BLPN

The issue you and I both commented on at BLPN will be ongoing. The article subject will do everything he can - as he has done for years - to get the article to read in a manner that is complementary to him. He's very good at manipulating others (look at his profession as the best reason why this is true). I have nothing personally against him, I just would like for editors to stop doing his bidding when that bidding is so obviously to whitewash the article. He's not going to stop demanding changes until the article is devoid of all criticisms against him. I still believe it is best to ignore him. That said, the more he goes to BLPN, the more likely it is he will get an editor unaware of his history here and not getting that he's an SPA with a POV agenda and will do what he's asking. The whole thing really bugs me because of the obvious manipulation and whitewashing. I'm still amazed at those who don't see it. Why that portion of content was removed I still don't understand. I didn't see anything other than a quote from periodical that wasn't out of context at all. If it is put back it, it can be tweaked, but I don't see grounds for removing it completely. Thoughts? -- WV 18:03, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

It's perfectly reasonable for an article subject to be interested in his own bio, User:Winkelvi, and to not be interested in editing Wikipedia in general. Everybody doesn't have to be interested in Wikipedia as such, and you need to stop implying that it's some sort of crime. (I remember in November you had the notion it was a policy violation — I hope at least I've disabused you of that.) As for ignoring him, as you recommend, that's a good idea, I wish you would ignore him. Ignoring is better than attacking, especially when it's a real person editing under his real name. Also, Kosh Vorlon, please stop personalizing commentary at Rick Alan Ross, such as this edit summary. You're an experienced editor, I'm sure you know all about "comment on the content, not on the editor." Bishonen | talk 09:40, 24 December 2015 (UTC).
I think you totally misunderstand my purpose in commenting about the RAR article and with RAR himself, Bishonen. As I stated at my own talk page in response to your threat of blocking, asking me what I'm thinking would be preferable rather than making uninformed judgements. My interest in all of this is purely policy-related and in keeping the integrity of the article intact and content factual rather than overblown and primary-sourced. My concerns are also in regard to RAR's demands in the way of editing the article. And no, I'm not exaggerating when I say "demands". There is a tone to his posts when he wants changes made that that has become increasingly demanding, as if Wikipedia owes it to him as the article subject. This has been going on since about 2007 (if I read the article history right date-wise). Of course there's nothing wrong with an article subject taking interest in the BLP about them. But seriously, how many times should we bend to his demands? If he doesn't get what he wants at the article talk page, he goes to BLPN. A natural progression, yes, but I do see it as forum shopping, even if others (such as yourself) don't. I'm not trying to be disruptive, I have no intent to be rude or insulting to Mr. Ross or attack him. I am just tired of him using editors to mold the article to his vision of it. I know I'm not the only editor who feels this way. Please know that I have nothing nefarious and only the best interests of Wikipedia in mind when I comment about the article and the issues surrounding it. -- WV 19:12, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
