named after a woman! (And, more importantly, one for which there is a brilliant medication, available on NHS, which controls my symptoms 100%). I was lucky in that the first consultant I was referred to - Acute Medicine - said "Googling suggests this may be something I've never heard of before, called Schnitzler's Syndrome". When I finally got the diagnosis confirmed by the London world-expert specialist, I wrote to congratulate him on his diagnostic Googling skills! PamD 19:04, 10 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Wow, even the first person you talked to didn't know what it was! I'm glad you got your condition diagnosed, and that it's controlled well. It's very lucky that we have the Internet as a resource these days to make knowledge more easily accessible. Kravk (talk) 16:14, 12 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Chavitz, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Mattdaviesfsic}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Women in Red 8th Anniversary edit

  Women in Red 8th Anniversary
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap!

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message edit

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:51, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
