Speedy deletion nomination of User:Krain Court/Copernico

A tag has been placed on User:Krain Court/Copernico requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Copyright violation removed

I have removed large portions of text (over 18000 bytes) from User:Krain Court/ADMAP GAS in compliance with Wikipedia:Userspace#Copyright_violations and WP:COPYVIO. I apologize if you did not know this, but you cannot copy and paste information from other websites unless you have the owners' explicit permissions. For more information, see WP:COPYPASTE. Thanks. Copyright violations - copernico and Admap-gas

I am having difficulties in publishing 2 wikipedia pages. Reason being - copyright infringement; specifically, copying text from a website However, the website is owned in part by the company I work for (as well as the other project partners) The websites desseminate information from a EU funded project, which we are involved in (with a numer of other partners from across Europe) We are leading the dissemination and therefore have permission from all partners to use the informtion on the website to publish a wiki page. Is there a problem with this?

I respect your cause. However, "to use copyrighted material on Wikipedia, it is not enough that we have permission to use it on Wikipedia alone. That's because Wikipedia itself states all its material may be used by anyone, for any purpose. So we have to be sure all material is in fact licensed for that purpose, whoever provided it." Please see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission and/or Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for information. I could not answer your question with better details than Guoguo12 did. In short, you copied the information from multiple webpages without showing proof that the text was permitted to be used under Wikipedia-acceptable license terms. Nyttend (talk) 03:00, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
